Kobe is 15 miles from Osaka, 25 min by train.  Will Millennium dock Kobe at noon and move to Osaka at 5am?  In Kobe, most shops and public transportation shut down at midnight. Travel from Osaka cruise terminal to Nara  by public transportation is very easy. walk 10 min to Osakako station, metro to Ikoma station, transfer Kintetsu-Nara Line to Kintetsu-Nara Station in 60 min.

Docking at Kobe 12pm  then Osaka 5am to 6pm (2 days) so Kobe day I was thinking of doing Kobe. Sake etc Osaka is already Osaka one day Kyoto one day.

  2. Since our ship the Celebrity Millennium will also spend 2 days in Osaka one of which will be spent seeing Kyoto, we were thinking of doing the sake areas on our own in Kobe. Is this feasible the ship leaves at 5 am the next morning for the short trip to Osaka. Are we wasting our time not trying to get to Nara or whatever?

  3. It was well worth the price. Be careful when you’re booking a Travelzoo deal that your agent knows and guarantees the perks included. We missed lots perks as neither Holland or your guide had our vouchers despite several hours of calls to all parties before during and after our trip. A land sea was a great option but with any tour it’s bags out by 6 on the bus by 7:30 the price you pay to see so much in 11 days. My favorite the seaplane pricy at $320 p/p but up close to polar bears and salmon bake includes with air tour. Don’t forget bug spray , mosquitoes at some spots

Where was this seaplane/ polar bears trip from? Who was the vendor if not HA?

  4. Thank you for the suggestions. I think we will go with this company and tour. Skagway shore tours wildlife safari and bear viewing. If the weather is good we have a decent chance of seeing some bears. If not this will be day 3 of 14 and maybe we will splurge on a flight or something.

  5. We will be on the Nieuw Amsterdam for a 3 day cruise and then 11 day land tour. I have looked at several tours that take the fast ferry to Haines and then do some nature watching. Our first interest would be bears and salmon. We will be there on August 22nd so that seems to be a good time. This will be a free day in Skagway as well so we will go to sleep there the night before and night after and have all day so no worries about catching a ship. I thought about putting something together myself as we will be staying a 5 minute walk from the fast ferry in Skagway but I think a tour might be better. Any help would be greatly appreciated if anyone has done something like this.
