We have been able to pre-book dining available at all hours (non-shared tables) on the Regal: but wether they actually accommodate it at the time remains to be seen as we haven't sailed yet.

Previously we sailed a lot with NCL and although that was anytime dining we found that if you wanted to eat before 8 it was bedlam as the predominantly American passengers tended to eat early: in "leisure suits" as opposed to actual suits 😂

Just back from Regal, and all our pre booked dining times (6pm-ish, non shared tables) were honoured, with no queues. Service was pretty good too. I think ICF was very unlucky on Ruby.

Vista lounge is not used as well as it could be IMO. I have seen trivia (MUCH MUCH better venue for trivia than Live!

Absolutely agree with you. Princess live has nowhere to put a drink down, neither can you write comfortably. They provide a clipboard to rest on (but not the most hygienic looking things) Difficult to form a team when you are stuck sat in a line too.

The vista lounge was way underutilised on our cruise too. Many evenings it just sat empty 😔

    Otherwise,  a great cruise 😊

It's strange that you get Spanish adverts and Brian gets nude cruises.  Makes you wonder.😂

Takes out all the stress and forum discussions of what to wear on formal nights.

However, you'd definitely have to be 'beach ready' otherwise you still might not be smart enough to enter the MDR!  😜

  4. Hi Andy

Pleased about the news you gave about the sofas 👍

Won't have to pack the spirit level and bricks now!

This one for Michelle, perhaps 🤔.....

Have they got new hairdryers in the cabins?

Previous experience is that they were extremely underpowered.

    Thanks 😊

People talk about “the good old days” but for me personally we cruised with P&O for the first time over 10 years ago and thought it was dreadful and didn’t go with them again for many years. I now think they are great:

    That's exactly us too!

I follow these threads with interest and was wondering, with all the problems/issues and negativity, why cruise with P&O.

Read across lots of different boards and cruise lines and I think you will pretty much find that they all follow much of the same format..... The good, the bad and the ugly!

Always balance it with the positives, the live reviews, and useful tips and experiences from others, and don't dwell too deeply on stuff that you know won't bother you.

Our carpets were not good at all and bed settee really worn. It would be really bad if they didn't spruce up the cabins. They must be, surely ????

Yes....Our sofa was at such an angle that you couldn't even sit on it. Cabins definitely need some attention. 🤞

Still an enjoyable cruise, as they all are!

Yes, me. I haven’t received an email but when I look at my booking, the MDRs say no need to book. Sindhu and Beach House say book now but when I click, it say’s coming soon’. I have managed to book the Norwegian tasting menu.

You are doing slightly better than me!

Sindu, Epicurean, Beach House won't even let me click ...greyed out with 'coming soon'

Damn, knew I should have done it last night!

  9. Ok, now this is getting confusing...I got the 'book dining now' type email last night for Iona ; clicked through and had a quick glance, but as I was busy decided to look again today.

Today is here, and that has all changed to the 'coming soon' scenario.

    Anyone else had this?

  10. We have sailed on Iona 3 times,  but I'm afraid to say have never ventured to the gym!

Son and girlfriend will be sailing in June, and they want to know if there are showers and changing rooms available for gym users.

I can see changing rooms on the deck plan, but not sure if they are for use by spa guests only.

Can any gym users confirm if you can get a shower afterwards or if you have to drip sweat all the way back to the cabin?! 😰

    Many thanks

I'm disappointed but not surprised by a lot of these comments. Everyone can eat Vegan dishes, but not the other way round.

I read complaints about the food all the time on here yet a Vegan posts and people reply that they should try another cruise line.

It's not just about Vegans a lot of people are flexitarian and what about those who are lactose intolerant?

The food on Arvia (not just the excellent Green &Co) is definitely better so P&O can do it.

Unfortunately no organisation will ever please all of the people all of the time.

They can only hope to please most of the people for most of the time.

I have been so impressed with staff  members on P&O sitting with guests running through menu choices when they have indicated severe food allergies and intolerances, which is a totally different issue.

  12. From my experiences on P&O they offer meals with meat; meals for vegetarians; meals for vegans.

    All boxes ticked.

Perhaps if some are having a huge problem with the offerings, it might be the time to change their cruise line.

Personally, value for money, a comfortable ship, nice itinerary, reasonable food choices, pretty much does it for me.

P&O ticks that box as well.

We got them in October on Azura also. Just not on Iona.

No problem for us on Iona in January and February this year. (2 different, 2 week cruises)

Just asked the cabin steward for facecloths (bring my own body lotion), an extra bath towel and on one occasion a change of pillows as they were a bit hard for our liking.

Nothing was a problem and promptly appeared that same afternoon.

The extra towel and facecloths were replaced every day.

We were in a standard balcony and a lowly Atlantic tier.

  14.

    Interesting and informative read, thanks.

    However, sounds like a door-slammers paradise! 😩

Good luck to everyone. We have Premier on our next cruise, but will try and close our door quietly.

Sorry to our neighbours in advance.🙃

Luckily I live in Northampton, not Southampton, so I'm totally in agreement with you Doug😁

    Simon

Ah Come on!!!  We live in a great area . On the coast. £2 bus ride gets us to the port of Southampton! Trip to the IOW takes you 'abroad' 🤣

Be thankful they have. Haguesund is a one horse town with not much to recommend it. Alesund on the other hand is a fabulous stop. Enjoy 👌

Agree that Alesund has much more to offer.

However, (weather permitting ) there is a beautiful recreational area in Haugeshund called Djupadelen which we walked to from the ship.

It was a beautiful day and lots of people were out to play. Swimming, walking, family picnics. It is a very well kept area, paved trails, small waterfalls, even clean free toilets!

Tripadvisor has good reviews and lots more pictures.

I am probably in the minority here, but we do quite like the town and immediate surrounding area.

I have never been to Portsmouth before.

I am a keen shopper (I even take my own designated bag carrier with me) and from what you have all been saying it sounds like a decent day out.

History, shopping, food so what’s not to like (unless as I now know you happen to come from Southampton).

Absolutely, if shopping is your thing, do not miss Gunwharf.

It's also a very nice place to visit.

Whenever we have visitors staying with us, they always request a trip to Gunwharf Quays!

Here are all your fabulous possibilities!
