  1. When you purchase/reserve a specialty restaurant, does the price include whatever you want to eat, on the menu? For example, can I get more than one appetizer or two appetizers and a salad?

  2. Posing a question to those cruisers that have cruised Carnival and Celebrity. I need honest opinions on the food/entertainment on Celebrity compared to Carnival. I have cruised multiple times on Carnival and a couple of times on NCL and RCCL. The food seemed comparable, maybe a bit better on NCL/RCCL than Carnival but the entertainment was way better on NCL/RCCL than Carnival. Is it the same way with Celebrity or is the food/entertainment better (or worse/the same) than Carnival?

  4. We will be Platinum on our upcoming cruise to Alaska. We have two other cabins booked with (linked to) our reservation. Will those cabins be able to wait with us in the Platinum lounge/waiting area and board with us or will they have to wait in their 'zone' and board when their zone is called?

  5. I did get an itinerary emailed to me and I can see the itinerary on the website, however there is no mention of tendering into Juneau. Am I to assume that since there is nothing mentioned that we don't tender?

  6. I saw this from another response to this thread

It seems that Suite guests have the same perks as Platinum (according to what is listed on the VIFP members benefits page) except for being able to do the online check in 16 days prior and having your room ready when you board. We are going on an Alaska cruise in July and will be Platinum on that cruise. Do Platinum cruisers get a letter like this, also or do they get the usual 14 day check in and priority boarding but not having your room ready?

  7. We will be cruising on Carnival Spirit to Alaska in July 2023. I read somewhere that you have to tender to Juneau...that's not correct, is it? I would think we would dock on every port stop for an Alaskan cruise.

  8. Hi,

I was curious if anyone had any recent photos of cabin 6279 on the Carnival Spirt. If so, I would love to see them. I have looked at cruise deck plans but there is only one picture and I am not sure where else to look.

    Thanks, in advance. :classic_biggrin:

  9. We are going on an Alaska cruise next June and I am curious as to how different the activities on board an Alaska cruise vs a Caribbean cruise (which is what we normally sail) will be. Has anyone cruised to Alaska (recently) and can tell me if they still offer the same activities...ie trivia, karaoke, themed events, etc? I am assuming the menu will still be the American Table menu, but do they add more seafood options on an Alaska cruise? How many shows do they do during a 7 day cruise? Are the shops on board the standard Carnival shops or are they different? Since we do not leave the US (until the last stop in Victoria, BC) are the shops still considered duty free? Has anyone been on the Spirit? I know it has been in Sydney, and not Alaska but curious about the ship since it will be switching to Alaska for the next summer season.

Any information/tips/helpful hints will be greatly appreciated.

  11. Your Carnival Fun/Amenity points, for booking a group, should help with some of the things you can get for free or at a discount. I am sure your Carnival group agent has discussed this with you...if not ASK. If you have the meeting space, Carnival will be able to arrange refreshments to be provided during your meeting. I would also ask Carnival about adding any event/meeting time to the Fun Times to keep your employees more informed. There is also the Hub App that you can get the chat feature on (for 5.00 per phone) that will allow you to send messages out about meeting times and events...just as reminders. You can speak with the Carnival Event planning department to help you plan events outside of your meetings, ie parties, scavenger hunts, dinner arrangements, etc.

  12. So, now that Carnival is doing away with the individual packets of condiments and such, does anyone know if there will still be cream (for coffee) offered and will it be in karaffes  or small/tiny pitchers? What about in the cabin....do most cabins have coffee makers and if so, how do you go about getting cream and/or sugar? Do we have to get room service to bring it or go to the lido deck to get it? I was just thinking how enjoyable it will be to sit out on my balcony, on my Alaska cruise next summer, and enjoy a cup of coffee and didn't know if was going to be able to make it in my cabin or have to go to the lido deck to get it and then come back to my room.

DW and I went in June of this year. Our first Alaskan cruise. It is much more relaxed than a Caribbean cruise because the cruise is all about the scenery. I personally did not partake as much because I didn’t want to miss a photo opportunity. Not to say I was a tea totatler. SP.

The nightlife is much more subdued because it is port intensive. Get in to port early and then off on an excursion. We were in bed way earlier compared to other cruises. Hope this helps.

Hi, I see you cruised in June of this year. Do you mind me asking about the excursions/things you did on your itinerary? We are going in June of 2020 and I am like a sponge trying to soak up as much info as I can. We are also bringing our (17yr old at time of cruise) son with us who is actually more excited about this cruise than the Caribbean cruises he has been on...loves to take scenery pictures. Also, did you stay over in Seattle before/after your cruise? If so, where did you stay and what are some 'must see' things in Seattle?

Thank you, in advance for any information you can provide. :)

I would say the one thing we used the most was my Nikon binoculars. We sat on the balcony and watched pods of whales breeching. The other thing we used a lot was my GoPro. Took a lot of video and still shots. I had to buy some jeans. Florida native with only one pair. Wore jeans every day. We went in June of this year out of Seattle and only used a windbreaker. Fiancé wore capris every day. We had fantastic weather the entire week. In Skagway the temp got into the upper 70's. We have been to the Caribbean many times but this was our first trip to Alaska, and our best cruise ever. We also did two days pre cruise, staying in downtown Seattle and we loved the city. The only sad thing was all of the homeless in downtown Seattle. Enjoy your cruise!

Hi, we are going in June of 2020 and staying in Seattle a couple of days prior to sailing. Can you tell me where you stayed and, maybe recommend some things that are "must see" in Seattle? We will have a car.

  15. Trying to decide between Carnival Glory and NCL Breakaway. We have cruised Carnival for so long and thought we wld try something new but are a little worried about the unknown vs the known/comfortable. Carnival seems to have more food and entertainment that is included in the cost vs all the things you have to pay for with NCL. Can someone shed some light on this subject?

  17. We are looking at cruising again in the fall of 2018 ...the first or second week of October (can't say for sure b/c the school schedule is not out yet for next fall. It will be me, my husband and our (then) 15yr old son. My husband just likes to cruise, so the ports are not as big a deal to him..but he thinks it would be nice to see some new places. He also likes the smaller/midsize ships (Fantasy class or Dream class). I would kind of like to try a bigger ship for something new, plus I think it will have more options for my son. We have been to Grand Cayman, Cozumel, Nassau and Jamaica enough times that we are okay if we don't go back there for a while. We like the 7 day cruises more than the 3-4 day, but may be okay with a 5 day. We have sailed on the Dream (not since the 2.0 upgrades) and the Fascination (again...it will have gotten the upgrades before our cruise). We are trying to decide between driving to New Orleans and sailing on the Dream or flying somewhere and sailing on a ship we have not been on before. So, if we choose to try something new....Conquest, Magic (i know this is Dream class ship but I'm sure there are differences), Horizon or Vista?
