  1. We had similar timings with a flight from Doncaster. After a quick change of clothes (hand luggage) and lunch on the ship we were able to enjoy a couple of hours in Dubrovnik Old Town. Upon return our luggage was outside the room and I had plenty of time to unpack before the muster.

Thanks to all the helpful replies to my previous posts, I knew to get a taxi to Pile Gate from the port. It cost 13 euro each way and the drivers were very efficient and helpful.

  2. We recently did the Classical Greece itinerary: I push my mother in a wheelchair as she can walk only very short distances.

DUBROVNIK taxi from cruise port to Pile Gate. Entrance to Old town looks like steps but there are slopes - a bit uneven but it's only a short distance. Once inside gate the main street is good - wide, level and even. Side streets mainly cobbled and/or steep, We really enjoyed a couple of hours here. Very helpful taxi drivers.

ATHENS Did the Panoramic excursion which goes to the Plaka. Not ideal - it was ok for a short time. Some parts are even but the kerbs are deep and there is a lack of ramps. Some areas are steep and very uneven.

ITEA Staff helped us to easily transfer to shore by tender. Not much here but it is level and fairly even along the seafront and main street. However some kerbs are deep and there are not many ramps.

KATAKALON Quite a busy shopping street with items on the pavement outside the shops. However the owners are helpful and we did not have any problems. The lanes at the back and the area leading towards the beach are more uneven but we found we were able to explore most of this little town. There is a wide level area along the harbour side with access to the bars and cafes.

CORFU TOWN Taxi from port. A bit uneven in places and one uphill section but on the whole good access. Some side streets are cobbled but the main area is ok. Liston area and park across the road are very well paved. We really enjoyed it here as we were able to get around fairly easily. Again taxi drivers were very helpful.

To put it into context for you, we found all these places, apart from Athens, easier to negotiate than KOTOR. Loved it there but it was a bit bumpy!

(Avoid Mykonos I've been without the wheelchair. It's lovely, but totally unsuitable!)

    Hope this helps.

  3. Thanks for helpful information elmsliebev, I had thought it would be Kuna on the bus, but read something about getting tickets at a kiosk and wondered if I could use a credit card there. A taxi will probably be best, as I'll need to fold and stow the wheelchair, but I do like to check all the options.

  4. I'm hoping to have time for a quick look around Dubrovnik before we sail on Thomson Spirit. I realise I can get the public bus, or there may be a shuttle from the ship to Pile Gate. Will I be able to pay the fare in Euros or using a debit or credit card? (I'm reluctant to take Kuna as all other ports are Euro.)
