  1. The past 3 years we have used the free luggage service & took a taxi because there’re faster (hal transport must wait until bus is full) for weekends flights out of SEA for a 11:35 am flights with no problem always at the gate by 10:00.       One problem we did have is when using the luggage service they print your boarding pass for you when we got to the TSA they wouldnt scan so i had to go back to the kiosk and reprint them. Now i just reprint them before getting in line.

OP can't drop everything off with the luggage because wine, soda, and water all have to go as carry-on.

Yes you can. you drop it off at the curb then carry in on. FYI some times they (Porters) will put a luggage tag on it and deliver it Seward is a small port. not the wine but soda & water

When you say beverage card do you mean soda or alcohol or both?

For example my wife was looking into the SBC but we have 3 people over 21 in our cabin. Since we would have to buy 3 and say only one was used is the other two refundable? Or is this the prepaid beverage cards only?

  4. Are you flighting into Anchorage & driving to Seward? Things are cheaper in Anchorage and you will have more selections than in Seward. Because youll have the car i would buy everthing before the cruise and drop off with luggage. Seward doesnt get as many private cars as other ports lots of buses so fairly easy to get in & out.

Maybe buy a folding 2 wheel grocery cart (must fit in screening machine) to haul the water & soda it can be a long walk from drop off to your cabin.

I only carry water (hate HALs water) & buy the soda on board its just easier for me.

  5. 2017 & 2018 We booked Under the explore 4 we recived free drink package for the 1st & 2nd & did not  purchase for the 3rd all over 21 it just says no sharing. Just booked under Book Early & Save pa:ckage for 2020 they didnt request that we purchase for the 3 rd person in the cabin so i dont belive its a new rule. I do know Carnival Cruise lines requires.

Congratulations on your 100 day medallion award! It's just a simple medallion, but for someone who enjoys cruising, receiving it will be a lovely memory for you to look back on. We received ours last year on the Veendam. Actually, we didn't even realize we were at the 100 day mark. We received the usual invitation to the mariner's luncheon, and it was followed up by a phone call, asking us to confirm that we were going to be there. I'm glad we went. Enjoy your cruise!

Same with us, concierge called twice to confirm we would be attending didn’t know why til we got there 😂

  7. Hi Everyone - We are sailing this Sunday of the Amsterdam with extended family - there will be 12 of us. I have a couple questions.

First - we are arriving in Seattle Saturday night and staying over night at an Airport Hotel. What is the best options for getting to the Cruise Terminal. We planned to take two UberXLs (for 9 of us) but if there are better options I am open. Is there an issue with Uber Drivers getting to the drop off area?

What will check in be like? Will we have to still have all our liquids be TSA compliant? We will have the wine with us (we are bringing our own and paying the corkage) and I know we need to carry that on but what about the rest of our stuff - contact solution, lotion etc? Will we have to dump out our water, morning Starbucks etc?

Does the Sport court on the top have a place for volleyball?

How many Gala nights will there be - I keep looking for this info and I can't seem to find it.

Any idea if the Pinnacle Grill will be open for lunch on the Glacier day as well as the "at sea" days?

Will there be any other options for ordering Tequila in a full bottle once on the ship? I see we can pre-order a bottle of Jose Cuervo before we leave but don't really love that and I thought I had read other choices would be available from Room service once we were on board through room service. Will the bottle price (even of the Jose) be similar once on board or am I better off just settling for the Jose now? They have so many Vodka choices but only one tequila.

Do you have any tips for us that we should for sure take advantage of? We will be my husband and myself, my sister and her husband (50s), my dad, my MIL and FIL (80s) and my kids 18, 24, 25 and my husbands brothers.

Thank you so much for the help. The search function on the forums is not really helping me or I am too impatient. :'):')

we have found Uber to be cheaper if you have 4 or more people. no problem being droped off a pier 91

  8. Yes, your cabin door is a shared public space facing the public walkways. How else could you describe it? Even your interior space comes under company regulations. If HAL wants to regulate every square inch of the entire ship, this is their right and jurisdiction. And if passengers want to chose a more "free-style" cruise ship, that is their right too. This is not hard. So far HAL has not issued any guidelines on this activity one way or the other, other than case by case basis.

However, Carnival ships did chose to regulate exteiror "door decorations" and even inside cabin decorations. Things must have gotten out of hand leaving this to only passenger voluntary "discretion". Too bad the passengers could not regulate themselves up front to avoid this more draconian response banning them now for everyone.

Your Information is not correct Carnival does allow cabin doors to be decorated both sides.(cannot block door ways). Just off the Vista there were very elaborate doors and fun to look at. A large group on board had a best cabin door Contest & carnival provided prizes.

  9. My kids are all big now. Son is 23 and my daughter 16, which is why I need 3 separate beds. One for each of us.

look at the Hyatt House & Hyatt Place both by the space needle. 2 beds & sofa bed. they also have shuttle that will take you down town or short walk to the monorail drops off at westgate mall down town.

  10. SailorMarge submitted a long and detailed report of her family's Alaska cruise on the Eurodam. She said that they arrived at the terminal at 11:00 am and there were no porters so they had to wheel their luggage deep into the terminal. Was this because it was too early? If so, what time would porters be available? Asking because I am not able to walk long distances and have requested a wheelchair for embarkation and disembarkation.

Thanks for any information you can provide.

The porters are hit or miss. There is a handicap parking spot for drop off but often it is full. let your driver know you are handicap it may help.

  11. When I left out of Seattle on 4/19 there were porters available before 11. The taxi left me off on the street right where the porters were collecting the luggage. After I dropped my bag off, I had to walk 100/200 feet further down the block to the terminal entrance. I’m guessing she came from the other side of the terminal entrance and didn’t see the porters, or there’s been a dramatic change - which I doubt.

Also, seems like wheelchairs weren’t available until shortly after you entered the terminal.

Pier 91 is not on a street. the drop off area is a large U and it can be a long way from the terminal

  12. Great review!

Do you know if other passengers were able to get porter service? Or, in the absence of porters, are there carts like the airport has for passengers to use? We're sailing on a 14 day out of Seattle next week, and want to bring quite a bit of water onboard.

I have sailed out of pier 91 several times. I have found the porters are hit or miss over the years. Sometimes youll see porters just standing on the Priness side doing nothing but they cant help HAL passangers. There are no carts for you to use. You might just want to wait for a porter its a long way to drop off after you enter the building.

  13. We splurged and booked the Pinnacle suite for Mexico later this year. As I understand it, the amenities are the same as a Neptune Suite..with better champagne and course by course dining from the MDR( not speciality restaurants). Am I correct? Oh and that big fridge is really just the mini bar..?

I love the Eurodam PH, we dont do course by course dinnig but i do enjoy room service dinner. The fridge is filled with soda, beer & waters. The tub & bed are amazing. I spend a lot of time on that huge balcony and outside tub its so relaxing.

    Enjoy

  14. If they are licensed to practice in U.S. or Canada, they Are U.S. or Canadian doctors.

Doesn't matter if they went to Medical School in Russia, trained in U.K. but moved to U.S. and became licensed here... that makes them U.S. doctors, doesn't it?

No it does matter where they went to Medical school.

  15. There are also a Hyatt Place and Hyatt House near the Space Needle that have shuttles that should take you to the pier (check to be certain but I know they go downtown for free).

They donot have free shuttle to pier 91. but they do contract with a shuttle service is was $12.00 per person in sept. 2017.
