  1. The 3 times I've been in Coz we've rented a Jeep and explored the island. I highly recommend Mezcalitos on the east side... it's my favorite beach bar anywhere. Best grilled shrimp I've ever had in my life! The surf on that side of the island can be rough, but is perfect for body surfing. 😃 They have hammocks and a good photo op (you'll know what I mean when you get there), as well. Enjoy!

Did you rent from the company in port before your cruise or at the time you arrived? We have rented there once several years ago and drove around the island which is what we are wanting to do again. Thanks for the grilled shrimp review!

  2. Anyone have an update on Jamaica? Montego Bay area specifically? We will be cruising in March and would love an excursion to Dunn's River Falls and or Blue Hole. Not sure how much we want to participate in climbing the falls but possibly due to recent surgeries and abilities of our family.

If we do not find something like the above, any suggestions on beaches close by and trusted transportation there and back to ship? (No resorts...I can do that at home.)

  3. We don't do coffee....but a little Diet Mountain Dew daily keeps the headaches away. In the past, we have taken a few 16oz bottled sodas in our carry on. I read today no BOTTLES, but do they mean plastic or just glass? It says cans are allowed but not sure how those go through customs and such. Anyone still take plastic bottle drinks?

  4. Never been on Victory, however have sailed other Carnival ships. The balcony...do not get the top level balcony because everyone on the deck above you will lean over and join your peace and quiet time. I also request not to be under the main Lido deck since they put pool chairs out early in the mornings....they scrape the deck and it can be loud. Love the spa area balconies. Our children usually stay in an inside stateroom across the hall but hard to get when you book closer to the cruise date. Main deck is packed on sea days, get there early or do something else until after lunch then it thins a little. Have fun!

  5. Following also.

Will be on the Dream March 4th. Always been very skeptical about the safety in Jamaica anyway...a little more now with the reports I have been reading. Of course, violence is everywhere and you just have to be careful. Depending on what everyone reports, we may do an excursion, but no jewelry, no purses or bags except for waters and a few snack so if it gets gone oh well. All money and ID will be on an inside pocket of clothing (which I prefer most of the time).

    Cruise #6 coming soon!

  6. I would love to have some ideas also. Friends have been there but did not adventure far from port. Said it was boring (kind of what I think about a return trip to Nassau, however, we did our own walking tour to Fincastle, Queens Staircase, Hilton, and shopping). I'm not looking forward to this cruise to Freeport, Nassau, and Half Moon Cay and I am usually super excited.

  7. So what did you do exactly on this tour and was it really worth it? We wanted to do a stingray swim either at Freeport or Nassau, but from what we have researched, they are crowded with people, placed in a fenced in area (not like Grand Cayman's Stingray area which is the most awesome we have experienced). We have one new cruiser with us who has never done it, so thought we might try this excursion.
