Does anyone know if Barrachina is open? I have been calling for days but the phone is never answered and no machine ever picks up to take a message. Thanks

I'm sailing at the end of May out of NOLA and purchased FTTF and am having the same exact question. How did it end up going for you?
I had intended to do what I usually do in Florida and get to the docks about 10 AM. We got hung up at our hotel for a while and didn’t actually leave for the port until after 10. We got to the port at about 10;40 and got checked in pretty quickly and started moving through the building to the waiting area. As we arrived on the upper floor they were announcing that FTTP was boarding. We literally walked around the perimeter of the room and got in the line and right on the ship. I didn’t check the time right then but I am pretty sure it was before 11 o’clock. I heard other folks saying later that this had been an early embarkation for them though, that normally they don’t start boarding until noon. I guess it depends on when they dock and how fast the other folks get off the ship. I hope this helps.

I didn’t have fttf. I showed up on time. They change the procedure every time I go. In August they were letting on time people in an entrance with no line...and holding early people in a very long line at another entrance. In December everyone was going in the same entrance but the line moved fast and we got right on the ship.
Thanks. I've always just gotten right on with fttf and I think I'm just going to go with that and show up early---otherwise what's the point of having it?

I had 11:30-12:00 on my two in the fall.
Did they hold you to that or did you show up early? Did you have fttf?

Has anyone sailed Carnival out of NOLA lately and, if so, has there been any change to the time boarding starts? I booked on the 3/31 sailing about 3 months ago and the earliest arrival time they offered was 12:30-1:00. I got FTTF but they still keep sending me things saying to be sure I stick to my scheduled time. I've never had this happen before after buying FTTF. I usually show up at 10:00 with FTTF and either get right on or wait in a designated area for a short time. Just wondering if anyone had recent experience with this. Thanks.

Hey all. Has anybody used Subway Water Sports for snorkeling recently? I found some reviews here but nothing after last December.

There were 300 slots sold for FTTF on our cruise on Triumph 2 weeks ago.
How do you tell how many slots are open or sold for that matter? I couldn't find anywhere that was listed. Thanks.

It looks like Carnival might have reached the tipping point with the $90 FTTF price. It had been sold out on the Glory for our May sailing but it opened up again last week and is still open. $90 is a lot of money for what you get so I'm thinking they might have pushed it a little too far. I won't do it again at that price. The last time we did it (in Oct last year it had gone up to $70 and had to think hard about that before doing it. Ah well, such is the corporate mentality. It was good while it lasted.

From what I understand the only way to access the reef from LFK is via boat. It is on the windward side of the island, this means not the calm quiet of West Bay snorkeling but fighting waves.
Maya Key offers independent snorkeling on the leeward side of their small island or Cocoview is a bit protected from the open water, one would need to pay a day pass at Fantasy Island then swim the channel to Cocoview's Front Yard.
It may be possible to contact one of the restaurant/ accommodation in Sandy Bay, they may offer a lunch/adult beverage along with allowing you to use their pier to access the reef. I know people have down so while staying in West Bay.
.
Thanks. Do you know if the snorkeling on Maya is decent?

Hey all. My wife and I love to snorkel and have been doing it quite a while. The last time we were in Roatan we went to West Bay and had a good time although it was quite crowded. This time we are on Carnival and are not thinking we want to do the long ride back to WB. LFK looks nice but I can't find any posts from advanced snorkelers about the shore snorkeling from there. We don't like doing guided tours. Any info would be appreciated.

My only concern is that many folks have said they (Carnival) don't actually give all the money to the employees. I'm guessing there is no way to confirm this for sure. I have seen posts or articles supposedly written by past employees that say they never saw any of the tips. If you ask the folks working while you are on the cruise the majority will tell you they don't get them either. Could they just be hoping you'll give them more to make up for it, sure. It's a hard call. I don't mind tipping and I would love it if the folks behind the scenes are getting something out of this but I sure don't want the cruise line taking any of it.

It would seem so. They are parallel with hall and there is a lot of space behind them which could be anything from crews quarters to machinery so I was hoping someone would have been in them. They are L type insides. Many say those are some of the larger insides. -
Hi all,
Has anyone stayed in any of these cabins on the Eurodam? #'s 4165-69-70-75. They don't show up (that I can find) on any of the travel booking sites but on the HAL site they are offered at a significant discount for a 2 week Caribbean sailing. I was wondering what might be wrong with them. Thanks.

Lars,
I have a debit card that doesn't charge any fees for foreign atm use but what are the fees charged there for using the machines. If you know, that is. Thanks. -- Scott

Lars, my wife says her Grandmother was from a small community in the mountains near farsund.
Also I wanted to tell you that we live in Connecticut which is between NYC and Boston. (I assume that would be for your New England cruise in Oct of next year). If I can be of any help to you for that please let me know. -- Scott

Lars, I knew asking you would uncover something more for us. Thanks. We'll be doing the 650 loop but will take a side trip to Matbuda! I know it means 2 ferry rides but it's the sort of thing we love doing. My wife's family (fathers side) is from Norway. Her Grandmother took her back when she was in high school. I think they were from Oslo but not sure. Thanks again. - Scott

Lars, Hello again. We will rent a car in Alesund and do the loop you recommend here but we are doing it in the reverse. My question; is there any benefit (scenery or point of interest wise) to go back through Stranda and Sykkylven rather than continuing on 650? Thanks in advance. -- Scott

Lars, Thanks. I figured it was a long shot. I have asked the question to the general 'Baltic' board and have no responses. I did speak with the owner of Seilper and he was very accommodating. My worry is that there seems to be no one else who has used him. I have to get at least 4 other people from my ship to join us to get the trip and I am a little wary of suggesting that we all book with an unknown provider. Thank you again for your help.

Trying to find reviews or personal experiences using a company called Seilper from Molde, Norway. They do sailing trips combined with biking or kayaking. The owner seems nice but I have googled every combination of the name and reviews, critiques etc and can find nothing. The company isn't even mentioned on TA. This all makes me pause in booking anything with them. Any help would be appreciated. -- Scott

Hi again Lars, Just wondering if you have ever heard of or had any dealings with a company called Seilper. They are based in Vestnes and run sailing/biking, kayaking tours from Molde. I spoke to the owner and he was very nice but I can't find any reviews or critiques of the company or people's experiences with them. I was given a company called "viisit Molde" as a good resource for them but have once again heard nothing after numerous attempts at email and calling. The phone calls are answered in Norwegian and english giving their hours and then hanging up!? This is supposed to be a tourist agency and it doesn't make sense that they can't be contacted. I have never had such a frustrating time planning a cruise. Some people, like yourself, are most helpful but I would say about 50% of the contacts I have tried to make never even get back to me.
Anyway, if you know anything about Seilper or maybe someone else who has used them I'd be grateful. :D Thanks again. -- Scott

Thank you sir, you are most generous with your time. As it would happen, I got an email from them this morning which had a new number on it. The new number worked fine. Unfortunately the cruise lines buy most of their inventory so he couldn't accommodate us. If we want it we have to go through Celebrity at an almost 65% increase. Ah well. Such is life. It does sound like something we want so will book it. Thanks again for your effort. -- Scott

Lars, I don't know if you can help with this but I thought I'd ask. I have been trying to book a tour with Geiranger Adventure called 'sky to Fjord'. Its a van/bike tour. They had not responded to my emails (over several weeks) or the forms I filled out on their web site so I have been trying to call them but the phone declares "your call cannot be completed at this time. Try again later" It has been this way for almost 10 days. I wondered if it was something about calling from the USA but everyplace I can find any mention of this company (including reviews and such on Trip Advisor, etc) gives the same number. It's frustrating to say the least. Anything you can suggest? Thanks. -- Scott

Hi this is a wonderful resource, thank you. I have read through a lot of it but haven't seen anything about the location of car rental agencies in Molde. If it is there and I have missed it I'm sorry to be asking again. Most of the agencies I have come up with are at the airport. Is that a long way from the port? Are there others closer to the docks? Thanks for any info you have. -- Scott
Is Barrachina open?

Thanks. Do you think they're closed for the holidays or is it usual that no one answers?
