I am getting a little worried for our March 19 cruise given the issue with the azipod.  This is deja vue for us....same thing happened in February 2020 and NA had to cancel our cruise and head to the repair shop to fix an azipod.  They emailed us that we had been rebooked on a different ship with a different itinerary for the same week.  We ended up on the NS a week later.  Thankfully we had booked our air through HAL and they covered the change for us.

    What are the chances????

I am following this on the roll call.  After our two covid cancellations we took a cruise last September and ended up losing ports that were our main calls because of Hurricane Fiona.  Maybe those of us from southern Ontario are jinxes! 🙄

  2. Oh my, I am one of those following your posts, and so sorry for your most unfortunate circumstances.  I am impressed that you can keep some sense of humour , and that by continuing to write you are keeping busy.  And hopefully it helps to keep your spirits up.
We too were to be on this cruise and bailed about 3 weeks before.  It was tough because this was the second time we booked this same cruise ..the other being the first cruise that was cancelled by HAL in 2020, just days before we were to go.

This time, it was more fear of getting the virus in the air, on connecting flights , than cruising. And also we were not wanting to go through all the hoops of travel to and from Canada.
Glad to hear you have a balcony!  You could even be in “our” cabin, 5170.

    Best wishes.

There is a person, Fannish, on the cruise forum at TripAdvisor.  Great reviews.  Go to that forum and put 8n the name of the ship + cabin  and those posts should be close to the top

Been in touch with her.  Thank you!

Halfacts.com has photos, is that what you are thinking

not exactly.  There also were comments on the location, noise level, etc. from passengers who had a specific cabin .  But thank you for your quick response!

  5. Hi - I have not been on here for quite some time.  There used to be a page, or link to one, where you could read cruiser reviews of cabins on various

ships.  Anyone know how to access this info?  I am specifically interested in HAL.

    Cheers!    Brnowl

Not sure what you like to do, here is a link to my “review” of my excursions. I was there last October, and had a great cruise. Enjoy yourself whatever you end up doing.

BTW -  I am a fairly active 65 year old with a very bad knee.

Thank you for your ideas.   Much appreciated!   I think I shall follow up on that luau.

  7. Just off the ship. It is in good shape. I plan on writing a review when the snow stops and we can get home. We found several issues that could be fixed with training or new staff. The cabin stewards and bar staff did their usual great job.

Did you write your review? I would like to know more about this ship. Has it had recent refurbishment?

I know you are still facing East Coast storms!

  8. It has been awhile, but we decided on taking one of the Hop on Hop Off buses, there are a few routes. They run often, and you can pick one to fit your time. The one we took went past several buildings designed by Gaudi, and definitely we got off at Sagrada Famila. We did get off there, and visited inside too, but you will have to see what your time allows. Lots to see from the bus, with audio commentaries . Don't get off at the zoo. Not only is there not enough time, it turned out to be a bad spot to get another bus.

  9. We're thinking about booking a transatlantic but my DH is worried that he will get bored at sea for 7 days in a row.

Can anyone give us ideas on what you did that kept the boredom down while at sea?

We have done 2 transatlantic cruises, both with HA, and loved them!

But here is the thing...we did back to backs, with a cruise with more port stops, and the transatlantic for the way back, when we were ready to unwind, and kick back on the balcony with a glass of wine!

There are so many things you CAN participate in , if you wish, all depending on your interests. There are pool and deck activities that might appeal, planned by crew members. There are ship tours, cooking demos, educational talks on a wide variety of things, depending on speakers booked. Movies, bingo, card games, reading, lounging poolside, participating in game show type events, are some of the possibilities. There is a gym, or basketball or other courts, and many more sport activities depending on your ship. Lots you can do, or not do.

  10. I think you are going to enjoy HA, although I cannot compare the two, as we have done 7 or 8 cruises with them , and are just about to go on our first Princess cruise. We are in our 60s , but started cruising HA in our early fifties. The food is great, specialty restaurants great, and BBKing club too, as mentioned. We have always met interesting people onboard. I believe the crew to be second to none for service. We are off on the British Isles cruise on Princess. I am sure we will enjoy it. The cruise you are taking sounds amazing, I have been looking at that one! enjoy!
