  1. i have been getting the regular casino rate offers and the premier casino offers the past couple of years from carnival; however, this year i have only received the premier casino offers. That's still all i see today.

I have a carnival cruise already booked for september, but like some of the others have stated, it is looking more and more worthwhile to check out norwegian since carnival doesn't seem interested in my casino business.

    agree

  2. I totally agree with this. If you have a job where you deal with the public, you need to have a smile on your face when you are engaging with people directly. You need to leave your personal business and feelings out of your job. There is nothing worse to me than having someone wait on me or check me out at the store, etc. and not acknowledge my existence. You don't have to chat me up, but I do expect at least a smile. If you're having a bad day...you need to keep it to yourself and treat people with courtesy nonetheless.

If you're not polite to me it is going to affect your tip if you are in a position that encourages them. Like I said, I require nothing more than a smile or a polite nod of the head to let me know you're aware that you are are dealing with a person and not a robot.

Walking around a cruise ship looking like you'd rather be somewhere else or looking like a "sad sack" is not appropriate for cruise employees.

I cruised in 2012 at spring break right after my youngest DB passed away. I had to go on the cruise because it was paid for and it was my DS's and his friend's spring break. They were looking forward to the cruise as were I and my DH. Even though I would have rather been somewhere else. I still smiled at everyone and carried myself in a manner that encouraged people to interact with me. I was involved with many people on that cruise, including our table mates. No one even knew, unless I told them (as I did my table mates), that I had just lost someone I dearly loved. I did this and I wasn't even an employee on the ship. Why bring others down with my problems?

If you can't keep your personal business and feelings separate from your job...you shouldn't be doing that job. If you're in a service-type job, you need to treat people in a manner that would make them want to return to that cruise, restaurant, club, etc. If I were an employer there would be no excuse for any employee of mine not being at the top of their game while on the job.

    That's JMHO.

    Agree!!

  3. My partner of 15 years had cancer twice, we would cruise every six months. He is now gone but I still have those great cruise memories. Please go and enjoy your time together and make some memories, I am so glad we did. I smile every time I think of those days!! Be strong and God Bless you and your family.

  4. Used my Kindle on Sunshine last Jan, I was able to log onto the the carnival web page for the ship for free. The page had lots of good info - List of all ship activities, port info etc. Also used as others have said in port with free WI-FI, much better than lugging a laptop!!

  5. I got off Sunshine last sunday, I will never cruise Sunshine again not for me. Best food on any cruise and great crew but to many problems on the ship - Shower, sink, buckets, carpet fans in the hallways numerous things just not working right. Aircon was worked on ect. I must say this ship had the most work related noise of all my 13 carnival cruises. Ship should be back in drydock and fixed before sailing again. I booked Carnival Dream out of New Orleans for cruise 14. Maybe cruise 13 was just bad luck!!

  6. I was on this same cruise it was number 13 with carnival. I had the cabin from He**! The shower was always hot/cold hot/cold, went to brush my teeth one day and the top of the faucet came all the way off, and numerous other problems with the cabin. That was the last straw I went down to guest services and complained ( I never complain) told them this was not going to work for me. They suggested I go to the spa and take a shower NO that is not what I paid for, just give me what I paid for. I got the shower fixed after three days and the sink fixed in five minutes, also got an onboard credit for the bad shower. The Sunshine has some major problems with the pipes and the toilet working. This was know before the cruise and I hold the cruise line responsible for this. I will still cruise carnival, we made the best of it and still had a great trip. Hope you feel better and I would call carnival and let them know about how you got your cut -

  7. I stayed in a 1A a couple months ago. We had 3 rooms in a row: two 1As, and a category PT. All 3 rooms had 2 portholes. The PT had 2 regular beds. The other 2 rooms had 1 bed plus a sofabed. They are very nice. They were all bigger rooms than the standard interiors, even though both categories are considered to be lower than standard interiors. Plus we had an outside view. No way that any of us would've taken a 4A or any regular inside over what we had. These were room #s 2212, 2216, 2220 on either Triumph, Conquest, Splendor, or Dream classes.

Most of the 1As do not have the portholes. 3 on each Conquest class ship have 2 regular beds, 2 on each Triumph/Sunshine ship have 2 picture windows. Some are the exact same size as regular interiors, but with an upper bunk instead of the 2nd bed on the floor, which creates more floor space. If you are not a couple, these 1As are a great way to go.

I am booked on conquest cabin # 2216 in ten days. What is the layout of this cabin?? Thanks in advance!!
