  1. We are staying in Barcelona for 3 nights before boarding the transatlantic...

    We booked Ayre Hotel Rosellon.

Its right near Sagrada Familia (behind it - a nice view of it from the rooftop bar), also we have the hop on/hop off booked for 2 days, we can board that at the Sagrada Familia, so the location worked well. :)

  2. I ended up booking 1 way airfares.

We are flying from Adelaide (in Australia) to Paris (that was $900 per person with Etihad Airways), then $100 per person a couple of days later to fly with Air France to Barcelona.

We are doing the Transatlantic to New York, so seeing a few spots around the US before flying home... Flying with Hawaiian Airlines home from Honolulu to Sydney, that was around $800 per person to do that.

Probably the more expensive way to do it, but we will see a lot. :)

  3. If the rate is still at the lower price, you should just call Carnival and tell them you would like to apply for a price drop. Say nothing about the other issue you had. If the person you speak with says you need to fill out the form first, say thank you, hang up and call back again. There is no way I would give up on a $500+ price drop if it was legit. Can't hurt to try again.

That rate unfortunately is gone now.

I'll just have to keep an eye out. :)

  4. I had an Early Saver request rejected on one occasion. I e-mailed "earlysaver@carnival.com" with my request for them to review the information I provided. 1 business day later I received a response that they had reviewed my request and approved the OBC.

The OBC from Price Protection never shows up on the account page, but is reflected in the cruise documents.

    Good Luck.

Thank you, I have just done that.

  5. Hi,

Earlier today I found that there was a significant different in cost of a cruise that I have booked.

I filled out the Early Saver form and was advised via return email that this has been approved and the difference was applied via OBC. This actually was not the case, nothing was applied to my cruise OBC (I have paid in full)

This was a large difference in what I had paid, so I called Carnival to query this. The lady I spoke with told me that she couldn't do anything and that I would need to send it through again and detail in the comments section about what I had seen/what was not applied.

I did this, filled out another form and was advised again via return email that it was approved. But again, nothing was applied to my account.

Again, called Carnival and the man I spoke with started out very helpful, he confirmed what I already knew and advised that he would speak with his manager to see if it could be applied.. After he came back, he advised me that he has not seen that rate at all (& completely different to the conversation we were having before he put me on hold)

I am really unhappy with this service. I never make a fuss about anything like this, but it was at least $500 difference that was showing up which clearly is a large amount.

Is there someone perhaps via email that I can contact about this? By phone Carnival are not any help at the moment.

    Thanks :)

  6. On the topic of price reductions - is everyone else finding it that Carnival won't do it over the phone anymore? (as in apply the rate reductions)

I had 2 people tell me recently that I needed to complete the price protection form. With the first one, the rate had dropped quite a bit and by the time Carnival had got to it that new rate was gone :(

  7. doing the last Europe cruise from Athens to Barcelona, then heading on the Transatlantic from Barcelona to New York (back to back) both in October next year :)

Just got regular inside rooms, only in the rooms mainly to sleep, so kept the money instead of purchasing a balcony etc for spending money :)

  8. I'm booked on the Vista TA, and hopefully the Med cruise before that.

I think both Carnival and Royal both have good things about them. Its good that we are lucky enough that potentially its possible to get the best out of both :)

its just unfortunate that Royal are so much more in $$.. We haven't cruised Royal since our honeymoon in 2009, we have only booked the Oasis in May because we just couldn't pass the price up.

Looking at more cruises for January, Royal cost that bit more again.. but who knows what will happen, there is always a sale that we can't pass up.

  9. I'm a bit of a planner...

I don't really like to stick 100% to a plan, I figure its always good going in with a plan, but if things need to change it's ok.

Normally, I probably wouldn't bother with planning on a ship, but Oasis has SO much I figure I would be best to try all that we can.

I've so far made dinner reservations at a couple of places, and booked all our shows.

I just have to book cupcake decorating class for me, character breakfast for 2 of us and a shore excursion.

I've checked our activities, signed all our waivers, checked out food menus, drinks menus and prices.

I feel like I am good to go!

I am sure things will change though when I read the daily times that come out

  10. Hello,

I am hoping that somebody could explain My Time Dining to me...

To me, this concept was similar to what was done on Carnival, whereas you just go to the MDR whenever you chose - if need be, they gave you a buzzer and you would go back when a table was ready.

From what I have read, I am thinking that is not the case for Royal Caribbean. Do I need to book in a time for dinner each night on our cruise planner on the RC website?
OR, if I didn't want a set dining time each night - are we able to go to the MDR whenever we choose, and wait for a table?

I have noticed on some documentation that RC have sent us that it has us at wait listed, but we haven't requested a set time..

    Thank you :)
  11. Hello :)

I often feel if I don't book a lot of things before I leave, it just won't happen when I am away...

I have seen on lots of reviews that people go to Giovanni's for lunch, and I was wanting to try it out.. When making restaurant reservations, I noticed that only dinner was available.

Do I need to wait until I am onboard to book lunch? :)

    Thanks.

  12. Hello,

I am not expecting a price drop, probably at all - or not yet anyway.

But for when/if, I want to make sure I am looking at the right thing.

I paid for category 4B, but got a free upgrade (when booking) to category 4D.

When looking at the prices on the fare viewer, do I look for the reduced price under 4B (which was what was paid for), or category 4D (which is where I am staying)?

    Thank you :)

  13. The rules if you book with an Australian TA or RCI Australia are different to the US rules. If you book in Australia they will not apply the new rate. They may allow you to cancel and rebook but possibly at the cost of some of the new benefits.

When I rang, I spoke with an American... now they don't want to help at all with my booking (called to try make a payment) a few weeks ago

Called yesterday to the Australian number to have a price reduction applied.

Its frustrating when there are different rules, they should just have the same ones. :) But it's not so bad
