  1. We are thinking about going on Rhapsody of the Seas November 23rd on a itinerary out of Tampa.  Two in our party have never been on a ship this size.  They have sailed on Adventure of the Seas or a bigger ship (Allure)  on an Eastern Cruise or Southern Cruise.  They tend to get very mild motion sickness in that they may not feel good one evening and need to take it easy and possibly take some medication.  Does Rhapsody of the seas have more motion due to its smaller size?  Would sailing in the Gulf of Mexico tend to make a difference?  (Smoother)

    Thanks so much,

  2. We buy insurance for total cost of cruise including flights. So glad we did this past January. Southwest will not put you on another carrier and they could not get us to San Juan before our ship left the next evening.(The horrific Jan. Ft Lauderdale shooting, we were stuck in Atlanta unable to get to our Ft Lauderdale connecting flight due to airport being closed) We offered to drive to other cities southwest flew to San Juan from but no availability. We had to purchase tickets 2 hours before the flight left on delta. The total cost was $5200(one way) for our kids and their significant others that we were paying for. Southwest reimbursed us the oneway amount $1800, but it wasn't near the price we had to fork over for our last minute delta flight. Our travel insurance covered the difference. Yay

  3. We have been out of town on Christmas and did a little bit of both. Brought a few little gifts and then came home to gifts under the tree (thanks to a relative). I have also been that secret Santa to a neighbor. Another friend loaded up her husband and kids in the car and said oops I forgot something and ran inside where she got everything ready under the tree for their return.

Have a blast and go for it. Your 5 year old can even write the note to Santa telling where you will be

  4. When our youngest was 4&5 (first two cruises) we would do early seating. The staff would have his food ready when we arrived. (Chicken nuggets) He would eat it, then they brought him ice ream and I would walk him up to ocean adventures club. He really did not like sitting for long and was eager to go play. I would come back and finish our meal with husband and two older boys.

    Worked out well for all

  5. I read this about Adventure of the Seas. I just googled AOS restaurants and this was at the. Bottom of the list. Does Adventure now have a Park Cafe? I totally missed it when we were on Allure last year. Heard about how good it was after the trip.

    See below...

    Park Cafe

    Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

The Solarium is due to receive the popular Park Cafe currently found on the likes of Splendour of the Seas, Oasis and Allure of the Seas, during its refit scheduled for April 2014. The complimentary Park Cafe will open for light and healthy fare throughout the day from Breakfast options through to late night snacks and drinks.

    Thanks Tons

  6. How many cabins are you getting? When we have run into this we just book my husband in one room and me in another. Then when we get on board we go to guest relations and have them fix the room keys so my kids and their keys are associated with their cabin and my husband and mine are associated with ours. Some have also gotten extra keys to be able to open their kids cabins. Many people did this during our Spring break on Allure in 2015.

Oops just saw you wanted 3 cabins. Sorry

  7. I would go on one that offers some baby sitting service for the one year old. Just from reading here it sounds like some people thought they had the service on the ship but not all of them do. The wording is very confusing, Check and double check that. This way the older two can have some time with you or they can go in adventure ocean and you can have some time with your wife.

    Happy planning

  8. Last time we went to st Lucia we didn't do anything because we thought everything was too far. Granted this was 14 years ago, and we didn't do enough planning. But we are going back in January and are looking for a pretty beach close to the ship terminal. We are willing to walk or take a taxi we just are looking for nice and kind of close beaches.

  9. Need help deciding between the two ships. Our background is we are a family of six and we began cruising in 2002. (Husband and 3 sons and now a daughter in law). Has anyone cruised both ships recently?? The sail dates are January 2017. We have been to all of the ports at least once. I'm worried about the negative comments about both ships.

    Thank you Tons

  10. We are also looking at a January Cruise. The Liberty has great prices for a Western but my husband is concerned about weather. We have been on a cruise in early January from Port Canaveral and froze there and in Coco-cay. Then on the last Sea day back. Then we went on Indi mid January and had very warm weather in Ft. Lauderdale out and all of the sea days and ports. Flying into San Juan is very expensive for our family of 6 so we are trying to avoid that. We also can only take a 7-8 day cruise due to school and jobs. Has anyone done a western in mid January? If so how was your weather?

  11. Yay,

It sounds like you had a great cruise. What time were you able to board last Sunday? do you know if they offered wine packages? Some on this board have said that a few ships have brought them back. You said you were on time for your ports. We have a taxi picking us up at the pier at 11:15 in St. Thomas. We have a group of 33, and someone on cruise crited suggested with a large to pre arrange taxi service. Do you think that time would work? Were you there at 10:00? and how was it getting off the ship at any of the ports? We have not sailed on an oasis class ship yet so not familiar with how it is with this large of a group getting off.

    Thanks so much,

  12. Hi,

We are going on the Allure in a couple weeks. It will be an Eastern itinerary just like last weeks.

    My questions are:

    1. What time were you able to board?

    2. Who is the cruise director and how was she/he?

    3. What time did you leave Nassau? And what time did you arrive in St. Thousand? What time were you able to get off of the ship in St. Thomas. I have read that it is arriving late there. We have made arrangements with a taxi service to pick us (group of 30) up at 11:15.

    4. Any other advice you can pass on would be so appreciated

    Thanks so much!!

    Linda

  13. Suehal,

How late were you getting into St. Thomas? We will be on Allure and going into St. Thomas on the 18th of this month. We have a large group(33) going to red hook and was advised to pre arrange taxi service. The taxi is picking us up at 11:15. Will that be a problem? We are supposed to be there at 10. How hard is it getting off The Allure at ports, especially St. Thomas. This is the only port we have a pre arranged activity.

    Thanks

    Linda
