  1. We were very pleased with RomeHabiCabs on our recent transfer from the port to the airport.  The price was nice for 4 people.

    The manager was very responsive to all of my emails and another driver noticed the printed receipt that I was holding as we disembarked earlier than expected and he texted the dispatch and got someone there quickly.

    This is not a tour.  Very little conversation with the driver but he was friendly and courteous.

  2. We were on her in June.  Our 2 Concierge Veranda rooms on Deck 9 did not appear to have received the updates.  The sofa was the only thing that really needed it though.

    If it is of concern to you, please check with Oceania or your agent and they can let you know for sure.

We were just on her from Barcelona to Rome at the end of June.  We heard that concierge cabins had received new carpets and linens, but we saw no changes in the 2 staterooms that we occupied.  The love seat was the only thing that saw that looked tired.  Everything else was clean.  I would not hesitate to book again.

  6. Where is your preferred meeting place on Riviera for people joining you for a private tour?

    Is there a difference when you are in a tender port?

     

    This is my first time to organize private tours for our trip in June and want it to be as smooth as possible for us all.

    Thank you for posting the links.  We will take a tour (they pick us up from the airport and hit the high spots of Barcelona) before going to the ship and we will email the company and ask them if they can include one of these shops on our itinerary!

    I have used www.tripinsurancestore.com Very helpful and knowledge folks.

     

    We had a great experience with Trip Insurance Store. Tons of educational info on their website and quick response to specific questions related to the definition of pre-existing conditions of a relative.

    It took me a few days to understand the differences in the coverage and to choose the package with the best fit. I liked that I could compare multiple packages from multiple companies at the same time.

  9. We were there for my birthday, September 30, last year and it was cool and drizzly, but it didn't take away from the thrill of waking up and being right in the city. You are so close that you can run back to the ship to dry off a bit and then take off again.

  10. How much do you tip for excursions, assuming that you enjoyed it and the guide did a good job?

    Do you tip differently if you are part of a large group, small group or on a private tour?

    I tried searching all of Cruise Critic and got differing answers, so I thought I would ask the Oceania pros.

  11. A few observations and suggestions. I'm currently on Marina and a number of factors contribute to how good WiFi connecitons are,

     

    1) Location of cabin. On the walls of the hallway are white boxes, these are WiFi APs (Access Points). The closer your cabin door is to one of these the better your reception.

     

    2) Your cabin is a steel box. WiFi will be worst in your cabin. My current cabin is against one of the bulkhead walls and far away from the other AP, hence when my door is closed my connection is extremely weak and unreasonably slow. I prop my door open and my speed is quite acceptable (fast by cruise ship standards). I believe OS, VS, and OCs have APs in their cabins. I didn't have issues last cruise in a OC, but normally book PH's and this time 10028 which having a bulkhead between 10028 and 10026, it blocks the signal from the AP near 10024/26, and the AP near 10032 is much further away and has to penetrate walls of 2 bathrooms. 10028 is now I my never book this cabin again list.

     

    3) When you use WiFi. Afternoons on sea days are the worst because everybody on the ship is online, in the case of Marina probably 500+ people competing for that bandwidth. 5:00 PM to 6:30 PM on non-sea days, prior to everyone going to dinner. I find the best time to make calls is 7:00 PM, 30 minutes prior to my dinner reservations, and a good portion of the ship is at dinner and not online. FWIW, I use FaceTime or Skype for those friends who don't speak iOS. Best times to call are early mornings, during dinner, or very late at night; all of which also depends on where in the world you are traveling and what time it is for those to whom you are calling.
