  1. If you're not in a cabin below where they're working, or further along the passageway, what's the big deal? Can't be any worse that being below the lido deck and having to hear chairs and tables sliding around at all hours of the day and night for a week.....or being on a spring break cruise and having 1000+ kids running helter skelter at all hours around the ship. There will always be work to be done on a ship, whether it's going to or coming from drydock; whether it's got passengers onboard or not...it's the nature of the beast. A group of us are sailing on October 13th.....and we're planning on having a great time.....just cruise on!!!

  4. So those of you that have recently been on the Triumph and had My Time Dining, can you name some servers that you would recommend? I'd love to be able to have a great experience my first night going to the dining room.

    Thanks.

We just got off TRIUMPH this morning...........had open dining .....ask to be seated in "Rocky's" area. The guys in his crew are great - very attentive, lots of fun, very personable. They'll learn your names the first night, welcome you back every evening, call you by name, and take great care of you!

Tell them "Santa" sent you -

IMG_0704_zpsj2oqu4ck.jpg Rocky is the one with the glasses!

  5. I was saying I refuse to buy more drinks after I have reached my 15 drink limit.

Not a problem because they won't sell them to you........

Some heavy drinkers suggest stop putting them on your Cheers account at the 12th or 13th drink.....charge some on your Sign & Sail ...and save the last two to end the night - or 24 hr period with.

Considering the cost of the various drinks if you were putting them on your Sign & Sail card, it doesn't take very long to match the $57 a day....rather than try and beat the 15 drinks a day....beat what you're paying - anything over the $57 a day is a "freebie" so to speak.......3 Mojitos, 3 beers, and 2 glasses of wine, and you're over the $57 ....and only had 8 drinks.....

  6. I'm new to cruising and have a couple of questions.

    1. Has anyone stayed in room 9282, can you give me any insight on this room. Is it noisy? This is a balcony room correct?

Lido deck cabins, whether you have a balcony or interior are the way to cruise! 9282 is a balcony - we'll be in 9280 two weeks later, and we always stay on the Lido deck!

    2. I can only bring 1 bottle of wine or 12 cans of soda correct?

One bottle of wine per adult AND 12 cans of soda per adult

    3. What is the best thing to do in Cozumel and Progreso.

In Cozumel, we've done a bar hop tour (not a ship's excursion) and there were kids along on that one; We did a tequila factory tour, that I don't think they still do, and this cruise we're doing the catamaran sail & snorkle) Mr. Sancho's all inclusive is great for everyone too. In Progreso there is a beach near the end of the pier, but most of the excursions are away from the town, which is quite small.

    4. On non formal Night a sundress with leggings or dress capri's can be wore in the MDR? t-shirts, swimsuits, ball caps, cut off jeans are about all they don't want you wearing

I'm sorry for all the questions just want to make sure i have things right. Thanks for any help

Have a great cruise - you'll be back!!

  7. Wow..I was on the edge of my seat reading your flight troubles! Whew! So glad it worked out.

My last cruise was my first five day as well. I don't think I'll ever really be interested in that again honestly. For the same airfare and pre-cruise hotel it's just not worth it. Now, if I lived close enough to a port to drive, that would be a different story.

I am dreading finally getting hit with the service once a day thing (it was still twice on the Liberty last April). I wonder, if I tipped my steward, if it would be much of a bother to just come in the evening and do our towel animal and leave the fun times? I don't need my room cleaned a second time, but I would very much miss coming back from dinner to find my bed turned down and my towel animal waiting. Would only take him 10 minutes or less. On the one hand, I will miss twice a day service, but on the other, it is totally not the steward's fault this is happening and I don't want to make his job any harder than it already is with all the extra rooms. That was a real jerk move Carnival.

My understanding is that you have a choice for room cleaning - either morning or evening; however, I've read a few reviews where tipping the steward some extra resulted in twice a day.

  8. Thank you for an excellent cruise review!! The photos you took are fantastic, and anyone cruising on TRIUMPH would be well advised to review them!!

We're booked for a 5 day in mid-September, on the 9th deck, and will certainly take advantage of that forward observation deck!!

Very interesting commentary about the various food establishments - and the first photos I've seen of the new dining "style" with the bare top tables and new settings. Interesting that they have steakhouse entree's in the MDR for the increased price - unfortunately, I can't say the ambiance would be the same!

Regardless of the decor, it's amazing how many of the Carnival fleet all seem to be laid out in similar fashion, making it fairly easy to go from one to another and not have a problem finding your way around!

Thanks again for your review - it was an afternoon well spent reading it!!

  9. Even before the fire, the ship and its two sisters have the distinction of being the worst class of the fleet. And although decor wise, the triumph had the distinction of being the nicest aesthetically, it still suffers from that deck 9 faux pax, making them the crowdest ships in the fleet.

We still have good memories of her though. We got to tour her before she ever took on passengers, and had a good sailing on her a couple of months later, having the distinction of being our first cruise with a balcony.

So, pray tell, what is the deck 9 faux pax??

  10. Hey I found more information about the hub app you were asking about! You can download the app at the Play Store of your device. Once its downloaded you just sign on to the carnival intranet system to access the hub. The app gives a list of supported ships and triumph is listed. When you are on board a Carnival ship you can always access the Carnival site on their Internet even if you purchase no internet services. This leads me to wonder whether it is going to be possible to use the hub without purchasing Internet service. I have not been on board since this was in effect so I'm not sure. If anyone has sailed since the hub went into effect please answer this question!

Just downloaded the app from the Play Store. When you open it, Step 1 says turn on Airplane mode to avoid carrier charges. Step 2 is to connect to Carnival Wi-fi through settings, and Step 3 is Log in with your Sail & Sign card credentials so it appears there's no freebie with it...

  11. We've been down the stranger route too many times and do not like it. The last 3 cruises we've done anytime dining and love it. Even though the tables are close to each other, you're not obligated to talk to any one but the person you are with. We like that.

    Agreed!!
