  1. Just off the QV having not been on since 2018, far too long.

Overall I don’t feel much has changed, there’s definitely a more casual feel of an evening but I can’t say it bothered me too much. Service seems a little lower in the Lido, took a little longer to clear plates and I’m still yet to find the allusive kids afternoon tea.

The musicians on board were, as usual, excellent. We particularly enjoyed the Irish duo.

I agree with the previous poster, I feel the Roaring 20s has turned into a fancy dress evening with too many plastic hats and inflatable guns!

Despite having requested early sitting, we were given Anytime Dining. I appreciate we could have asked to change but we thought we’d give it a try. It is lovely not being tied to a set time and we never waited for a table but overall I felt it affected the service and lost the occasion of dinner for us. I like seeing everyone file in at the same time and the waiters having more of a sense of order.

Cherbourg and Bilbao were excellent ports and the weather and seas were very kind.

Overall pleased to see little has changed!

  2. I'm not an expert but I believe if you are paying for the transfer you can book online but if it is a transfer included within your Cunard fare then you will need to book over the phone. Best of luck with that, I've been trying for three weeks to get through on the phone with no luck. We have given up and gone with other arrangements. There's a post about Cruise Connect/Intercruises over on the P&O thread. They are experiencing difficulties at the moment.

  3. I’ve spoken to Cunard and they say that the problem is staffing issues at Intercruise. Their only advice was to keep trying the number and fill out the online contact form. I said I would give it another week of trying but then swap to car parking instead.

I can’t believe that they are that busy so I think it’s more than staffing issues

We have also used them on numerous occasions without any issues but have always been able to communicate by phone.  This is an entirely new problem.  Even the cruise company will not give me a straight answer as to what may be going on.

when is your cruise? We’re not travelling until August so I’m not too worried but I would like to get the bus sorted

I have done that too but have to say I am not hopeful. The incessant music while waiting for a human to pick up my call has given me a headache!!
Please update if you have any success 😊

I’ve heard nothing yet. I’ll wait until after the bank holiday and try again. If not I’ll ring Cunard and see what they say.

I too am having great difficulty getting in contact with this company.  I am unable to book online due to a disability request that requires a telephone booking. This is not the kind of customer service that Princess, P & O and Cunard should be supporting.

I’ve been trying all day to phone using the two phone numbers. I’ve filled out the online form and left my phone number so hopefully they will ring back.

  7. My husband and I enjoy sitting in the library at the window seats, very quiet.

Or else you'll find us doing the jigsaws just outside of the library.

We've done the theatre box on a couple of occasions. The glass is OK during the shows but if you sit there and a speaker is using a powerpoint then the reflections can get a bit annoying.

  8. Hello,

Does anyone know the brand of travel sickness tablets that Cunard sell at the pursers desk? When I traveled across the pacific a few years ago I was very ill and these tablets worked wonders. Since then I've been over to Norway OK but looking out of the window at the wind I'm a bit worried about my trip next week. I'm going to buy something before I go in preparation.

    thanks

    Claire

  9. Hello,

After a couple of years without a cruise I've booked a surprise mini-cruise for my husband's birthday. Hurrah.

I realise it won't be quite the same as our previous full cruises but I'm really looking forward to it and I can't wait to see my husband's face.

I've googled lots of reviews but I can't find out if the daily programme will be similar to the full cruises. Will there still be guest speakers on a short cruise? It's the Guernsey 3 night trip at the end of the month. There is nothing listed on the insights document on Cunard's website.

    thanks.

  10. I've just spotted your thread, congratulations on your upcoming honeymoon.

My husband and I honeymooned on the QV this time 7 years ago when we were around the same age as you and we had a fabulous time. We joined the cruise group on here and went along to the meet up and the lovely people had brought along a wedding card and some magnets for our cabin. I will never forget how lovely that was - particularly as I was suffering awful sea sickness at that point (I got better).

You will have a fantastic time on board, the age gap never bothered us at all and we found the entertainment crew and musicians seemed delighted to see us.

We are no dancers but thoroughly enjoyed sitting in the Queens room watching everyone else. We kept our own bopping to the G32 area.

I'd second the recommendation for the Verandah and the specialty restaurants in the Lido, we loved these. We had a good few breakfasts and lunches in the Britannia so it was nice to eat elsewhere for a change.

Once our children are a bit older the first thing on our list is a crossing. Have a wondeful time.

  11. Hi we were onboard the QE in May with our then 18 month old. The kids club was vey quiet both day and night. We were able to go in with our son and stay with him during the day while he played. We did that most days for about an hour.

After 6pm there was a little room just off the kids room with a couple of travel cots in. Our son was the only baby to use the room all week. Officially they are supposed to settle and sleep in there (which our son did) but I got the impression providing there were no tears they would have happily let him watch the films the other kids were watching. We got a pager every evening but never needed it.
