  1. I will be doing a 14 day Alaska Seabourn in July. Because of the itin I was not planning on bringing a jacket. Could I get by with dress pants and shoes, button down shirt and a tie on formal night or should I plan on eating elsewhere?

  2. So my wife was looking to buy a bottle of dark rum for our upcoming 3 week cruise but only light is available. She called HAL and so did our TA and although it is available at the bar, it is not available to be delivered to your room. Any idea why one and not the other?

I know on another cruise line you could have your cabin steward swap it for you but she doesn't want to risk getting stuck with it.

Can she purchase it once on board?

  3. I am not finding a lot on information on this. Has anybody done this? We are on a HAL ship but I'm sure its similar across all ships.

From the summary it says there is a stop at a fish and chips place but from the description it only mentions stopping for desert type items. Is there a stop for anything besides sweet treats?

It also mentions taking a shuttle back to the ship at the end but nothing at the beginning I take this to mean its a walk from the terminal to the starting point?

    TIA

You have no idea how excited we are.  I cannot stop thinking about it!

Sorry for bringing up an old post but what did you think about this room? I didn't see a review posted so thought I would ask. We are interested in it because it appears to have a small wrap around balcony and we will be doing a Panama Canal transit.

    NB

  5. For anybody recently off of the ship. If you took a private tour were there more covid restrictions you had to follow?

We have been told if we take a private tour we will be required to complete an antigen test before being allowed back on board, and we have to take the test every 3 days for the duration of the cruise, all at our own cost.

I have heard this used to be the case but no longer is?

  6. I was watching an old home video from 1996 on a Carnival cruise in the Caribbean. There was a fellow on there that wore shirts that said Uncle Willy on them. He was in the talent show where he talked about being a school teacher in New York.

Did anybody ever run into this fellow? It seemed like he cruised a lot so somebody may have seen him too. He has probably passed on by now but I was just wondering...

  8. Hotel Continental was recommended by someone in our roll call.

Been to Barcelona 2 times and going again in the spring. We always stay here. It's a bit eclectic but we love getting a balcony room (small balcony) and watching all the action on Las Ramblas. Saw somebody get pickpocketed once. Its pretty reasonable too.

Top of Las Ramblas, close to busses and trains. Walkable to many good tapas places.

  9. My wife and I cruise a lot and jump around cruise lines. We will be cruising on the Emerald again in the fall. I seem to recall a roped off area by the pool with nicer loungers for suite guests?

There is a good chance I am getting this mixed up with another cruise line though.

Memory goes as I get older. :D:D

  10. We have booked with Holo Holo Maui for our upcoming visit. Tour with them on Sep 30th. We booked a private tour "Road to Hana". While I can't comment on the tour itself' date=' obviously, I can tell you that they have been absolutely wonderful to deal with. They answer my emails very promptly, and have been a pleasure to deal with.[/quote']

Can you please post a follow up? How was the tour/tour company?

  11. We have family members onboard the Emerald and their cabin is two away from the scene. Apparently, there was a large group of family traveling together occupying several cabins. We talked to my brother in law a bit ago and he said it was horrible. People were screaming and running up and down the halls covered with blood trying to get help. My BIL and 4 other men were getting ready to storm the cabin, but then security showed up.

Disregard, found the answer to my question. Wish you could cancel a post...

  12. We are Canadian and are using the ships airfare package. They have us booked on a domestic flight back home at 10:30 am. I think this is tight but do-able?

We did an 11:00am out of Fort Lauderdale once and made it and that was an international flight. We did carry off our own luggage though.

I'd kind of hope the cruise line wouldn't book the air if they didn't think you would make it?

  13. BTW we never shared our internet with anyone and didn't stay logged on all the time lest anyone comment that was the reason unlimited internet was eliminated.

So they used to have unlimited internet and now they have nothing?

You'd think they would at least give the Suite guests a basic package complimentary.

  14. Has anyone done this through Princess in San Francisco? Does it stop at the Presidio? The description is not entirely clear.

We did this in another city thru the cruise line and it was nice. You had the bus to yourself for the first circuit, they didn't stop and pick up anyone. You could get off if you wanted to or stay for the tour and then get off on the next circuit, when it was open to the public.
