  1. We sailed Allure a few weeks ago & YES our cabin was warm the whole time! D7 oceanview balcony on the 9th deck, midship, starboard side. And our balcony was closed the whole time. We're booked on Oasis next Sept & we're hoping it's a lot cooler next time! We're booked in a Grand Suite next year.

  2. We are departing for the first time on Allure in 6 weeks & would like to know where the Diamond Lounge is located during Happy Hour & if light appetizers are still offered there? I know we have the 3 drinks nightly added on our seapass but we do enjoy the nightly gatherings in the Diamond Lounge.

    TIA

  3. LOL - sorry to be so crass.

This is a VERY important cruise for us. Back in 2007, I had an AMAZING B2B booked and mostly planned. Then my husband was diagnosed with cancer. We cancelled that cruise and went about chemo/radiation. DH got well and we went on with life. We've been on many cruises since then but the B2B remained on our list. The time never seem to mesh with our schedules.

Well I just got off the phone and booked a B2B for next summer - 2017. That year will mark 10 yrs cancer-free and for his type of cancer, he is considered cured (Hodgkin Lymphoma). So, not only is it a dream cruise, I consider it a gigantic FU to cancer (which l like to FU any chance I get).

I snagged a wonderful family ocean view where one of the bedrooms has a door (we adore DH but he snores like there is no tomorrow and the girls and I have trouble sleeping w/o earplugs). So we can kiss him goodnight and soundproof his slumber, LOL. He's a good sport and our 5 yr old promised him he could sleep with one of the towel animals.

Okay, enough rambling. I'm just so darned excited.

AS YOU SHOULD BE!!!!!!! WONDERFUL NEWS!!!!!!!! CONGRATS to you both & YES FU CANCER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D:D

  4. Great that you can just drive to the port. Not sure if the drop off by taxi is the same as for parking but I didn't notice any bad traffic. We had to stop at the security but other than that, we pretty much just drove in. This was early on a Sunday morning, around 10:20ish.

That is about the time we wanted to arrive so thank you!!! That helped!! :)

  5. Day 1 - Boarding Day

We got up nice and early and went to the buffet breakfast that was included in our hotel (practicing already in trying to beat the crowds). I had asked around on this site when people head to the port and so from the answers, I knew that a taxi at 10:15am would be good timing. After all, we wanted to maximize our time on the ship. As we drove up to the ship (which by the way is sooo exciting seeing the ship live for the first time), I felt bad for the people getting off as their cruise was over.

As we got to the port someone took our luggage (which made us nervous since for all we knew, this person could have been off the street). So DH followed the guy and we waited until we saw that our luggage was going with the others. Guess we were a bit paranoid but it's always a fear of luggage getting lost or stolen for a trip.

The embarkment process was pretty smooth. There were no lines for check in so it was quite quick. Also, right from the beginning we noticed how friendly and happy the workers are. Great service. They led us to a table to get wrist bands for our kids. The bands had the location of our muster spot in case they ever get lost. So smart. They then directed us to our section in the Gold area.

Next we just waited. At about 11:45am they started moving our line to start boarding. So exciting! This was the last time I had internet for the week and funny enough when I went to turn off my phone, I saw a periscope entry of "boarding now" from a fellow passenger.

This is what we saw when we boarded. All I can say is, Royal certainly has the WOW factor (the picture doesn't quite capture it with all the people, but trust me, it's WOW). Such beautiful ships.

We're going on Allure for the first time in Sept & we're fortunate enough to live in Florida & we're driving to the port. I know you said that you went in a taxi from the hotel but did you happen to notice if the traffic going in was exceptionally bad? We're trying to find out if getting there by car & parking at that time of morning will be terrible traffic?

  6. We're sailing on Allure in Sept & I just checked my Cruise Planner & we can get the basic package for just one device for a total price of $63.00 for the entire week so we'd like to know if this is a good price and if it's worth it? We're traveling by ourselves so there's no need for 2 devices & we won't be streaming anything & if I remember correctly last year on Freedom the price for an entire week was very expensive & not worth the price. We ended up using part of our shipboard credit for last day or so of our cruise & it was so slow it wasn't worth it. We are Diamond status so we don't know if it'll be cheaper on board or should we get the 30% discount now? Seems like a much better deal to me to purchase now if it's worth it? Thoughts?

  7. As I stated when I started this thread, this is the first time we've done MTD & I was able to pick the time we wanted yesterday BUT it never asked me how big of a table we wanted. Just the times and this time it's just DH & I going & would prefer to have a cozy table for 2. Suggestions??

  8. Just logged into My Cruise Planner on Royal's website & it let me choose the entire week & lots of time choices so it looks like I've got the MDR booked for the week at the times I wanted. I've logged out & back in & they're still there so it looks like I'm booked for the time I want. Tried to do the shows too but it's telling me that's not available at this time so I'll just keep checking. Thank you all for the advice! :D:D

  9. Perfect choice. The convenience of walking off the ship directly to your car is a BIG plus. No need to fight crowds or race thru breakfast. Much more relaxing than waiting in line for a cab or shuttle. Have a fun time!!!

Thank you!! We thought so too! This is our first time out of Ft Lauderdale, we are very fortunate to live in Florida & only about 1.5 hours from Port Canaveral so we've always gone out of there but we decided to be adventurous & go on Allure this year.
