  1. My guess is you're going to get several different responses to your question. Some will express frustration with Celebrity's ability to accommodate, and some will say it will be a piece of cake and you'll have no problems.

My experiences for the last ten years are mixed. In Oceanview, things tend to be marked as to whether or not they are GF. However in my experience things that are marked GF are not always GF. In the dining rooms you may have an easier time getting the correct info, but you should still proceed with caution and ask questions. Even in the MDR (should you ever order from there) where the items are marked GF, ask questions. I was once told I could eat the barley soup because there was no flour in it.

As a celiac I'm sure you know what goes and what's out. You'll do ok, so long as you ask questions. You'll soon figure out who can help you and who cannot.

Oh and snacks...probably bring your own. They do offer some GF bread but you can guess how good it is. No crackers or anything similar. All I remember seeing as of late are some macaroon type cookies.

  2. How were the pizza, muffins and rolls? Hope they have improved the quality. Our complaint was with the food. The service was outstanding.

Just off the summit as well. Pizza crust is still the same odd consistency. No muffins, no rolls, unless you mean the usual "eye" rolls when you ask for gluten free bread (which is store-bought Canyon Bakehouse, widely available.)

Any actual gluten free desserts are a gelatin-type consistency with a weird crust similar to the pizza. There is some effort being made but in my opinion they aren't up to par with land based restaurants in quality or knowledge, and it isn't close.

Also be careful...some things marked at the buffet as GF are clearly not (like a frosted layer cake made with regular flour or barley soup). Ask someone who seems to know. They'll tell you the item is not GF and then remove the GF sign. Unfortunately someone later in the week will put the sign back up.

  3. How warm are the public areas kept on an Alaskan cruise? I hate hot rooms.

We have only been on a Princess cruise in the south pacific and those public areas were freezing.

On our recent Pacific Coastal on Century we found the public areas to be VERY warm, despite temps consistently in the mid 60's outside. To our surprise the A/C worked very well inside the cabin though.

  4. It's the same menu and setup as on the other ships. One rotating fish item per day (arctic char/miso salmon, etc...) Only open for about two hours in the afternoon (approx noon to 2pm) and for breakfast. It's located inside near the fitness center and spa on deck 11.

  5. We are sailing Century this week and we got this e-mail message, but it was from an email address that did not have Celebrity in the domain name. The email address was some very strange thing and did not look like it was from Celebrity.

It seems like a spam or hoax, especially the part about "clicking here".

Have any of you ever got one of these from an odd e-mail addrss, and should I or should I not acknowledge receipt?

Here is what it looked like:

Please click here to acknowledge receipt of this message

This is an important message regarding your upcoming cruise.

Hello, this is Celebrity Cruises. We would like to provide you with some important information regarding your upcoming sailing onboard Celebrity Century. Please be advised that some travel documents state the Embarkation is from 10:30 AM to 2:30 PM, this window is for check in. Embarkation will commence once CBP finishes their clearance procedures. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation and we look forward to welcoming you onboard.

I just received the same message via an automated phone call, and it asked me to "press 1 to acknowledge receiving the message." My take was they're trying to cover themselves for possible CBP delays that may be beyond their control.

  6. Ship : Summit

    Cabin #: 3144

    Deck #: 3

    Class: 5

    Area: Aft

    Bed near: Bath

Quiet?: No...all sorts of loud noises going on all night

    Balcony view: N/A

    Balcony size: N/A

    Wind a problem?:

Problems/comments: One of the newer cabins added during solsticization...very large round window which was nice and the room was in excellent condition in a secluded hallway. But it was very noisy and I would not book it again.
