  1. Are the WOW Bands available on all ships? I will be on Adventure in April. We will be in an Owners Suite. I have never heard of WOW banks before. Just curious to find out more info.

I believe that WOW bands are only available on the Quantum and Anthem. The Harmony seems to be the only Oasis class ship that has them at this time.

  2. Fyi, I first experienced the WOW bands on the Quantum where they were given complimentary and disposed of them after our cruise. I (wrongly) assumed they would be free on the Harmony so I repurchased them. Old wow bands can be activated again on future cruises.

That being said, I LOVED using these bands to use opening my cabin especially when carrying a cup of coffee or had my hands full otherwise.

It was strange not having the sea passes given at embarkation. The employees said that it created delays in the check in process. Not sure if that's the real reason. What I didn't like is that everyones sea pass is in an envelope OUTSIDE of their cabin. Not that this happens, but anyone can conceivably open anyone else's cabin should they get there first.

  5. Thanks...great to get a report right from the ship! Can you tell us about suits vs just jackets for men?

We were on the 1/3 sailing.

Any sports jacket will work! I was with my husband and two sons, ages 18 & 21. None brought jackets on the cruise. They were all given jackets, no problem, even though they looked like a sad British rock band! A woman can get away being casual to very dressy...almost anything goes as long as you wear a nice top.

  6. MADflyer,

It might not be a real Swiss Bircher Müsli. But I thought it was much better than on the Oasis TA (east). The one in the Solarium was way too sweet for me. The one in the MDR was less sweet (but still too sweet for me). The one on the Quantum was o.k. regarding the sweetness.

I´m preparing my own Müsli daily using 5 grain flakes mixed with milk and skim yoguhrt (plus raisins), 6 grain full grain (grated and soaked with water overnight). In the morning I add whole nuts and dates (grate it) and then a banana and an apple (grate it). Then I add the flake/yoghurt/milk mix. No sugar added (just the dates and raisins) and no heavy cream added.

I would love to come to your home for breakfast!!

I agree the ships muesli is usually too sweet and I usually have to add lots of skim milk to make it less so. I would love to have a real Bircher muesli but beggers can't be choosers! I hear that HAL has it on their ships but can't go on a ship just for their muesli...haha!!

  7. MADflyer,

we did have a good Bircher Müsli on the Southampton pre inaugural. It was at the first row near the bakery. There were two bowls each and I think they had two different kinds.

Thank you again, Steamboats AND Madflyer on this info!! Your pic is lovely!

  8. Oyster sauce is not veggie as it´s made out of oysters... There is a veggie oyster sauce made out of mushrooms. Anyway neither the waiter nor the maitre ´d where able to confirm that this dish is really veggie. They weren´t able to come up with anything else although it´s indicated on the bottom of the menu that you should ask your waiter.

We talked to Andy (VP F&B) and he promised to work on that. I also miss the signage they used to have on the "old" (new) menus introduced last year. No signs for veggie, lactose free, gluten free or Vitality anymore. That is a step backwards...

Thanks Cruiser4me for starting this thread and steamboats for talking to Andy!

I'll be on a January cruise and was wondering about this!

I sometimes have found better veggie food in the WJ than the restaurants! Usually, the ships have good Indian options which I love but not hearing much about it so far. Luckily, breakfast is my favorite meal of the day and hoping they are offering muesli which I love and have found in the recent past!!

  9. The shuttles are not a big deal for getting on the ship the problem is getting off when carrying your own luggage. Everyone has to drag their own luggage up on the shuttles which slows down the loading process. The backup on the ship is caused by the shuttle loading process. On one of our cruises they were only loading one shuttle at a time under the tent and it was really backed up inside the ship.

Now on the plus side once you get off the shuttle it goes fast. I have never had more than 2 people in front of me at customs.

    Hi,

    I concur with fred30!

This was a real pain on our last holiday cruise. The shuttle to the ship was painless. However, on the return having to wait in the freezing cold for the shuttle and putting our heavy luggage on was a pain. It's an awful system but it still wouldn't stop me from taking a cruise!

  11. Don't let it get you down! Epic is a great ship!

    Hi SD Mike!

I have wanted to thank you sooo many times for your info!

We are finally going to try out the Epic on 1/26 and are in 11075 which seems like a good room. I had to change my room around 4 times after reading your posts as this is the quirkiest ship I've been on between aft vibrations and hulls, uncovered balconies!

So, thanks again! You are the best!!!

  13. Thanks also for this thread! I've been a vegetarian for a very long time and will be taking our 14th cruise on the Oasis in August. I have to say that NCL has had some of the best vegetarian food especially their Indian food. However, even on RCLL, I honestly never felt the need to even mention it as there are still so many non meat options. I will say that breakfast is my most favorite meal of the day and love it when there is muesli available which I am addicted to if prepared properly!! I also can't wait to try the Solarium on the Oasis as I've heard good reports.
