  1. On a scale of 1 to 10, I would give Victor Bodden a 10+++. We did the "Best Of Roatan, with Howard as our driver. Howard was wonderful!!! Our friends' driver who we met up with had Ronald as know as "Ronald McDonald", who was also wonderful!!! Howard took us where ever we wanted to go, gave us interesting local information. Howard and Ronald had our groups connect after a couple of hours so we could all be together. The Monkeys were AMAZING! The zip lining was SOOO MUCH FUN!!! I would HIGHLY recommend Victor Bodden!

  2. I am looking for a place to chill by the beach and do some snorkeling with 3 teenage boys. We don't want inflatables and crowds (if that is possible). I was planning on going to Playa Palancar but a friend just said I need to go to Chankanaab instead. I decided to see what cruise critic had to say. Thank you for any input!

  3. I am curious how the entertainment is on the Norwegian Jewel, anyone know? I have talked to the cruise line and they said the ship has one stage so it does not have a dedicated show like some ships. That the entertainment may not be published until we are on the cruise. Not that it matters but I am curious if anyone has any feedback on what I can expect.

  4. Someone told me that I would bring my own bottle water onto the ship, the Norwegian Jewel. I have talked to the cruise line, I would have to carry it in my carry on. I know they sell bottle water, but it is ridiculously expensive. Carrying on a case of water seems like such a hassle, but should I? Or is it good enough to bring a sports bottle and refill it in a restaurant or bar?

  5. Thank you, I have checked the website out. I emailed them yesterday too. I was hoping someone here had an opinion about snokeling from the beach or is it necessary to take the snorkel tour there. Also I saw they rent jet skis, my 18 year old boys are interested in that too. Also if the beach has chairs, if we can rent one and how much. The website doesn't list prices or times.

    Thank you for your help!

  6. Can anyone give me any information about Playa Palanca? The little I know is that it is a nice quiet beach that offers snorkel tours. I was hoping for a nice non touristy beach that we could snorkel at without a tour. I was also hoping to rent a jet ski for my 18 year old boys.

    Thank you for any information!

  7. In one of the threads someone suggested to walk from West End to West Bay instead of the Ferry. Does anyone know what the distance is? How long it would take to walk it? That sounds like a great idea. I'm not one to sit around and love to explore but yet I still would be on the beach.

  8. As others have stated, it's not the same place and located at opposite ends. Here's a map to show you the locations of them.

I personally would not do both of them together in one day. I'm sure it's not cheap to hire Bodden to take you around the island to see the sites, then you add LFK on to that, it would be an expensive day to me and not worth it. I would pick one or the other. With LFK, you price of admission includes them picking you up at the cruise terminal, you transportation over to their restaurant at Frenchy 44's and the boat over to the island and then all back again. So, transportation is already paid for and covered. Kind of pointless if you already had a driver arranged with Bodden.

I have 2 complete reviews listed in my signature line for LFK if you are interested and another from West Bay the day we were there as well.

Thank you for the map! It definitely gives me a better understanding. How do I get to your signature line? I would like to read your reviews of Little French Key as well as West Bay.

    Thank you!

  9. I believe that port is Coxen Hole.

Yes, French Key has a boat, it looks like a pontoon to me going back and forth from the mainland. I have not been on it but I doubt it takes more then 10 mins. I understand one need take a snorkle boat out to be safe at LFK. It is on the wind ward side of the island and can be rough.

This photo shows LFK in the foreground and the mainland behind.

Perhaps think about Bodden taking you to West End, shop a bit, snorkle in Half Moon Bay and soak up the island feel. If ya have time hop a water taxi to West Bay, have lunch, and snorkle. Your driver can meet you in West Bay and take you back.

I don't know that West Bay is all that much of a unique beach but it is post card beautiful. The snorkeling from the Wall end is delightful. This thread has heaps of info about snorkeling West Bay.

    Below is West Bay Beach.

The thread you recommended is wonderful!!! Thank you!

  10. Thank you. We are on the Norwegian Jewel that docks at the Port of Roatan cruise ship terminal from 8:00 to 4:00. My intentions are for Bodden to drive us around the island to see the sights, possibly to a little shopping (I have boys so the shopping will be little :(), then hang out at the beach. I would like to see a beach that most unique to Roatan. Possibly have my teenage boys snorkel? If Little French Key is an island off of Roatan, is there a ferry to get to it? How much time does it take to get to it? Or am I just better off at Bananarama or West End or West Bay Beach?

Thanks for any input!! I VERY much appreciate it!

  11. Ok, I'm not trying to sound stupid but....Are Bananarama and Little French Key basically resports on the island? I was on both their websites trying to find out exactly where they are exactly located. If they are both resorts and I'm only in port for 8 hours, shouldn't I just pick one? I have booked Bodden Tours to take us where ever we want to go, but I'm trying to figure out where we want to go.

    Thanks for any information!!!

  12. We are on the Norwegian Jewel, we will be docking at Punta Langosta. Can you recommend what beach to go to? Could we walk there or should we plan to get a taxi? Thanks for your help!!!!

  13. We will be in port in Cozumel March 30. Wondering if there are any beaches in walking distance or do I need to book an excursion? I saw posts about Mr. Sanchos Beach All Inclusive Day Pass, but what I really just want is to lay on a nice beach, I really don't care about unlimited drinks.

    Any information is MUCH appreciated!!
