  1. The great part of driving to OG in Arlington Heights is driving down Rand Road and seeing the Willis (er, I mean Sears) Tower in the distance. LOVE feeling so close to a city, yet so far away when I'm working, that I'm driving on rural roads. CHICAGO ROCKS!!!!!

Thank you again Heidi for everything. I still owe you a lunch... please accept the late invite end of January when we have some money. Now is just too tough financially. In fact, we viewed our luncheon as our Anniversary meal (Saturday we will be married 2 years!!). Tough times when I'm not working due to schools out of session. Wish I could have paid the entire bill. It will happen soon. I promise.

Take care Cupid friends!!!! Cannot wait for 2014 adventures!!!!!!! :)

  2. Hope everyone had a Happy Holiday.

We just got back from visiting with the family up in Chicago.

My DD's came in from NY and Champaign.

One of these visits we're going to drop in on Heidi at the OG. We actually did eat at an OG on Christmas Eve but in Arlington Heights nearer my Mother. We got there about 4:30 and not much of a crowd. By the time we left, around 6:30 they were packed with a wait.

Spent Christmas Day at my sister's house. Had a really nice visit but glad to get back.

My husband and I live 4 miles from the Arlington Heights OG!!! But we normally dine at Heidi's OG in Schaumburg.

Speaking of Heidi, we had a "double date" this afternoon at Fridays! Great times!!!!!

Next time you're in town, give some warning, and we could possibly set up a mini Cupids event. There are several Cupids in Chicagoland. It could be done, and is always fun! Happy Holidays to you and your family, Ed. I do follow along and enjoy the posts on this thread... wish I would respond more. Happy New Year to all!!!!! :)

  3. Tap a talk is an app that can be used on just about any smart phone or tablet. From this one app, you can access all of the forums you visit from one place. I like the app because it saves the threads you have participated. So for example, I don't have to waste time searching to sometimes page five looking for the cupids thread.

I think it costs 2.99 which to me is well worth the price.

The new iPhone comes out on September 21st and I an eligible for a new phone from Sprint on October 1st. Luckily apps can be shared on 5 devices, so I wont have to pay for these apps again.

Dave, was it easy to read the iPad2 in the bright sun on the Freedom?

Going outlet mall shopping today for some much needed work clothes.

    Have a great weekend everyone!

  4. Hi Breeze Buddies!

Looks like we cannot wait the 550+ days for this cruise, so I think we need to book a cruise to get away from the Chicago winter in January. Got the permission from the bosses. Thank you bosses for approving!

We were looking at the Breeze in January, but the price jumped big time, so that is out of the question.

Valor is now the choice. Anyone interested in joining us? End of January, boring Western typical itinerary, but the price is right. We're not port people, so it doesn't matter where we travel, as long as it is WARM IN JANUARY!!!

Been working crazy hours this week and last week, so sorry I have not kept up with the thread. This was to be my "summer break before the storm (when school starts again)" but that is not the case.

Have a great rest of the week Breeze Buddies!

  6. Howdy Breeze Buddies!

Sorry I have not been posting much lately. School starts tomorrow for some of the districts around here, so my summer is officially over. :( Although last week I worked a lot anyway, so I'm pretty much in full swing already.

No exciting news from here other than I bought a new desk, lamp, and chair so I officially have a home office now.

    Have a great week everyone!

  7. Hello there Breeze Buddies!

    Sorry I've been "slacking".

As Heidi mentioned, I saw Heidi at the OG on Wednesday. My friend that I was dining with was very intrigued hearing about cruises and how some of us are meeting up this Saturday and that we are from all over the country. She hinted that this was similar to a cult (but didn't use that word, I think she used the word tribe)... it didn't help that when we arrived to the Olive Garden, Heidi immediately handed us some cruise propaganda! ;)

But that is a conversation for another day...

I'm looking forward to Bahama Breeze on Saturday! Sue, I'm sorry you're not able to join us.

Yesterday was the last day of summer school for me, so I may now have a few weeks off... probably not. Something always comes up, which is fine.

Sue, Andy said he's going to liquor up before going to Bahama Breeze, so I am SURE there will be a comedy routine coming from him! He was on fire last Friday night at Happy Hour (with the same friend I went to the Olive Garden with) describing what cruising was like... including the Italian Captain, compete with accent.

  8. Hi Breeze Buddies! Just checking in. We're now having a great time visiting my mom, just relaxing and eating well. (By well, I mean we are eating WAY TOO MUCH!).

Two more days with my mom, then one day with my brother, and then we return to Chicago.

I'm getting very used to this slow way of life. It's enjoyable. Especially now that Maine has tons of cell towers around, and I can play online. Before, it would be impossible to call anyone from my phone, or play on the internet.... hard to connect.

Wishing everyone a fantastic 4th of July week long celebration!

Only 594 days to go... ;)

  9. Thank you all for the well wishes for Andy. He's doing fine... no major pain yet.

Cupids, we are sailing during the second half of the 2014 Winter Olympics!! Looking forward to watching curling (possibly on the big screen?) :D

Maybe for the Cupids 2018 cruise we could do a 2 week long cruise to last the entire Olympics!!! Cupids VI right?

If Andy is up for it, we'll be going to the Long Grove Strawberry Festival today. The weather is perfect for an outdoor festival.

Dave, any word on the mediation?

    Have a great day all!

  10. Hey Poofy,

Tell Andy I can relate. Been there, done that 3 times to the ER. Seems like every 7 years for me. I think I'm due. No fun but probably even less for my DW since it always happens in the middle of the night and she ends up driving me and staying up while they gave me pain killers and I got to sleep.

    Ed

Hi Ed! I will relay the information onto Andy. Do you have any dietary advice? I'm researching tonight about what foods to cut out, etc. Mostly I'm finding that dehydration is a huge cause for kidney stones.

Props to your DW... that's very tough to deal with. My MIL in the past week has dealt with my FIL in the hospital for surgery, my BIL with having his appendix out in an emergency situation, and as Andy calls it "the trifecta" with of course, what you already know with Andy's visit to the hospital. My MIL definitely deserves a second Mother's Day this year!!

Ed, I hope you're not due for additional kidney stones. Wishing you and your DW well. :)

  11. Had quite the scare today getting a voicemail from Andy saying he was headed to urgent care. Then I called the urgent care center where they told me he was sent to the hospital! Since Andy destroyed his phone in the pool recently, I had no way of getting in touch with him. That drive from work to the hospital was so scary and I was crying the entire way there imagining the worst.

I know I ticked off a lot of drivers where my mind was racing and I'd drive 45 in a 25 and then 30 in a 55 not paying attention to the speed limits (both fast and slow).

Luckily Andy was discharged this afternoon with a kidney stone. I'm sure he'll be in a lot of pain while it passes, but thank goodness his trip to the hospital did not result in a serious matter.

As most of my posts include a tidbit about a restaurant in the area, I must say that the hospital cafeteria was top notch... more like a 5 star resort. At the carving station, they offered prime rib which looked like steakhouse quality! I took a picture of the roast to inspire Andy to get better real soon! Sadly though, the carving station was closed when Andy was discharged. He ended up at White Castle (arghhh)... our diets are going to change drastically now that we are officially suffering with medical ailments.

Of course, I stopped for Chinese takeout on the way home... dumplings and wonton soup.

The highlight of the day was when Andy's mom sent a text to me (after we knew he'd be alright) to tell Andy to "stop getting stoned!!"

  12. Hi Dave... actually Andy would LOVE the new ballparks. I was sort of joking about Andy because he loves new shiny things (including stadiums) and doesn't "get" the mystique of old/historic parks like Wrigley and Fenway.

Well, he finally "got it" at the game last Friday and is now very eager to take a tour of Fenway Park during our vacation. Unfortunately, the Red Sox are not in town while we're in Boston (poor planning on my part).

  13. Good Morning Breeze Buddies!

Wow, lots going on with all of you! Dave, I sure hope that the strike ends very soon!

I'm getting my "hair did" today as well. This requires another trip to Chicago, so I tend to make an entire day a "Mimi day adventure". However, with it being in the 90s, not really sure I'll be up for adventure.

Tomorrow I go back for work for two days, and then I should be off for a good chunk of time while we travel to visit family...

Andy said that he enjoyed the visit to Wrigley Field last week, but said it wasn't old enough for his liking... so we'll be visting Fenway Park in two weeks.

    Have a great day Cupids!

  14. Happy Anniversary everyone!

The game was great even though both teams stink. We had great seats in the shade. Bought tickets in the last possible minute on Stubhub so tickets were only 13 dollars!!

Today we helped a friend move from one apartment to another. The move was from one building to the building directly next door. She had literally 85,000 books, so we have agreed to all chip in and purchase her a Kindle before she moves again!

Then she treated us all to lunch at Giordano's. In Chicago, you have two types of cuisine... hot dogs and pizza. This was a pizza joint with a very nice salad bar! :)

    Have a great weekend all!

PS - Chicago truly does have an incredible variety of cuisine, and it's really amazing. I was, of course, joking about the dogs and pizza. ;)
