  1. I agree. They are easy to find, reasonable in price and seem to work very well. I don't get motion sickness luckily, but DW does and she swears buy the ginger pills.

Does it have a taste? After taste when you swallow it? do you chew or just swallow whole? I hate the taste of ginger but will try if I can't taste it. Does it effect your breath? Thanks.

  2. Thanks for the warning.

I have found the best motion sickness cure to be ginger root, in capsule form. This is all natural (you can buy organic), and has NO side effects. It also helps aid digestion, a must for all that cruise food. I have never been seasick, and this even helps when riding around with those crazy cab drivers on the islands. I start taking 1 capsule twice a day a few days before the cruise, and continue every day until the end of the cruise.

Do you know where I can purchase it in the US? DH used the patch last November. 2 patches for a 7 day cruise. He was fine and ate like horse. When we got back home, he was sick for 3 days, all white and pasty. Even our children's teacher said he didn't look that good. He said, he would rather be well on vacation and have fun and be sick later on the return home. I'm hoping the ginger root capsule you suggested would be better for all of us. I used the patch on the ship and no side effects on the return to land. Thanks.

  3. There's no such thing as bad bacon. :D

you are so right?:) you got bacon? life is good. Westerdam, Nov 09 I was at the Lido the first morning enjoying a quiet breakfast before DH and kids woke up. My morning ritual. One woman started pointing at the bacon and complained, I want it more crispy. Crispy, crispy. The server went through the batch and held each one up for her inspection/approval. I was next in line and then I had to giggle out loud when she left. he giggled too. next morning I went back for bkft and I was ordering something else and he said, you want that crispy? I was confused at first then I remembered he was the same server as yesterday with that complaining bacon woman. We both just LOL. so we have that same little joke going on every morning. he and I, our own little secret. sometimes I would order pancakes and say, more crispy please and we'd LOL again. Makes my morning.

  4. We like the Hyatt Place on 1851 SE 10th Avenue. There is a little shopping mall a few mins away (Harbor Shops on Cordova Road) and Publix so we can get last minute items and a big liquor store next to it (we've purchased our wine there for our cruise). Their complimentary breakfast is very good and lots of choices. Rooms are nice. We've been there Nov 08 and Nov 09. We travel with 2 toddlers and there is a servi bar for our milk. Hotwire in 08 was $75 and in 09 was $89.

Question: Do you know of any good restaurants nearby (walking distance) where we can take the toddlers? 08 we went to the Thai restaurant in the mall - Harbor Shops (not that great and pricey for what you get). 09 we went to a mexican restaurant down the main street. Not good at all and very bad service. Thoughts? I know Outback Steakhouse is next door but don't want to go there. We've done Five Guys in Harbor Shops both years and it is decent for lunch but we want a good place, mid-price for dinner. There is 8 of us travelling.

Plus do you know anything about that trolley that comes around? I've seen it in Harbor Shops. I was thinking of take the kids in Dec 10 and just ride around and around. Usually we just fly in, eat lunch, nap, find a place for dinner and sleep again. Would be nice to do something in FLL other than visit Publix and Payless Shoes. Thanks.

  5. Nov 08 - hot, hot, hot and sunny.

Nov 09 - cloudy, cool and bit of rain drops

BBQ --- Nov 08, not so great. Nov 09 better.

massive amount of people when it starts. go about 20-30 mins later.

plenty of food and seating area so no worries.

basic bbq food: burger, hot dog, fish, ribs, various salads, chips.

burger was decent and ribs weren't bad. basic bbq food. workers cooking for over 1,000 people or even 1,500. quantity over quality. .

the brownies are amazing. chocolate chip cookie was fairly good also.

drinks being sold, but there is free water and I think ice tea.

sorry, no info on secret hidding places. we stuck around the beach area since we had 4 toddlers with us. did find a nice sandy park area with pirate ships, swings etc. we'll return there Dec 10.

interested in hearing what others have found.
