Correct but when you factor in that Allstate lately hasn't had the ecards (or now any cards) you have to spend 1.75 per 100 dollar card or 5 dollars for a 500 card for shipping you can make up the approximately 12 dollars for a year of AARP really fast now. And the last cards Allstate had were now only 8 percent off for Carnival. I pay for entire cruises with gift cards so I bought the membership for 5 years for 64 dollars and then BofA had a deal for 8 dollars back so it was 56 dollars. Plus AARP has a lot of other restaurant gift cards etc to offer.

Yeah I think im going to get the membership.  Only 12 bucks for the year.  Here's my question, do you still need "points" to redeem?  Or can you buy them without them?

It is hard to harbor a guess at this point because Their rewards program appears to be rudderless at this time. Many have jumped ship for AARP which has none of these problems with stocking Carnival cards.

Problem is, you need to be a paying member to get giftcards with aarp.

Weird.  I called 3 times last week. One about this issue and all 3 times I talked to very nice ladies all from the south.  As I could tell by the accent and I always ask.    Maybe try another call.    My 5% I got back to my CC was only 28.00 as my entire cruise cost me 840.00 for a week.
not sure what your cost was but still may be worth another call.

If i dont see any refund, ill call back in a few days.

I had emailed the Voyager's Club last week about the Status Match page.  For me, it would just redirect to the home page for Voyager's Club.  They sent me this link - https://www.msccruisesusa.com/manage-booking/msc-voyagers-club/status-match.

This page finally worked but then I was getting the same zip code/post code issue others have mentioned above.  I tried completing the form on Edge, Chrome, Firefox and Safari.  No luck.  So, I emailed them again and received this response within a few minutes:

Thank you for your email regarding the status match sign-up, we are experiencing technical difficulties with the webpage you are trying to access. We are aware of the issue and know our team is working diligently to have it up and running again. We apologize for the inconvenience and hope to have a solution shortly.
Please  retry  again  on the website  after   9/7/2022   we can only accept status match submissions via the website.

Fingers crossed the zip code button will work later this week!

That link takes me right to the same voyagers club site like all the others.

  5. I am having issues trying to apply.  I can't change the country from canada to USA and when I entercmy zip, it completely locks out and won't do anything.  Have to say, their website is total crap.   Ive tried it on my phone, laptop, chrome, edge....does the same thing. Does anyone know any other way to submit my status match? This is so frustrating.

  6. Greeeeaattt...I booked my first MSC cruise going to the Bahamas over Halloween.   Ive been on 23 cruises with Carnival, NCL, and RC.  Never needed a passport on any of them and never even thought to check. Im trying to check in and have no option other than passport/ppcard.  I cant seem to get a straight answer anywhere online searching on google and of course their call center is closed so now i get to worry all freaking night about it...seems pretty ridiculous they wouldn't accept birth certificates and photo ID like most all other US cruise lines.  And considering it would take 6-8 weeks to get a passport if i applied now, i probably wouldn't get it in time.   My only saving grace is i have flexible changes with MSC so i could at least get a credit for a future cruise.

Calling tomorrow to get a straight answer.

  7. Hey there, I'm going to try not to make this sound like a rant, I'm genuinely  interested and concerned.

So I been on I think 5 cruises this year...  I'm not a high roller gambler in the casino, I tend to maybe spend 100 in the course of an entire cruise, but I'd always regularly get casino offers/rates regardless...

So the first few cruises at the beginning of this year and end of last year, I'd email the casino and they would offer me drinks on us...

I recently turned platinum  about 3 cruises a go, and I've noticed I don't get casino offers anymore,  and the casino basically  tells me I don't qualify for any comps....this past cruise I even accumulated a few hundred points.  Way more than a typically accumulate, and I still basically get told sorry you don't qualify.   This never happened to me before....

I'm just curious if this is a thing.  Do platinum guests not get as good deals or is it just a coincidence?  Maybe carnival is tightening  up their purse strings due to low stock price?

Yes it was. Our unused amount on the S&S account came up to $78.31, and we got one in the mail for the same amount about 2-3 weeks later. That was back in early Aug. 2019. We are taking it with us on our Vista cruise a week from today. Nice thing about Carnival gift cards, they never expire.

    ok, great.  Thank you!

  9. Hey everyone, been a while since I posted here!  So I just got back from the first sailing on the Magic a few days a go.  Had a wonderful time, and so glad to be back to cruising!  Anyway, I had some OBC but also added 2 giftcards to my sail & sign.  When I added them, I asked what would happen to the unused giftcard balances if I dont use them.  She told me to keep the giftcards as the unused balance would be put back on the cards. Well I looked and both of them still show a zero balance.  I looked on Carnival's website and it says that the unused portion will actually be issued on a new gift card?  Does anyone have any experience with this?  Will I get a new giftcard in the mail?  TIA

from what i read on a different site that had an article about this, they will still be a buffet but it will no longer be self served. they will now be crew members to give you the food.

Ugh.  I hope maybe its short term.   Seems like this is only going to cause lines to be longer and slower.  I can see doing this as a temporary precaution when they start back up, but I don't like the idea at all.

I don't thinks so.  Your vote, however carries the weight of your number of shares.  IIRC we get a proxy notice late May / Early June.

ah, cool.  Im a novice at this all, just started investing last month.

Carnival will adapt on future cruises. What do you think will change? I think buffets will no longer exist. Maybe cafeteria where servers pick it out. Beveragrs will no longer be self served. Maybe 2 turn downs a day to make sure rooms are clean and occupants not sick.

Buffet will be gone????  What??? thats like the major thing people look forward to on a cruise. lol

The OBC offer is voted on at the Shareholder meeting each July.  I am not sure if it runs for a calendar year or a fiscal year, but they can't post the OBC for cruises after the current authorization runs out.

Interesting.  Do you have to have a certain amount of shares in order to vote?

I'm wondering if, since so many people were able to get their 100 shares cheaply recently, they'll eventually increase the amount of shares you need to have to qualify. I doubt they'll do it soon, because anyone wanting to buy their shares right now is a big plus for them while the cost of OBC won't hit them until after cruises resume. But eventually.

It looks like this shareholder benefit is valid through bookings made by February of 2021.  I am not sure reneging on their shareholder OBC mid-offer would be a good move right now considering how low and volitile their stocks are.  Could anger a lot of people who may choose to sell those shares.  By next year, their stock value will (hopefully) have improved significantly.

  15. I ended up calling the phone number listen on the shareholder OBC.  Spoke to a nice lady, she looked up and said that the fax I sent in last week wasn't in their system, so I resent the fax today.  I called back, and she was able to locate the new fax, she applied the OBC to both my bookings and sent me confirmation emails.  Was easy peasy.

Takes about three to four weeks.  You do not have to have cruise paid off.  We got confirmation on 5 of 8 cruises that we have booked and advised to resend in info for cruises after July 2021 with ownership proof that is current at that time.

Great, thank you.  Did you have to send in booking numbers individually?  I sent a fax in last week for 2 bookings.
