    • We are planning on getting married in 2020. We are thinking a cruise wedding is the way to go because our families live all over the country. It'll also be a small wedding, no more than 30 people and no bridal party or groomsmen. We would go with Carnival since we've sailed with them before and absolutely love them. But we have tons of questions.

      1. Is it proper etiquette to foot the bill for the guestrooms? Or is it expected of them to pay their portion? all of our guests paid for their own rooms..I honestly don't believe that anyone expected us to pay for theirs.

      2. Everyone will be flying or traveling to the port from out of state. Are we responsible for their travel costs? Like is that good etiquette..I don't want to be rude. Again, No.

      3. What do you include in their welcome bags? We didn't do wedding bags, I just found that most of it was wasted money (we are older though, so maybe this makes a difference) I had Yeti (generic form) cups made with our names/date on one side and You, Me & The Sea on the other side.

      4. If you had a small wedding did you do the whole reception thing or did you just have a nice dinner at the restaurant on the ship? We did the reception; TONS and TONS of food..the cake and decorations were awesome (we did bring our own topper and flowers for the cake; and then also brought a few frames pictures) the reception went extremely fast

      5. How was the planning process with Carnival? Carnival did amazing and took care of everything, I was a little high strung so I probably was calling to often to follow up to make sure everything was in place🙄

      6. Our families would not have met prior to our wedding, would this be weird/awkward? Ours hadn't either, it was fine.

      7. What is your best advice on planning this? Enjoy it, it will come off without a hitch, it will be perfect. Plan to spend a lot of money on pictures, they took AMANZING pictures and hard to narrow down so we spent a lot.  ENJOY because before you know it, it will be over and will be a whirlwind.  A year and half later I wouldn't change a thing..so extremely happy we got married on Carnival.

I have attached a few photos of the things we took as far as pictures for reception and flowers for cake and cake topper, let me know if you have any questions.

  1. All the bookings need to be linked together.

IF you are talking about a LOT of people I think you'd better call whoever you used to book the wedding and talk to them.

They were booked through different places (3 different places I believe). I have went through who the original booking (ours) and linked them together but this is still not a guarantee..I have been told to go to the dining room when we get on the ship and give them the information. So, this is the plan but nervous about this as I am sure getting married and the stress of that will take over!!

  2. Wedding cruise on Vista in July 2017; guests booked at different times so dining time options were different (early time not avaiiable for some). Since we would all like early time (sitting together) what is the best way to see if this can happen. Thank you

I was looking for something like this a few months ago! There is an Etsy store called JWDesignStudio that does something very similar to what you are describing. You can search by the store name, or search for "cruise itinerary map" and it will come up. I haven't ordered from them, but it was an idea I was exploring, as well. It looks like they will customize for you. Good luck!

I did locate this on Etsy, I sent him a message, waiting on a reply but wanted to say Thank You, this looks very very similar to what I was looking for and believe that it will work perfectly. Thank you for your time.

  4. Hoping someone may be able to help!! I hope that someone will be able to understand by description of what I am needing.

I have seen a map of the itinerary for a cruise, this will be our wedding cruise and I would love to find someone that can draw a map, with starting location being Miami (with a pic of a small ship, or the whale tail or something) and then follow the path with each itinerary port stops (and add small icons along the way ...I would like this drawn on possibly 11x13 size or so and then I would put a border around it and guests can sign or write a small Words of Wisdom or something of their choosing and then this can be framed.

Looking for someone that could do this, anyone ever had this done or someone that could do it, I have tried looking on Etsy but just not having much luck, Suggestions?? Thank you for your time.

  5. Question...We are booked for the Vista in July 2017, wedding paid for..has anyone know of the options if you don't want to go through the expense of hiring the DJ? I don't think that many of my guests will be dancing, I think it will be mostly mingling and visiting. I believe I was told we could do our own music that was on say an IPhone but we would have to have wireless speakers because we would not be able to use the outlets...anyone have experience or know anything about this? Thank you in advance.

  6. Both of these look great and very unique..debating on doing any invitations and/or STD at all. We will have very few people going, my family is just going to the ceremony and reception and then getting off, we have another set of friends that is doing the same d/t the fact that she will have a young baby. We have another set of friends and their family that will be cruising with us, just not sure if worth the effort and cost but kind of want to do just to do it.... IDK..

  7. 2017 is booking up fast. I had previously posted that we were going to get married on July 9,2017 on the Vista, but guess that was not the plan. I called and they are already booked up for this date, the next they had available was July 23, 2017...so July 23rd it is. We are booked, wedding ceremony/reception paid for...now the waiting begins. My daughter and I went to "look" at dresses this weekend and that truly all we could do, the bridal store was PACKED. They said that December/January would be a good time to start looking for a dress...uugh (I will be very white and pasty this time of year)...so I guess I will wait, would love to drop a few pounds before then anyway.

So...word form the wise, DON'T wait to book!:)

  8. Hmmm, they told me when I called that we could provide our own music by phone, CD, however but we would just have to have the means to play it, and that means would need to be battery operated (like speaker system), that we would not be allowed to plug anything in to an electric socket. They also so told me to keep in mind the size of the venue when thinking about our speaker system we were bringing.

Anyway, I will verify that when my planner calls.

I did print off all the attachments that I got by email, man alive there are a ton of things to fill out. I don't think we are going to do a lot of the traditional things that are in most weddings/receptions. My kids (21/20/18 will be standing up with me and not sure on my fiancé, because it is mostly family and he don't really have family that will be able to come. Don't think we will do the traditional dances, probably on the first dance for us and that's probably it...

Our wedding is July 2017, trying to figure out what is to soon to start looking for a dress...

Also, the whole licensing has me confused so I need to call to get clarification.

    Thanks for all your input

  9. It seems that our wedding may be very similar to yours. This to will be a second wedding for both of us...trying to figure out my comfort level, especially with the reception. TO have a DJ or your own CD is fairly expensive if you are really just wanting a first dance or two for the reception. Not sure my dad will be able to dance so the father/daughter song..I don't know, not sure about that, plus all the music I am finding is if I were a young bride for the first time. So...tell me about your reception and music...and then there really much time between the cake and pictures and things to really worry about music.(we are doing 1 reception). Carnival did tell me that we could for go both of those packages and bring music on a phone or something and use a blue tooth type speaker, it would just have to run off of a battery..so IDK, might do that. Any suggestions that you would have I would truly appreciate.

  10. Hello, My name is Jan and we are planning a July 9th, 6 day cruise out of Miami, on the Vista. We do not have the cruise booked nor do we have the wedding booked. I am wanting the wedding to take place the day we set sail in Miami because I do have family that will no be cruising. I want to go ahead and book now because I am so worried (yes I am the worrier) that locations will not be available or the cruise could be booked; my fiancé wants to wait until July 2016 to book (no, he worries about nothing). Just kinda freaking out how it all comes together.

Oh, I am the mother of 3 (19,18 and 17), they will be giving me away:). Very happy I found this board, it makes it very very real
