  1. We have had a few different dining experiences, from sitting at a large table of about 10 with strangers, sitting at a 4 top with 2 other strangers, and just sitting at a 2 top just us. I definitely prefer to sit alone because we're more introverted. One time we were seated with another couple around our age and it was their honeymoon cruise! We felt bad that they weren't dining alone all honeymoon, but I guess if they were upset they could've asked to change seats! Another time we had an awkward experience at the steakhouse. This was actually the cruise we got engaged on. 1 hour before going to the steakhouse my husband proposed. I was naturally on cloud nine and was loving the steakhouse celebratory dinner, when an older couple seated close to us started talking to us about the ethnicity of our waitress and other cruise staff. We were immediately uncomfortable but they didn't seem to notice or care. They made several racist jokes and we didn't know how to react. That was the only bad experience we had dining wise. I say try it out and if you don't like it, ask to move to a 2 top the next night! :)

  2. July 4 is my birthday and we will be on the Sunshine for it this year. We didn't plan it specifically as a birthday cruise, it just happened to be a time when we were able to go. I would love to see fireworks at sea but after reading the comments it seems that wont be happening. I'll settle for the red, white, and blue drink instead! :D

  3. We are cruising in August but did not purchase Cheers. Even though people have the 15 drink limit which makes them feel more relaxed and carefree, I just set a limit for myself. I will allow myself 5 drinks a day, and I probably wont even get to all 5! :p But by doing that I feel happy ordering whatever I want and enjoying myself on vacation, and saving a lot of money in the long run. To each his own, this is just my plan!

  4. We JUST booked the Splendor tonight! We have been on in once about 2 years ago. I don't keep up with the ships or when they go into dry dock, but I was hoping in the past 2 years a Guys or Blue Iguana was added, since I have been wanting to try both. No such luck :( Oh well, maybe next time!

65 Days til we sail and I can't wait!

  5. I would say if you spend 400 per day in casino you would get the bounce back. My wife received bounce back on last two cruises, that's about what she spends per day.

$400 a day?! Even if it's a 4 day cruise, that's $1600 spent in the casino and you can go on a cruise for cheaper than that. I did get a free cruise offer, and took it, 2 years ago. We never get a casino card so I'm not sure why I got the offer, but it was amazing!

  6. Hi everyone! My parents are going on their first cruise this March (:D) on the Norwegian Breakaway. My dad really wants to go on a behind the scenes tour of the ship. A friend of his mentioned that they did this, but I don't know if it was on a Norwegian ship. Ideally he'd love to see the engine room, but I have no idea what they would have access to IF this is a tour that is even offered. If anyone has any information on this, please let me know! TIA

  7. Sounds OK I guess. Free food & drinks is always fun BUT its not actually ON the ship. The press release says one can "experience recreations of the new vessels exciting spaces and features." Thru what? Videos?

Definitely sounds like fun but I am also wondering if it's not on the actual ship, what will be seeing? Would love to know if anyone has any info on this. Thanks!!

  8. We are staying at the El San Juan Resort for a couple days after our cruise. Looks spectacular!! but not sure if they have a day pass.

I found El San Juan Resort and it looks amazing! I contacted them and asked if they offer day passes for the pool area but unfortunately they don't :( Have a great time there, I'm a little jealous!

  9. The Marriott has a swim up bar and a very very nice pool area in general. It's is also on a gorgeous stretch of Condado Beach. I stayed there pre cruise last year and it was wonderful. Not sure what their day pass price is though.

Thanks! I saw the Marriott on Resort For A Day's website. It looks really nice, I have a feeling we may end up there. It is $60 for the day pass.

  10. When we cruised to St Thomas we went to Magen's Bay and a co-worker that I didn't know well at the time came up to me and said oh my god hi! It took me a good couple of minutes to figure out who she was - I wasn't used to seeing her in a bathing suit, hair up, and sunglasses! I thought it was such a small world that we were both at Magen's Bay just for the day. We laugh about how I had no idea who she was all the time now!
