  1. We are on the 2/16/24 sailing and ours changed from Grand Turk to San Juan and from St. Thomas to Tortola. Time changed in a few of them also. I'm very disappointed because Grand Turk is actually one of my favorite and relaxing stops! I would also love to know the reason behind all the changes. Although I'm looking forward to Tortola because it is one of the only stops we haven't done down there.

  2. Thank you! Toes in the sand, that makes more sense than how I explained it. I'll google all of those places now. It'll likely come down to whichever one is closest to the dock. Thanks again!

  3. Hello! We are cruising to Aruba next month and we are also celebrating our anniversary. I'm looking for a nice dinner ON the beach, where the table is on the sand. Does anyone know of any places that do this on Aruba? Since we are there until 9pm, I thought that would be the best day for it.

    Thank you in advance!

  4. Hi we are leaving May 2018 for our very first cruise!

We have a 3 and 5 year old and wondering what excursions would be suitable for us. We definitely want to attend a Luau (sp?), surfing, volcanic black sand beach.

    Recommendations???

Out of curiosity, which cruise are you on?

  5. Thank you for all the replies. We have rented a house on the beach in North Shore Oahu Monday-Saturday prior to the cruise, we have a total of 3-4 cars we have rented for that time. We also decided on a limo service to bring us to and from the airport at home in a big shuttle bus.

    Only sixtysomething days to go!

  6. Hello everyone! We have just booked the POA for May of 2018. We will be travelling with 13-15 people ages 2(our son)-69(my mom). Now that we have the cruise booked, I want to decide on whether to fly in on Friday, cruise Sat-Sat, then stay on the island until the following Wed to explore further....OR fly in the Tues or Wed prior to the cruise, then fly home the day the cruise docks. So, with that being said, does anyone have any suggestions on whether we should rent a car right at the airport to drive to the hotel? Or should we look for a shuttle service to the hotel THEN rent a car once we are settled? I assume they offer car seats at the rental agencies? I am hoping to NOT have to carry a big car seat around Hawaii for ten days! Thank you in advance....as this will be the first of MANY questions I imagine!

  7. greatlakesgirl...thank you! Our family(ies) I should say have decided to take the plunge and are going on this trip in May 2018. We have age ranges from 2(my son)-69(my mom) and everything in between. We have roughly 13-15 people going. I loved your reviews and saved some of your ideas! I have a question though, I can't see any of your photos. I signed into my photobucket account and that didn't work either. Any chance you could send me the link to your photo album? My electronic mailing address is my username at the original america online dot com. Does that make sense?

  8. Sorry for your loss.

Thanks though for clarifying your return was land based. When this old salt hears "tug" returning to "port" blue waves immediately form in mind:D

On your new iPhone, Upgrade or pay additional for a tracking app or one of those disable phones, need security code to log on apps like "Start" where you have to punch in your pin every time you pick up the phone.

a bit of a pain sometimes, but it'll keep your phone from being used immediately by unwanted persons.

Thanks! My new iPhone came with this nifty feature that you need my fingerprint to get in it! I'll keep that on at all times. :)

  9. The 'tug', as it's called, is not a boat. It is used to pull aircraft on land, or sometimes, to pull trolley cars. We were not in a boat. I had to sit on my husband's lap because there was no passenger seats to speak of.

I did try and contact the port, they haven't responded. The cruise line said no one has found it, as far as they know.

AT&T was nice enough to move my upgrade up a couple months and I now have a new phone.

I now realize someone has probably already unlocked the phone and is using. I thought it was worth a shot to ask around on here, if anyone was going to port.

    Thanks anyway.

  10. It would probably help if you was to list where you were at when you left something behind since there's tons of places for people to go when in port and not all will be headed to the exact place.

Another thought would be to find a cruise going there and look up the roll call and ask someone on it if they are going to the place you went to in Costa Maya. :)

Thanks for the suggestion! We had to be transported back to the ship by port authority, on a tug. My husband says it's what they use to pull airplanes on the ground. I think it looked like an industrial golf cart. Anyway, I had to sit on my husband's lap and my iPhone fell out while we were on the way. The ship called the port to see if they found anything, but so far, no one did.

  11. Is anyone going to be in Costa Maya in the near future? We had a bit of a mishap when we were there on Friday 2/13/15 and unfortunately, one of our items got left behind. If anyone is going there, I'd like to see if it's still there. I'm having difficulty finding contact information for the port itself. Thanks in advance!

  12. We are boarding from Barbados :) after spending 3 days there, we cannot wait.

Thank you so much for your reply.

When we dock in Barbados, people will be getting on and off? How does this work? Will the rest of us be held up in the morning for debarkation?

  13. I am planning on decorating doors for the first time next month!!

    I need some ideas!

One door is ours, my boyfriend's 40th birthday, so I made a sign so far with his baby picture and a recent picture.

Two other doors are for my parents' anniversary and my aunt/uncle's anniversary...any wording ideas for the anniversary signs?? Something cute or funny. I have pics from their wedding and a more recent pic.

We have streamers, a couple sparkly stars, and a couple of those drop down swirly things with a star at the end(make sense?) lol. I'm looking for some different ideas.

    Thanks for starting this thread!

  14. Yes looks just like a disco ball. If you look at the bar menu Sargent_Shultz posted above it has a pic of the disco ball in the middle right side.

:D:eek::D:eek::D I wish there was a smiley for jumping up and down, that's what I'm doing, the holy-****-balls they have a disco ball cup dance!!! Thank you, this was the boost I needed. 4 weeks away and for some reason I couldn't get too excited.

  15. Obviously I'm not the OP but I would strongly recommend diving at Creole Rock just off Grand Case in St Martin and spending a beach day at either Coki or Sapphire, depending on your tastes (Coki = livelier vibe while Sapphire = more laid back vibe).

Many of the stores in Charlotte Amalie are also at Havensight, the only thing you really miss by not going downtown is the great historic architecture. Just depends on how much shopping you want to do. I would suggest going to the beach first then to Paradise Point (to enjoy the view and a Bailey's Bushwacker or Red Stripe) then walking back through the Havensight stores from the PP tram to your ship.

$18pp roundtrip taxi to Coki or Sapphire is ~1/2 hr each way depending on whether you drop people off at Coki first which is the norm. A little longer getting back due to congestive traffic around Havensight. The taxi route makes it ideal for you to hit Coki early then taxi to Sapphire if Coki gets busy because Coki is a more beautiful beach.

[EDIT] If your other stops are Barbados, St Lucia, & St Kitts take a look at the Malibu Rum distillery option on the beach for Barbados, beautiful place to spend some beach time; Island/sea tour on St Lucia, gorgeous island, and the cat from St Kitt's to Pinney's Beach on Nevis.

    Have a great cruise!

Thanks so much!! Malibu Rum distillery??? I'm very interested in this!

  16. To the original poster...

    I have a question..

we can't decide where my boyfriend should scuba dive on our upcoming trip, I was first thinking St. Thomas but now I'm thinking St. Martin may be better and we can spend the day at Sapphire.

If we want to check out the shops closer to port also(since we missed them last time), should we plan to do that in the afternoon?

How long of a cab ride is it from the Havensight pier to Sapphire?

    Thanks!

  17. Just back on the Victory a week ago. We were able to take wine in the carryon, "mouthwash and baby shampoo" (my husbands creations LOL) and rum runners. No problem. Just want to split them up a bit. My biggest problem...... No diet mountain dew in the islands. CVS didnt carry it either. I did find it the last day in St Marten. By this time I was willing to pay $5 for a can:eek:!! I bought 2 for $3 and got my fix!!

Mouthwash and baby shampoo....is this how you concealed liquor?

  18. Alyssa........the Radisson is in Condado and Carnival's pier is in Old San Juan.

About a 20 minute taxi ride costing about $20. Condado is very safe with lots of shops, Walgreen's, restaurants, Starbucks, etc. There is also a public bus that goes into Old San Juan. The Radisson is near but not on the beach. It does have a lovely rooftop pool. Looks like you are there on a Saturday. About 5 minute walk to the right is the Marriott Stellaris........another 15 minutes in the same direction is La Concha Hotel. Both will be a hub of nightlife on the weekends.......La Concha is very chic. If you have never been to Old San Juan you could probably drop your bags off at the pier on Sunday and walk around OSJ for a while......enjoy your cruise.

Thanks so much! I feel much better now. One more thing...What is an ok time to fly out on Sunday? I mean I've read some stories that it takes forever to get through the airport, should we plan on an afternoon flight? or can we do late morning? I'm curious because most of the flights after 11am are 220 and beyond..wont we be bored to tears waiting around an airport that long??

  19. Looks like you now have to book a cruise.

In my opinion you got a really good price. Hotels in San Juan are typically quite pricey. If my memory is correct I believe I have read that there are some restaurants and a CVS or Walgreens close by.

    What dates?

Cruise leaves May 20, so we will stay one night on May 19th and then explore and relax while we are there..

  20. Holy crap it went through! I was playing around and really didn't think it would work, but I chose zone 8, $75 bid for a 3.5 star in San Juan and .....

It said "it's in the bag!"

lol I can't stop laughing because I really didn't think it was going to go through already, I wasn't totally prepared, but it's done.

    Radisson Ambassador

    three rooms

$260.70 total for all three rooms...is this a good price?

What is near the hotel? Can I walk to anything interesting? How far from the Carnival pier?

Sorry for all the questions, but I haven't even booked the flights or cruise yet!
