  1. Going into Petersburg, AK, the ship went up this very narrow waterway, more like a narrow river between the islands, where it is deep enough only at high tide. Due to it being so narrow and shallow, the propellers literally suck the water away from the shore. Wonderful sight seeing too, since there are a lot of eagles and opreys in the trees. You can also watch them fishing, and if you are lucky, one may use the updraft from the ship, and soar 10' above your head.

  2. Just wanted to say that when we were just at Grand Turk, we ended up booking the Gibbs Cay and stingray tour through Carnival. It was Oasis Divers that was the tour operator and they were GREAT!! Our tour had about 30 people total on it. The tour guides were excellent! I was hestiant to book this originally, but would book again in a heartbeat!

details please. We are looking at this one for our trip this coming July. DW however, is a bit hesitant about it. The description makes it sound pretty laid back, with casual snorkeling from the beach, away from the stingrays, possible. Are they enclosed, or free swimming? Can you still snorkel where the rays are not?

  3. The ship offers a light tackle, Bonefishing excursion, but I'd rather not spend $207. Is it legal to bring one's own equipment and fish off the shore? Is it worth the effort? Does it require a license/permit, and if so where does one get it and for how much? Or am I better off just sticking to snorkeling?

  4. I have read that there is reasonably good fishing at Half Moon Cay, both from the shore and apparently bonefishing in the lagoon. The fishing excursion listed is for Deep Sea Fishing, which is not what I want to do. I much prefer light tackle and fly fishing in shallow water. I am wondering if 1) one is allowed to fish from the beach/shore, 2) if it is worth the effort to bring my own equipment, and 3) if a license/permit is required, and if so, where does one get that and how much?.
