  1. OMG OMG, we got two test kits a week before we were going to cruise. My brothers test went without a hitch.

I went to do mine. Tried to put the 6 drops into the upper window and found the bottle was completely dry. Telehealth person saw my panicking and then caught on that I tried to switch to my brothers bottle and invalidated the test.

Then spent hours on hold with R/C and kit maker and pretty much told I am SOL.

Then the mass panic trying to find a place last evening how was willing to do a quick test and was turned away at each location.

I got an appointment today a a walk-in medi center were you pay 150 bucks for a quick PCR test and I am good to go.

I would highly recommend anyone who order these test to get at least 2 backup one. Sure your will wasting money but if you went through what I did after last night and the past 19 months it will be well worth it.

  2. We had a suite and should have been in the suite check in line. Rude woman at the terminal said nope that line is full and we have to go into the long zig zagging line.

A couple in front of us said they had the Genie and she said well it's too late. She said you should have called him before entering the terminal. The couple flagged down another worker and told her about the Genie and she took them out of the line and immediately got of hold of the Genie for them.

As far as your check in time. No one looked at anything until your at the counter and I'm sure it probably didn't matter what time your boarding time was.

They just announced that we’ll be back in Bayonne tonight by 9:30 for a medical emergency unrelated to Covid. Happy the for the patient but bummed for the rest of us because they’re going to close the shops and the casino at 7pm today.

Was on the ship too. Had ambulances at the ship in Canaveral and Nassau. Not sure what was going on. Hope everyone is OK.

Not a single drop of rain. Awesome cruise.

  8. I was making reservations of my upcoming Anthem cruise. I didn't realize this, but I guess there is a weight limit for the North Star? My husband doesn't make the cut. I feel bad because he was really looking forward to it. Not really a question, just wanted to share this info in case it would help anyone else. I reserved a spot for my son and I still....but I'm sad we won't be able to do it as a family.

I was on the anthem twice this year. In April I was standing in the standby line and was watching what was going on. Each group of people was lined up by the bar and one by one they start making their way towards the spiral stair case. Each person would stop and then look down before going up the staircase. That is when I realized they are weighing the people. I vary at times on each side of that weight limit. Not knowing what side of that scale I was on, I slowly slipped out of the line not wanting to feel the embarrassment and rejection of being turned away.

Now over the summer before going on the inaugural New England cruise, I took off twenty five pounds and was so proud. I couldn't wait to go back and give the North Star another shot. I was going up in no matter what. Now this time they didn't weigh anyone. I didn't get it but it was great.

From what I'm been told the weight limit has to do with the rescue harness that you might have to wear and repel down should the sphere ever gets stuck up in the air.

Just watch what is going on when they are running it and have fun.

Sometimes it is easier just to wait in the standby line instead of making reservations especially on port days.

BTW they warn you about the slight drop when they unlatch the boom, but it stills startles you a bit.

  9. Just turned Diamond plus as I went on the Anthem.

Yes you get 3 to pick from and you can do all three.

I did the paid tour when on the explorer. They took you to more places when paying for it. You get to see the 3 areas above, plus they take you down below the water line and you get to see the engine control room, the laundry,

take you down I-95, waste recycling and refrigeration area, the crew areas.

Yes did get to go behind the ice ring while Larissa Sherman was practicing. That was great to see.

Plus I got a tote bag, all access pass and lanyard.

This one of your perks know, so I say go for it. Plus Champagne and pastry in the galley.

  10. Very nice review. I was on there with you. I was wondering why they don't swing the North Star far over the side like you see in the ads.

The odd time from being in Saint John from what I am told is that the ship needs to enter and leave the harbor at high tide because there is a 30 foot difference in the tide.

The Captain's Corner is always my favorite. There is usually one or two know it all's there. Like the Coast Guard Auxiliary guy who was lecturing the Captain about water depths around Liberty Island and wanted to know if he had wrestle the wheel away from the Pilot. LOL.

  11. Ship looks good.

    Any damage at all?

Just got off from the N.E. cruise before it was to set sail into the storm.

I was last one her 2 weeks after the last big storm off the Carolina's.

Several satellite dooms were destroyed. Lots of shattered glass panels and sheet metal torn away around the indoor pool enclosure.

The one statue next to Johnny Rockets was torn off and the ceiling panels inside next Johnny Rockets and under the Sports Deck overhangs came down.

It is now all fixed up.

The other statue on the other side of the pool is now missing.

Still a few missing panels under the outside overhang on the Sports Deck.
