  1. We had a cruise cancelled I the past. Part of the payment was made with a Visa Gift card. They "refunded" the $500 to the Visa Gift card, which had been destroyed, since there were several months between payment and cancellation. Carnival could do nothing to help. The bank that issued the Visa Card was not helpful. It took several months to get the money. And it was looking like we were not going to get it until someone in the Customer Service department took it upon themselves to find it. Not a good situation. Hope you don't have that problem.

  2. I have recently booked a couple of cruises, and am so glad I read this thread. During one of the bookings, my PVP asked if I wanted the final payment to just go through on the payment date. I told her yes. So I suppose I should double check that, huh? Thanks for the heads up!

  3. We were on the Super Bowl cruise also. The ship was delayed leaving for several hours so people could be parked....That doesn't happen often! But the garage is full with the Dream and soon the Triumph, the Carnival garage will be at capacity.

But I do like to arrive after 1:00..The crowds are gone and you just breeze through.

  4. Thank you for sharing this scary/wonderful story. I hope your hubby continues to improve. And thank you most of all for the reminder (Guilty) that travel insurance...Its just a 4 day cruise...What could happen????

We just bought travel insurance for an upcoming 5 day cruise. Cost of insurance... $50. Your story reminds us all that it should be part of the cost of every cruise you ever take!

  5. No one uses the garage except Carnival cruisers, and it is closed except when one of the ships is coming or going, so fairly secure. I think $16 per day. And the garage is connected to the terminal, so you can't get any closer!

  6. One of the best reviews I have ever read! Thank you. We love the Elation and NOLA, but your are dead right about the party ship and crowd! I'm allergic to airplanes, so any ship that goes out of NOLA is going to be my first choice.

We have been on the Triumph. Give her a try. Larger than the Elation. We loved her.

Going on the Dream in May. I'll let you know how we like the "big" ships!

  7. As long as the Carnival Price is considerably cheaper, as it always has been for the cruises I have taken, I will continue to sail Carnival. If a cruise is the same price as another line, I will look at the other line, because there is probably more "value" there. I sail Carnival because we enjoy our cruises and the prices are always the best. I would not pay more for a Carnival Cruise than any other line, though.

  8. The price of the room includes cruise week parking. I don't think they offer this package during festival times etc. But if available, it is a great way to spend a night or two in NOLA, leave your car in one place, then come back to it. We are cruising on the Dream May 3, and can't find a hotel with this option. I forget which festival it is, but rooms are at a premium that week.

  9. We sailed on Sunshine from New Orleans a year ago. We don't do a lot of "clubbing", but do like to sit and listen to music. We found the performers that were in the Ocean Plaza on our cruise to be be quite good, and found ourselves stopping to listen a lot. Also, the performers in the Red Frog Pub were good. We spent more time listening to "non-show" music on that cruise than any other. The main showroom also turns into a "nightclub" after the last show some nights and was fun.

  10. We loved the Sunshine. Never had problems with crowds except the Comedy Club. That is consistent with all ships. They have their most popular show in their smallest venue.

No problems with leaks or smells. She is not a cookie cutter ship like all the rest. She has some different layouts. I think they make her unique. Enjoy your cruise. As long as the engines are running, its gonna be a great week! Have fun!

  11. Depends on the ship- $3.50 to $5.00 per load. Some ships use quarters, some S&S. I like to pack light and do a load of laundry if I run short of clothes. There is an ironing board and iron in every laundry room that is free. But usually a lot of people trying to use it on formal night!

  12. I have been zapped with an unwelcome cellphone bill upon arriving home before, so I don't take any chances. I buy the internet package to check my emails, and if I need to call home, I use the ships phone. $1.99 per minute, and anyone you call knows you are on a timer. It is just easier for me and I know I haven't forgoteen to turn something off that will cost money!
