Given current passenger loads, and the fact the US residents don't need post-cruise testing, I doubt that you'll see 1000 passengers coming off a cruise and needing to be tested any time soon.

oh interesting american dont' need a test to get on a flight.

It's not a call, it's a connection over the Internet. As long as you have access, you can connect from anywhere you travel, including at sea.

Take a look at the antigen instruction manual to get a better feel for what is involved: https://files.switchhealth.ca/Switch-Health_COVID-19_Rapid-Antigen_Instruction-Manual_English.pdf

i don't have a switch health test. i am using on of the free ones given out last month. no instructions . acculab

We are due to cruise around the UK in July and the final port of call will be Le Havre.  I am curious as to why as all the other ports are British.  Is this some odd rule like the US has?

my understanding is during covid ships were not allowed to go to any ports outside of uk. for a time.

Beforehand you register yourself and also any other family members as dependants. Basically you set up an account . Then when you are ready to test, you call and they put you in the queue. You should already have your test strip out with the QR code sticker attached. Place it in front of you so the proctor can see both you and the test strip.

can you make the call from the uk?

We are going to use it in March when we return to Canada from our cruise.

How long do the tests take to do for a family of 4? We are thinking we can do it from the the cabin at 6AM right when we dock in port and can get a cell signal.

Otherwise, we are thinking about getting internet on the last sea day to just do the test.

i was thinking to do the same. have not had confirmation that a call from outside canada is allowed.

Keata where is the Canadian  government document that states the box of 5 tests handed out at pharmacies and grocery stores good for reentry into Canada if done by a professional on the dock?

    Thanks

    Bob

acculab or telehealth paid appointment zoom call .. you can use the free tests. check acculab site for tests that are allowed.

my understanding regarding the box tests . you must make a zoom call to confirm the results with telahealth or acculab ( $39 dollar must schedule) i have not had a confirmation that this could be done overseas.

I am so surprised to have just read this in my most recent (today) email from them:

    Post-Cruise

If a negative COVID-19 test is required for re-entry into your home country, Princess will cover the costs of a COVID-19 test administered within the timeframe required prior to travel.

Guests should disembark the ship, collect their luggage, clear customs and exit the terminal for testing. Subject to availability, COVID-19 tests will be administered just outside the terminal. Antigen test results will be available in approximately 30 minutes and PCR test results will be available in approximately 60 minutes; please plan your post-cruise travel arrangements accordingly.

Guests are encouraged to review their home country’s health authority and travel websites to understand the latest guidance on required testing and timing for return travel.

Subject to availability is useless. they could run out after 1000 people. waiting after leaving ship is also useless if you need to catch a taxi to airport for a 2pm flight.  it is impossible for a lab to test 1500 people in 60 min.
