  1. I couldn't resist this offer either! Jumped on it as soon as the offer email came out! Was going to use my Velocity points to book business class to Europe for my NCL Epic cruise next year but will now just fly economy one way. A 'free' 5 day cruise is way better value to me than a business class vs economy seat!

Booked the 27th January  5 night Melbourne-Hobart-Melbourne cruise. Am excited to check out the night life!

  2. It's disappointing reading some of the comments on here. I have nothing against North America, but some people act like it's the only civilised place in the world. This is great news for Australians and New Zealanders! The newest ship we've had access to (without having to travel for over 24 hours to get to) is the Celebrity Solstice (which has just turned 5 y/o). We've never had easy access to Freedom or Oasis class ships. Why is it so unreasonable of RCI to send a new ship out this way...?

This is EXACTLY what I was thinking. Since cruising on the Epic and Allure I have fallen in love with the mega ships. Now instead of flying 24 hours to get to the USA we can just take an 8 hour direct flight and almost be at the ship!

I don't want to sound harsh, but reading some of the posts on here makes me realise how some people think 'the whole cruising world should revolve around them'. It's a bit selfish..

  3. Just an update...

I called up Carnival and spoke to a rep. At first she said the whole "if the taxes are lower at the time of your cruise you will get OBC". from your advice on here I knew I could get my final balance adjusted, so after getting put on hold 3 times so she could "speak to her supervisor" she gave me the good news that my balance has been adjusted and i got the lower rate!

    Thanks for your help guys

  4. Hi, for some reason the search function isn't working on the forum.

3 days ago I booked a cruise on the Carnival Pride for June 2015. The only rate Carnival offered on the website was 'Early Saver'. I understand the whole 'non-refundable' deposit etc, but just checking now.. the price price has dropped by $30pp ($60 total). What I find weird is it is the taxes that have changed, not the price of the room.

Is there anything I can do to get the lower rate? Or can I only benefit from it if the room rate is lowered.

    Thanks in advance!

  5. I enjoyed the headliner show. I can't believe I didn't write down his name. Anyone from our roll call want to jump in here? Supposedly he has a Vegas act. Now, I'm no fan of Vegas and almost never go to casinos, so I don't know how impressive that is, but I liked the guy. He had a small Royal Caribbean orchestra behind him and he sang a lot of early 60's to 70s songs that a person my age would enjoy and made it interactive for the crowd. I did enjoy it.

I believe this sounds like Tony Tillman. He did Sammy Davis Jr. in a Rat pack show in Vegas. We had him on our cruise and he was great.

    OWD

I think it was Earl Turner... he liked himself a lot more than I did. This was the only show we went to that people left early... he needed some back up singers/dancers

  6. Great start Bill.... It was great meeting you and everyone else from the roll call. Hopefully in 2015 I can book the same cruise as you!

I wasn't planning on getting the soda package but impulse bought it when I saw the machines. I just figured it would be convenient. I had no problems getting diet coke etc from the bars or at shows, everyone was nice about it.

I agree that the machines were terrible. Good luck finding ice and your favourite flavour in the same machine! On the last sea day, the right hand machine at Sorrentos had no flavours except one of the Powerades, which didnt work!

Ill post my review in a few weeks when I get home! The last day or 2 hasn't been very good... Mum broke a tooth and had to get it pulled in Washington DC, my aunty left all the medication in the stateroom fridge... We realised this after getting to the hotel in DC. Royal Caribbeans phone operators should be fired.. The guy I spoke to yesterday and today was extremely rude!

Anyhow ill post about that in my review!! Can't wait to read yours

  7. I have a feeling the 5 nights are going to cost wayyy more than a current 7 day Caribbean cruise. I hope the westbound TA isn't too expensive.. sure the Oasis is awesome but I'm not paying a really steep price considering I can go on the Epic for <$1500 for a balcony room

  8. You know once I got home I realized that I really did not have that a lot of videos, it is definitely something that I will do a lot more on future reviews. I will be looking out for your eastern review, it might give some good ideas on what to do on those ports. What exactly do you mean by "bigger write up on cc events"?

Basically we've had a very active roll call for over a year now. I'm coming to the USA from Australia and our cruise is just the mid-point of our trip. I'm planning to meet some CC members from our Roll Call in Phoenix for a dinner. Then once in Fort Lauderdale a group of CC members from the Roll Call are going on a Carrie B Cruise tour of the Everglades. Then we are meeting up at the beach (in the same spot you went) to watch the Oasis of the Seas sailaway. After that we are all going to a place for dinner.

THEN once we are on the ship we have the meet and mingle with a hometown gift exchange. Then we have a cabin crawl + poker run. We are also planning a few group lunches/dinners on board. So basically what I'm saying is, other CC members will be featuring a lot in my review :D

  9. Wonderful review, thank you so very much for all of your hard work.

We are going on the Allure in September but doing the Eastern. I wish you had done Eastern since you have so much detail about the ports.

If you can wait until the first week of May you will get all the details on the Eastern ports :) I'm planning a review like Gambee's but it will have more videos and a bigger write up on CC events!

  10. For our Oasis cruise, I was up and about at 5:00 / 5:30 ...... which is when I am up every day.

I walked around between 5:30 and 6:00 AM

Enjoy the cruise, I know you will!!!

I thought it would have been like 4am-430am. Should be easy to get up early and walk the ship, then find a good spot to film the sunrise!
