We took this cruise last fall. The ports for Saigon and Bangkok were two hours from citys.These are huge industrial ports.We hired private drivers from info off trip advisor and were very happy we did.These are long days with so much to see,our driver and guide provided so much information.They also can customize to your interests.
The weather is unbelievably hot and these citys are very busy and confusing.
I can not remember exactly what we paid (500 dollars or so)but worth every penny.We have traveled alot but negotiating these ports solo would be really hard I feel.
Enjoy it is a trip of a lifetime!

I am also on the Maasdam and it is fabulous.The ship is in excellent condition,the staff are friendly and can not do enough for you.The food is delicious.Everything on this cruise has been done with perfection.
