  1. Do you ever get out of Texas? ;)

I have traveled all over the world but my first (out of 6) cruise was a reposition from Galveston to Barcelona. It was about 70% Texans and was my favorite. My second favorite was a reposition from Vancouver to Ft. Lauderdale which was about 70% Californians. My favorite land tour was to Russia. Love Texans, love Californians, love Russians. Have no idea what my point is, just responding to your kind response.:p

  2. I don't think anyone can answer this except for your FIL. If he's functioned for this many years with his alcoholism, he'll figure out how to do it on a cruise ship. Were I in your shoes, I'd just stay out of it.

I very much agree. An inexperienced drinker is much more likely to get into trouble than a long term alcoholic. I also think some of the replies are overly alarmist and harsh, including possibly the OP.

  3. I stayed at the airport Hilton at the end of a transatlantic a few years ago. I was very pleased. There is a package you can upgrade to which includes breakfast, drinks, wifi on a separate floor, which saved lots of money. Copenhagen is very, very expensive, especially food. Most expensive place I have ever been. Getting to city center is easy by train. I took the cruise line transfer which dropped off right next to the hotel and I would expect that the cruise line will have transfer available on the day of cruise. I recommend your decision.

  4. Don't over look St. Colman's Cathedral right there in Cobh. A bit of a hike up the hill from the main waterfront street but very impressive. At least it was for us given it was our first European cathedral.

I traveled by train to Cork and was frankly disappointed. I found Cobh to be much more charming and interesting and wished I had just spent my time there.
