  1. Even children wearing swim diapers are not allowed in the pools on Carnival.

You are 100% correct. I double checked carnival's FAQ and it did indeed say swim diapers are not allowed. i didnt know that. Glad i didnt bring my daughter on the my recent cruise a couple of weeks ago. I would have been breaking the rules. not on purpose, just out of sheer ignorance.

when you're right, you're right. lol.

  2. Just off a 7 day cruise with my husband and two younger daughters (9 & 12). For the most part, we had a really nice time but there were a couple things that surprised me that we experienced on board. I realize it was a small part of the experience, but just curious what you would have thought.

First was in regards to the photo sessions. There was a couple we walked past at about 8:00PM that were hard to miss. They were posing in various sexual positions and the photographer was snapping away while their group of friends were cheering them on. My kids were like - why is he doing that to her? Yeah....

Second was during the main dining room. On the last night of the cruise there was a toddler running around in just a diaper (no other clothes or shoes). I realize that not everyone likes to dress up for dinner, but come on.

We also ate at the steak house. The food and service were great, but two tables over had a one year old doing laps around the parents table. She was pulling things off of the surrounding tables while the parents ignored them.

Also - are non-potty trained kids supposed to be in the pools? I know on Disney they had a dedicated toddler pool that was drained and refilled nightly for obvious reasons. Keep in mind I have kids and they have been on every sailing with us since we had them. I just make sure they followed the rules of the ship with dress code, etc.

Maybe I should mind my own business, but am I crazy to think that's over the top a bit, or are people "just on vacation and anything goes?"

As far as the couple, although what they were doing was wrong, i personally wouldnt really care, cuz i understand that they were just trying to have fun. (as bad as that sounds). if the clothes started coming off, well them thats a different story.

as far as the kid running around in a diaper in the MDR, that is a big no no!!! I understand the parents not wanting to be too strict on vacation because they want the kids to have fun, but come on! what happened to decency and basic respect? Its not ok to have a child running around, ruining the dinner of others, i dont care how cute the baby is. And with no clothes on? i would have said something to the head waiter or the maitre d. I have 2 kids, one of them 1 year old, and i would never let my daughter do that, at home or elsewhere.

i wonder if the kids that arent potty trained in the pool had swim diapers on. When i put my daughter in the kiddie pool, she has a swim diaper on, and a bathing suit over it so you cant tell that she's "protected".

  3. Nice review until I got to this part. It's bad enough you can't follow the rules that you clearly understand (in essence, you stole but just didn't get caught stealing) but I wonder if you also shared those sodas and smoothies with your kids and made them accomplices is your illegal activities? Great ethics to be teaching them......"kids, it's okay to steal as long as you don't get caught"......

seriously? nobody asked for a lesson in ethics.

to the OP, glad you had a great trip. Mind sharing what you did in Canada? I'm going to be on her in a few weeks. Hope you took good care of her for me!

  4. Too much to read it all so if i am repeating something someone already said, I apologize.

I knew I needed tons of sunscreen. So i made sure to bring two big bottles. But one thing i wish i knew was to have a bottle in my carry on!! I know that a full bottle of sunscreen cant go in my carryon at the airport, but what i should have done was to put a bottle in the outside pocket of my checked in luggage so that when I get my luggage from the airport baggage claim, i can easily get it out of the luggage and stick it in the carryon. We got sunburned the first day on the cruise. We headed straight to the pool, changed into pool clothes that i made sure to pack in the carry on, but no sunscreen. :(
