  1. That's how ES works. It shows that your penalty is the full deposit; however, you lose $50 and $200 is held for a future cruise.

Ok, got it. I think we have come up with a solution though. I called Carnival, there had been a pvp emailing and calling me off and on since my first cruise. Anyway, I spoke with him and he advised me to add the new person to my booking and in not so many words let what ever happens with the person that cant go....just happen. So thats what im going to do. Thank you all for your replies, I definitely appreciate it.

  2. If Carnival turns you down then just have the other party cancel. The cancelling person will lose $50.00 and the remainder will be held for a future cruise.. Then just have the person who wants to go added to your cabin. Be aware if you go solo you will be charged the solo supplement fee ( higher rate ).

This sounds like the paying for a name change option I was asking about, with the difference being my original person cancels ahead of time and then I call to add the new guest???

  3. Good morning all,

Of course I have searched this forum as well as the FAQ on carnival's website and could not find the answer im looking for. I am booked under the early saver promotion and would like to know is there any other fee/penalty other than the $50 for changing a guest? My original cruising partner can no longer go but someone else wants to.

    Thanks!

  4. Hello All, Trying to take advantage of the reduced deposit sale and looking at the Magic for next June. All of my cruises I have had the bed by the balcony and this time am trying to have the sofa by the balcony. Looking at deck 8 and thinking about maybe trying a Lido balcony for the first time. Any and all suggestions would be appreciated guys!!!!

  5. Well neighbor, I think growing up in or close to NYC helps us to deal with all different kinds of people that folk in the countryside don't often interact with. We learn how to deflect, ignore, parry with, engage and even de-escalate in all kinds of situations and with all types of diverse people.

By some of the responses here, some cruisers say they felt threatened or imposed on by ordinary working folk, tour guides, people different than themselves, and yes, even scam artists and con men that NYers would just shrug off.

I couldn't agree with you more. I think any big metropolis has its "seedy" areas and you would think if one ever encountered them you would know to just as we say "keep it movin" And thats exactly how I handled Ochos. With that said, after you have described its recent reno's, I kinda wish we were going there.

  6. MoBay is a fantastic port, great beaches, a few AI's, coffee shopping, catamaran sailing. All I see in Falmouth is a manufactured shopping corral. At least they tried to maintain some of the original architecture to the building design. Falmouth really isn't close to anything, so shopping in the port area is the big thing to do there, so it's boring to me.

You mentioned Ocho Rios being a pit and when I first went there it was sketchy. I returned this past January and it has to be the most improved port in the Caribbean. It went from having all kinds of beggars, scammers, dealers, phony dealers, etc. to people doing landscaping, planting and cleaning along better roads than I have here in NY. Didn't see the riff raff I used to, very impressed with how it got turned around for the better.

Evan, thats definitely encouraging to hear. I was proposed to multiple times, was offered weed more times than that oh and was also told me I would enjoy being left behind on the island. And yeah I know all about the suburbs of Westchester, grew up in Mt Vernon went to high school in Elmsford and worked in Valhalla.

  7. Curious, never been to Jamaica before, is Montego Bay a better port than Falmouth? What would you recommend doing while in that port?

I haven't been to Mo Bay but I have been to Falmouth and granted it was back when they were still weren't quite done with the port area but I was not Impressed. Also didnt care for Ocho Rios the one time I was there, so this is a welcomed change. As for what I would recommend? Well this is what i'm looking possibly doing....

Our Montego Bay Dunn's River Falls and River Tubing is a wet and wild combo tour that allows you to enjoy two of Jamaica's most amazing natural attractions; it's fresh water rivers, and amazing cascading falls.

You tour begins with a pick up directly from your cruise ship port or Montego Bay hotel where our friendly driver/guide will greet you and take you on your wet an increadible adventure to Dunn's River Falls and the White River Tubing Adventure.

Your Tour begins with a drive to Dunn's River Falls where we do our best to beat the rush from the large cruise ship tours. At Dunn's River Falls we take adventure to new heights. Bathrooms, changing facilities and lockers are available for rent at the falls. You may climb the falls in supervised groups or on your own if you are up to the challenge. If the climb is too much you may walk along the side and enter the water from several well placed entry points. This guided climb is not suited for everyone, but has been mastered by visitors of all ages. If you are not comfortable climbing the falls you can enjoy them from several vantage points along the length of the cascading river. Our time at the Falls is approx 1 hour and 30mins, and provides time for you to do a little local shopping, sample some local foods or simply relax on the beach.

Following Dunn's River Falls we take a leisurely 20-30 minute drive over to the White River where your River Tubing Adventure will begin two miles from the sea. There are bathrooms, changing rooms, and life jackets available at the beginning of the tour. During your trip down river you will travel through 7 rapids.

Glide through lush tropical greenery and take in the amazing scenery as you gently wind down the lazy river. This is a journey that you will not forget. Your driver, will safe guard your belongings during the trip, and will meet you at the end of your ride where you can spend a few minutes shopping at the local craft center.

Our Jamaica River Tubing portion last for approximately 1 hour and 15 mins, depending on the time you spend at the midway stop. This River Tubing Adventure is guided by two guides leading groups from 5-15 people. Generally we provide one guide for every 5 tubers. At the midway point you are given the opportunity to do a 20 ft Cliff plunge into the river. The depth is over 12 feet and this is a safe and fun jump to make.

Professional photographers are on hand to capture your special moments during this tour. The purchase of these photos is optional. You are welcome to bring your own cameras to capture these unforgettable moments.

Following your tubing adventure we take you on a beautiful drive through Ocho Rios famous Fern Gully on our way back to your cruise ship or hotel. During our drive we will have the opportunity to take photos and enjoy some panoramic views of the Ocho Rios Bay.

Following your River Tubing and Dunn's River Falls Excursion, your guide can alsol take you to Island Village. From here you can do a little shopping or stop by Jimmy Buffet's famous Margaritaville Bar and Restaurant.

  8. Does anyone have any info on Breeze cabin 9419? Is it in a decent location? Any noise issues? (even though I could sleep through a world war) I booked a BL and was just assigned this cabin. I checked the cruise line room for pics but there weren't any.

    Thanks!!!!
