  1. I did the same thing. I called and they said as long as I have our documentation, it won't be a problem.

I just can't wait to get on Oasis tomorrow. My best friend was supposed to come, but she panicked and cancelled Sunday. She tried to reinstate it, but they said no.

Good to hear! I hope everything goes smoothly for you and you enjoy your time on Oasis. We still have a flight to get through in the morning so keep your fingers crossed for us!

  2. As long as you have the proper identification you should be fine. They have the ship's manifest to check. I'm sure they are expecting issues just like yours with this sailing.

Thanks for the reassurance! I have our reservation number at least. Now let's hope I remember our room number for the porters...

  3. We're hoping to be on the shortened Allure cruise tomorrow. I didn't print our boarding documents prior to the original departure date because I wasn't sure if we'd be able to make it. And now that the original sail date has passed I can't access the reservation in My Cruises on the site! Will this cause me problems at check in tomorrow? We did check in online we just won't have the cruise documents in hand.

  4. Thanks so much for all the opinions and input! I took the advice of several here and asked my folks--they're pretty excited about the idea of a suite! We've camped and traveled together plenty of times, so we're used to each other's sleep patterns, etc. And they'll be heading down to Florida ahead of me to enjoy the first week of retirement alone together sans kids. They might actually miss me by the time I get there ;)

Thanks again! I'm pretty much decided on the suite and SUPER excited! The only problem--this is my dad's first cruise. He'll never want to go back to a balcony now! :D

  5. I'm thinking of taking my parents on a cruise for my dad's retirement. Playing around with dummy bookings, it looks like I could book a grand suite for all three of us or two balcony cabins for a very similar price.

I've never sailed in a suite before but I like the idea of having a bath tub (my mom loves to take a bath to relax). We'll be stopping in Labadee and the idea of the suite beach is appealing as well. Has anyone ever done three adults in a suite? Would the space be sufficient for three adults? Would the suite perks make up for having a bit less privacy? Any insight is appreciated!

  6. We are staying at the Country Inn next Wednesday before our Explorer cruise on Thursday 12/13. Can anyone advise the best way to get from the hotel to the pier the morning of the cruise? I see that this hotel charges $35 pp for a shuttle to the pier. Are there car services that might be cheaper? Or could we arrange for a taxi? There will be two of us with two suitcases. Thanks!

  7. How did you book Country Inns and what are you paying for it? Is it cancellable? What time are you arriving at EWR? Where are you flying in from? You should be able to leave your luggage at the hotel even if you can't check in.

I'd contact CI directly to see if you can buy their shuttle transfer at $35/pp rt. you should be able to make a 12:30 flight easily on your return.

If you get in very early, have you considered going into NYC for the day?

Thank you for the information and ideas.

We actually haven't booked anything yet, except for the cruise. We had originally intended to make a road trip out of it, coming in from Detroit. But we've given up that idea in favor of flying:)

We're definitely open to other ideas for hotels or things to do. I would like to take the earliest flight from Detroit to allow for any delays or weather. That flight would get us to EWR at 9 am.

  8. We are cruising on the Explorer out of Cape Liberty on Dec. 13th. My tentative plan is to arrive at EWR the day before and use the hotel shuttle to get to Country Inn then arrange for transportation to the pier the following morning.

    Questions:

What is the best shuttle or car service to get from Country Inn to the port? There will be two of us with 3 bags.

The flight I would like to take gets to EWR very early. Any ideas of what we can do with luggage until check-in? We were thinking we might like to check out the mall until our room is ready.

If our return flight is scheduled around 12:30 will that give us enough time to get from the port to the airport?

    Thanks!
