  1. My fiance and I leave tomorrow out of Seattle on an Alaska cruise. I upgraded us from Concierge to Aqua class as a surprise for her. What can we do to maximize the value of this upgrade? I know that Blu vs MDR is a great part of it, but what other benefits can we really make use of? We're looking to spend plenty of time on board just relaxing and making the most of the ship's amenities so any special Aqua class only amenity recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

  2. Great pics and vids! I have to ask, how did you 'capture' the Google images and the ship inline there? That's great to be able to see the ship's location for each of the videos.

Good job on keeping everyone updated. if only I had half your video and google maps skills I'd be happy to post updates when I get around to a Med/Venice cruise on Solstice

  3. I'm booked on the Solstice for July in an Aqua Class cabin. I'm currently in a 'normal' cabin on the starboard side about mid-rearship (1634). I noticed today that 1547 and 15547 are both available. Do both of these have the larger balcony? Are they worth it for the slightly longer walk to the rear of the ship and it's restaurants and martini bar?

  4. My husband and I will be traveling on the Celebrity Millenium on June 24th on the Southbound Alaska Cruise.

I was wondering if anyone has participated in the Riedel's Wine Glass Comparative Workshop before and thinks its worth the $89 dollars?

I would most likely be doing this workshop alone due to my husband being more of a beer man, however that does not bother me.

Also I have read reviews in the past that before they would seve you wine in the appopriate glass if you participated in the workshop...do any of you know if this is still in practice?

    Thanks!

I found the workshop worthwhile primarily for the glasses that are included with it. The workshop was interesting in tasting different wines in the variety of glasses they offer. I didn't have any luck in my MDR seatings offering the Riedel glasses to go with my wine selections, but I did enjoy the workshop and the fact that I got some nice Riedel glasses out of it. I'd recommend the workshop for any wine enthusiast that hasn't taken it before. But, if you've done it once, I don't see a big reason to do it again unless you're looking for the wine glasses that come out of it.

  5. A butler is much more than a glorified steward, they are there to take care of YOU, while the steward is there to take care of the cabin. This is actually one of the perks that keeps us coming back to Celebrity! I must warn you though, once you have cruised with a butler it can be difficult to adjust to not having one on your next cruise!!

Think of things (within reason) that would add to your cruising experience that you enjoy and simply ask your butler. Perhaps you would like a bridge tour or galley tour- just ask and they will do all they can to make it happen. Perhaps you would like a particular snack or drink every day delivered to the room, simply ask and it is done! For example, every night before dinner I would have our butler bring us 2 orders of escargot and fresh baked bread to our suite to enjoy with some wine while getting ready. Every morning he would set our table and bring us a full breakfast in our suite with anything we wanted (egg white omlette and diet coke was my fix). He also would ask each morning if we needed any of our clothes pressed that we planned on wearing each evening and would have them back in the closet by the afternoon. If you want or need to book spa or shore excursions, they can handle all this for you rather than you having to go to the desk and wait in line. Well, I think you get the point... In a word they are WONDERFUL:)

OK, I'm glad I've never had a butler. I'm not sure I could every go back to a 'normal' stateroom after that experience.

  6. Yes. You can purchase anytime up to the last 2 days of the cruise, and you will only be charged the remaining days.

Be careful with this. On my July Solstice cruise I'm pretty sure it was more than 2 days before the end of the cruise that the daily noted it was the last day to purchase the package. I want to say it was the Tuesday daily noting that was the last day even though we weren't due back to FLL until Sunday morning.

  7. Kay...now I am terrified.

I hadn't thought about the getting into Ft Lauderdale the day before. The four of us are flying in the day of departure.

Changing the flights would cost an extra $469 per person. SO the question is....what the heck do I do?

At that big of a price difference I think you just leave things as they are and keep your fingers crossed that everything work outs. Did you purchase any traval insurance?
