  1. Does anyone know if all the bars on RCI ships serve the same drinks? As in, if i go to vintages, hoof and claw, champagne bar etc, can i still get lava flows, pina coladas etc or should i stop in a bar on the way to the less crowded above mentioned bars?

  2. No cost cutting – been this way for years! Cruises less than seven nights traditionally did not have a welcome back party as part of the benefits. This is stated on the website as notation #2. Some ships doing a shorter sailing may have the top tier party but will include ALL categories of C&A members. The Monarch used to do this. As correctly noted by Bob, it is at the discretion of ship staff.

The first return trip was on Freedom and they had one then the next two 4 nighters on Monarch had them. I just ASSUMED...

  3. Are you just allowed to bring wine or can you bring other alcohol? Do you put it in your checked luggage for your flight and then move it to your carry on for the ship?

According to RCI website it is just wine. Most people are saying in your carryon.

  4. I don't think that actual "glass" is permitted around the pool due to possible breakage - you might need to pour your wine into one of the plastic "glasses" in the WJ.

It wont be the pool deck. Trying to find somewhere away from people. Good luck, I know.

  5. I personally didn't find Falmouth better than Ocho Rios at all! When I've been to Ocho Rios I have had two to three guys following me all around, but at Falmouth even the ladies wouldn't stop touching my girlfriends' hair. We were bothered so much she didn't want to walk around there for more than 20 minutes.

We are sailing into Falmouth in March and we are going straight on an excursion. The experience might have been better if I was traveling with a group of guys instead of having a girl to worry about...

    Thanks for the info.

  6. I think what Bob meant by public venue is a lounge, dining room, or some place that has a bar and/or servers. Like others have said, if you're pouring in your cabin, you can pretty much go anywhere.

I was thinking about taking the bottle out on a deck and chillin in the lounge chairs.

  7. You are subject to a $25 per bottle fee if you take the bottle to a public venue. However, if you fill glasses, you can take them anywhere without a fee. You can get glasses at a bar.

    Is a deck considered "public"?

  8. I was on the alternate 5 day itinerary and 4 day itinerary over Christmas and found both of those had identical show times and such as both itineraries had sea days the first and last day with the ports in the middle. Your itinerary is the same. I still have the compasses if you have any questions. Haven't figured out how to upload stuff here yet.

Will ya email me at stuarttwiddy@hotmail.com. I have many questions about the 5 night.

  9. agreed on ocho rios every 5 feet a cabbie would bombard you and no wasn't a word they are used to. Falmouth is entirely different very nice shopping area and wasn't bombarded at all after leaving the compound

Glad to hear it. I would hate to not see somewhere ive never been. Thanks.

  10. We will be going there at the end of this month. We have been to ocho rios and said if we ever go back we wouldnt get off the ship because of constant bombardment of people. Is Falmouth the same? Is there any shopping area before you get out into town? Thanks!

  11. I prefer balconies sothat I have my own private outdoor space. I don't like confined areas (interior cabins are claustrophobic to me) and I'm not comfortable in crowds.

Beyond that, when we travel with our kids, it gives us a place to go while they settle down to sleep, without us leaving them alone in the room.

And when it's just the wife and I, part of the purpose of the vacation is to reconnect with each other. And you can reconnect much better on the balcony than on the pool deck. :D

    Yes, I went there.

You didn't show up on the internet did you?:D

  12. I feel the same way, except, we get balconies and junior suites. I can't understand why people travel in interior rooms. I suggest "different strokes for different folks" applies.

    One word, MONEY.

  13. In April we will be occupying a Promenade room for the first time. We have had ocean views, balconies, and an interior room. We love the balcony, but only purchase a balcony if a good deal is offered for an upgrade.

When we would get back from the Caribbean port, we would go to the buffet and take our trays down to our room and sit on the balcony for our lunch with our wine. On our Alaska cruise, we would watch for whales and dolphins from our balcony.

How did you like the Promenade stateroom?

They are ok. If it wasnt for my wife we wouldnt have.

  14. My wife and I have been on 4 RCI cruises. Twice we have had promenade rooms and twice interior. As much time as we spend in the room i just cant understand why people get balconies, suites etc. just would like some opinions. Thanks.
