  1. I will be visiting Olden, on a cruise stop in September.  I prefer to use local bus transport when available. Can you advise if local bus tickets can be bought using a credit card or is payment accepted only in the local currency.  I am hoping to visit either or both the Loen Skylift and the Briksdal Glacier, depending on how convenient it is to get there and back to the port by local bus.  Can anyone give some advice on this.  Information on bus route, schedule and cost would be greatly appreciated.

  2. We will be visiting these ports on a Norwegian Fjords cruise in September.  Can anyone offer ideas on things to do or points of interest in Trondheim and Andalses,

Our itinerary with P & O Cruises also includes a day in Lofoten Island at a tender port.  However, the itinerary does not indicate the name of the port.  Does anyone know which port P & O Cruises calls at in Lofoten Island.  Any suggestions on things to do there or points of interest within the port would also be appreciated.

  3. Hi everyone, thanks for your advice and the warnings on rail strikes.  Yes Janny444, we are Canadian and looking forward to visiting London again.

Thanks Yorkshirephil, I am glad to learn that the ship does not sail until about 17:00 as we are hoping to have a visit in the morning with some friends in London.  Also hoping that by train we can get to Southampton between 13:30 and 14:00.  We will keep our fingers crossed that the rail situation will improve by September.

  4. We are booked on the Arcadia departing from Southampton on Sept 14, 2023.  We will overnight in London on Sept 13.  We are trying to book train tickets from London to Southampton but no sailing /departure time has been given in any documentation received to date. Can anyone advise on the approximate sailing time of the Arcadia?  When do ships normally sail?  How late can we check in on embarkation day?  How early are we required to be on board before departure?

Any advise is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

  5. We are considering booking a cruise on the MSC Seaside for November 2019.  However, in spite of reading several reviews, we still have a few questions in order to make an informed decision:

    1.  How is the food, especially in the buffet area?  Has anyone sailed on Seaside recently?  I am reading a lot of negative reviews from mid to late 2018.   Has the international selection improved from being more than tacos?  How much of a variety of  meats and vegetables are offered?  Is it just hamburgers and hot dogs?

    2.  Are the self serve drink stations offering coffee, tea and juices available 20 - 24 hours per day?

    3.  Are there soft serve ice cream stations?

    4.  How many sittings are there for dinner in the Main Dining Hall.  What are the times?

    5.  Is breakfast and lunch also served in the Main Dining Hall daily.

    6.  Is there a designated outdoor jogging track?  On what deck?

    7.  Is there an adults only sun deck area available for all passengers (ie. not sailing in Yatch Club).

Thanks in advance for your response.  Any information would be greatly appreciated.

  6. Hi Steve,

Have you done the Green Grotto Caves in Ocho Rios? Is it possible to do this on our own. Any knowledge of cost? We are travelling on the MSC Divina at the end of October. Any recommendations for beaches in Cozumel or Nassau?

    Thanks in advance.

We are on your sailing and have been to Ocho rios at least 20+ times and have done about everything.

I saw in your other posting that you are in your 20's. You would probably like the Bobsled, it is one of my favaorites I have rode this thing 30+ times. http://www.rainforestadventure.com/jamaica-mystic-mountain/

It is close to the ship, you can see the ship from the top. You take a sky ride up,bobsled down and they pull your bobsled back up,then sky ride down. They have a nice pool there as well. They also offer dunn's river with it as it is close by.

Dunn's river falls is near there as well as the zipline. There is no real height to the falls. They are real low all the way. Look on youtube and you will see.

This is one of our favorite islands. We have also done the caves, the river rafting float, ATVs, kayaking, diving.

The bobsled can be done on your own but in this rare case its cheaper with the ship as they provide transportation all day so when you are ready to come back. hop on a bus back.:)

I have done all the other ports as well many times so any questions, just ask.

    Steve

  7. Can anyone comment on the NATURES BEAUTY "POOL AND FALLS TOUR offered by Reyno Tours. The tour description sounds great as it offers all the points of interest we would like to see. However, I am wondering if it is too much to take in for a 4 hour tour. Was it very rushed? Did the tour go beyond 4 hours?

  8. Hi judeg -We are visiting Antigua in a few weeks and would like to do exactly what you did. One question - how did you get back to the ship after your time on the beach? Do you have to walk back to the bus stop in front of Nelson's Dockyard? How long did it take to get from the cruise ship to Nelson's Dockyard on the bus? Are there frequent buses for the return trip. We are not as daring so I need to know that it can be comfortably done.

    Thanks in advance.

  9. Can you give me an idea of how much a taxi to Rainbow Beach would cost. We are a group of 7 and would probably need 2 taxis. How long will it take to get there? Thanks in advance.

  10. I have been reading several post and it seems cruise ships dock at either Crown Bay or Havensight. Correct me if I am wrong. Does anyone know where Carnival Cruises dock? Is it possible to walk from the dock to Charlotte Amalie. How long of a walk? Is there a path or sidewalk?

Can you also give any recommendations on historical points of interest in St. Thomas.

  11. Our Carnival cruise in December ends in San Juan, PR at 7:00 am. Our flight home does not depart until 4:00 pm leaving us with a few hours in San Juan.

Are there any hotels near the Cruise dock that will store luggage for a few hours? How far is the main town centre from the cruise dock? Can we get taxis from the cruise dock or town centre to the airport later in the day or are taxis mainly around in the early morning when the ship docks? How far is the town centre to the airport? Any suggestions on things to do in the few hours would also be appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

  12. We have booked on the Carnival Sunshine for November 2015, on one of the new Journeys itineraries. Some reviews for this ship, have said that if you choose the late dining sitting, you will not be able to attend the production shows. Is this correct? Is there only one show per evening? Our experience on previous cruises, has been that there are two evening shows, one to accommodate those who have chosen the early (6pm) seating and the other to accommodate the late 8:15pm diners. Does anyone know how many evening shows there are on Carnival Sunshine?
