  1. If You board early on Day 1 count that as a sea day, it is quite easy to drink the 5 drinks on the 1st day just to get you into the Vacation Mood:)

I may not break even on the 4 port days on my upcoming Jewel Cruise, but I will probably have more than 5 on the 2 Sea days and the 1st day.

Even if I don't break even, who cares, I'm on vacation and if I don't spend the money on the Drinks package my DW will sure spend it in the Spa:D

I'm with you on this one. I got one the last cruise and plan on my cruise in 22 days as well. I maybe broke even on the last one between the drinks, the after dinner dessert shots, bottled water, and a diet coke a day but I was ok with that. It also allowed me to try new drinks that I may not have if I had to buy them.

  2. I agree with the Punto de Vista. We ate there in Feb of 2014 and we loved it. They didn't have the rooftop then (at least that we were aware of), but we had a great meal sitting outside at street level. The food was amazing and loved the mofongo. We will back there in February of 2016 and I look forward to going back there.

  3. We have a port intensive cruise in February 2016 and I plan on getting the premium package. I have it broken down to what I consider a break even for me and should be able to do this easily:

4 bottled waters, 2 frozen (or drink of the day) (I'm still trying to get true price on these), 1 soda somewhere along the line, 1 beer or glass of wine with dinner and our tradition is to always do the after dinner dessert shot in the MDR. If I don't drink as much during the port days, I'm sure the first and last day will not be a problem and I don't drink to get drunk, it's vacation and we splurge.

I got the package on the last port intensive cruise and I did break even and I was happy with not having to worry about anything and I could try new stuff that I normally would not have. I remeber one of my cruises I ordred an appletini and it was so strong I couldn't drink it but paid $10 for it so felt I needed to. I was miserable afterwards. With the package, I would not have to force myself to drink it.

  4. On our last cruise we purchased the Premium for me, my wife and my son (we were celebrating his college graduation). For our under-21 daughter, she likes the Refreshment package. We found that it easily paid for itself and allowed us to try things from the drink menu that we normally would not try. On the cruise, I like to have a drink before dinner, wine with dinner, and we also liked the "shot of the day" as part of dessert. We have already added it to our reservation for our cruise on the Freedom next Summer.

I LOVE the "shot of the day" as well. How much are those up to now with the new pricing? Two cruises ago(before the packages) all six of us at the table bought them every night. The last cruise I was the only one who bought a package so I drank one every night for my dessert. I was not going to buy a package this time, but not sure I can give this up....LOL I am just now working the numbers to see if I should change my mind back and get the package. I at the most broke even last cruise, (maybe just a tad under, but only a few bucks) so with the price increases, maybe I better just do this.

  5. I found one I am possibly interested in staying at thru VRBO but I have a question. Was it easy to get a taxi when wanting to go to dinner or the next morning when we need to get to a cruise ship. Since they are much more private I was not sure how easy it was to be able to get out and about. Thank you!

  6. After dinner shots are available with the package but unless you want to pay for the special shot glass for a keepsake, they will come in a normal shot glass you cannot keep. Also you are not limited to the shot of the day you can ask for any of them.

Thank you Jill. I don't care about keeping the glass. My liquor cabinet at home is stocked with enough from the last cruise so I am good with that. I just liked those desserty shots after dinner. I may not come out ahead on this and I told my DH that but the convenience and being able to try new things I normally would not have is very appealing to me.

  7. I have to admit, at first I was not going to purchase any of the alcohol packages, but am now reconsidering this (especially if my husband and I can purcase different packages based on what we drink). We are also in port somewhere 5 out of the 7 days so was thinking that we would not benefit. I do have a question though. On our last cruise we drank the special after dinner drinks (shots) every single night. I am asuuming those would be included but want to make sure.
