  1. Princess used to publish a book listing all of its ships and their itineraries.  I think it was a victim of Covid-19, but I have not seen one since.  Does anyone know if it still exists, and if not is there a place where that information is available, laid out the that conveniently, readable form that they used to have.

Just got off the Sky Princess today, the 14 days from Southampton to Fort Lauderdale. The beds were horrible, we complained and they first flipped over a mattress not made for flipping... then brought another bed- it was terrible too. Then a third that was marginally better. Out steward started that "they are all bad". Terrible sleep over those two weeks, I would strongly recommend that you cancel any trip on the Sky until the beds are updated.

(Princess have us a night in the Crown Grill and a day in the Enclave for our trouble... not much help for sure.)

How does a three year old ship have destroyed beds?

    Same cruise.  Bed great.

Just wanted to make several comments about the newer production shows.  We were recently on the Discovery and really enjoyed Rock Opera.  The costumes, dancing, singing and choreography were amazing.  We also were in attendance at the first production of Spotlight Bar; we were disappointed after seeing Rock Opera.  The best dancing in Spotlight Bar were the male dancers doing tap dancing on the tables.  Story line in Spotlight Bar was a little hard to follow.

One man's opinion re: Story line in Spotlight Bar was a little hard to follow.   The music drowned out the lyrics of the songs (perhaps the singers' voices were not strong enough for the performance), so one was not able to comprehend the story.  The songs where I already knew the lyrics worked OK.  Maybe it's just that an old man's ears just aren't what they used to be.

  4. Probably discussed to death, but I couldn’t find it.

I approached the Crown Grill on embarkation day to make a reservation.  I was told that the restaurant was booked up for the entire cruise. After more than 35 cruises, I’d never encountered this situation.  Since I was doing a B2B, I asked about the next cruise.  (On previous B2B cruises I had been told that reservations for the next cruise could not be made until that cruise began, but I tried anyway.)  And I was told that I could indeed reserve for the next cruise.  However, it was sold out also.

However this situation is new since “Dine My Way” allows for reservations to be made prior to boarding.  So I get home and look at “Dine My Way” and I see that reservations can indeed be made prior to boarding.  However, it seems to require payment at the time the reservations is made.  As a long-time cruiser with OBC’s, I don’t want to charge the reservation to my credit card.

So, can I make the reservation, pay with my card, cancel and rebook with OBC once on board?

I can’t be the first to encounter the situation.  What are others doing?

  5. Checking out possible bookings for Jan and Feb 2022 on Majestic.  Maybe it's just me, but I can't find that there are any balcony rooms available for selection.  Everything is designated as guarantee.  Perhaps they are trying to control the locations of passengers (maybe they're making it more efficient for the room stewards by keeping the booked rooms together).  i checked a couple of  other ships, and didn't see the same situation.  Anybody else see the same?

  6. Perhaps it's been stated before. Live from the Grand Princess no American sport coverage. 24/7 Sports Channel shows Australian Rules football, soccer, European basketball.

    No NFL.

I know nothing about other ships or other cruises.

    I'm totally lost with this....

Is it just a hypothetical question or are you really positive and on a freakin mission to travel hundreds of miles and expose everyone else with Covid?

Where would you get such an idea???  If you don't understand the relevance of the questions(s), then just don't respond.  What would you or anyone else consider if you got a notification in transit?  Who or what is available for assistance in such a situation.

We visited your community when my SIL was looking at houses.  Very nice!  And I sure hope your question was hypothetical!

So far it is.  Thanks for your answer.  It seems one has to kiss a lot of frogs to get a serious cogent answer.  Obviously no one is trying to board the ship with a positive test result.

There isn't.  But I managed to save boarding passes for our Alaska cruise this year before they removed them from the Personalizer.  This lists the emergency numbers:

Thanks Birdmom.  I'm at Robson Ranch outside Casa Grande.

I doubt anyone wants you to show up positive to the cruise port.

The hotel has no way to know your status unless you tell them.

And no one want you to show up at the hotel either.  Especially when they give you the form to fill out concerning you previous exposure.

  11. This has got to have been answered many times on these boards, but I can’t find it.

I receive a positive COVID  test result on my travel from home to the cruise departure port.  I have reserved a hotel room for the night before the cruise.  Will the hotel let me check in?  How do I inform Princess of my positive test (especially if it’s on Sunday)?  Can I even arrange transportation to the cruise port (ship)  where I can show my positive result and get Princess to quarantine me?  And is it even outrageous to consider making that trip to the ship?

If I remember correctly Princess had an emergency phone number on the old boarding passes?  Is there such a number in the Medallion App?

  12. Does anyone have direct knowledge as to which COVID tests are not acceptable?

    My Walgreen’s  offers 3 tests:

Rapid Diagnostic Test (ID NOW), Dignostic Lab Test (PCR), and Rapid Antigen Test (BinaxNow)

Their map shows the closest facility for Rapid Antigen is in Washington State, the PCR about an 80 mile trip, and the Rapid Diagnostic is right down the street.

  13. First, let me say that I love Princess, am a Platinum member with over 12 cruises with different ships, and would definitely choose Princess again.... BUT... an issue... I was on Coral Princess for the September 16 to 23 Alaska cruise with my mother. Check in, boarding, all was wonderful... when our luggage came to the cabin, BOTH our cases were damaged. The handle on my Heys luggage was completely broken, and although the designer luggage tag and bandana I have used for FIVE years on this piece of luggage were missing, the paper Princess tag was sitting on the desk in our cabin. How is it that the cheap paper tag made it through the breakage, but the other items did not? Also, my mother's case had the zippers broken. Both of us have used these cases for YEARS with no issue. I decided not to make a case of it as there are far more important things in life. Same with Mom. However, today I was chatting with a friend of mine who did Caribbean Princess in August, and vowed she would never do it again. I was shocked, Caribbean Princess being one of my favourite cruises. She said BOTH she and her husband had their luggage damaged. What the heck??? Is this a trend?? I would like to know if any of you out there have experienced the same thing, so that I can write to Princess. I love the cruise line, and if their baggage handlers are making a statement, I would like to let Princess know that it is damaging their reputation along with our luggage!!!

An experience - not exactly like yours. On a HAL sailing out of Seattle, one of our suitcases was delivered with 2 of the 4 sets of wheels missing. I gave the case to the room steward and he took it for repair. The ship was unable to repair it. The case was not returned, but taken to Passenger Services. They told me to purchase a new one, and they would reimburse me. Luckily one of our stops was in Juneau, so we took the free shuttle to Walmart. I purchased a case there (approx. $90 - the ship gave me an upper price limit, but I don't remember what it was), and they reimbursed me with cash when I returned to the ship.

I no longer have a matched set, but the WalMart case is still holding up well.

  14. We booked our flight to Copenhagen with Princess EZ-air. Just the other day I was checking our reservations with Delta and there was a "note" saying that because of airline scheduling changes our flight from JFK to Copenhagen would be leaving before we arrive from Phoenix...call and make appropriate change. Long story short, everything has been resolved by rebooking through Princess EZ-air. Now we have two stops/plane changes instead of one. We also saved additional plane fare. SO, be aware that flights can be changed without prior warning. I'm so obsessive/ compulsive I check our reservation info frequently.

So much seems to change from one booking to another. I always get a flag on the cruise personalizer whenever Delta changes a flight time. And on top of that, I am unable to access the flight information. I have to call Princess and they call EZ Air and access is restored. Since prices change frequently, I check almost daily. Then I get an email from my TA.

  15. We have booked our Sept. flight to Heathrow through EZAir. For the Dallas to Boston, and at cruise end, Ft. Lauderdale to Dallas, legs, we are on American, and I was able to request seat selections. For the Boston to Heathrow, we fly British Airways. They won't let me request seat selections until we are paid in full and ticketed, which happens often. Our final payment balance is due June 27, and I'll make that payment a few days prior. Will we shortly thereafter be ticketed? Or is there a delay in Princess getting the payment to BA? Thanks for any info. :)

I am astounded by the different responses you received. I have always gotten my seat assignment right after I booked; no matter how far out my flight was. That's what happened on my non stop round trip flight to Heathrow for my trip last May.

Yesterday I booked a flight via British Air/American Airlines (the first leg by American to Dallas) and I selected seating for both airlines on the EZ Air site. My flight is to Paris from Denver is scheduled next August. After I selected the seats, I logged in at American and saw my selections. Then I logged in at British Air and I see the seats I selected for the second leg.

Specifics: On britishairways.com, go to Manage My Booking, enter your airline confirmation provided by Princess for the BA flight (you'll probably have one for each airline) and your last name. Go down the page (below the Passengers tab) and you should see your flight(s) listed. Click on the + sign and scroll down to seating. Under the heading Seating, if you picked your seats on EZ Air, as I did, you'll see "Your allocated seats are: 34D, 34H" (that's what mine shows) and if you haven't, you can pick them here.

It's amazing how experiences differ in the cruising world. There is great information on Cruise Critic, there's a lot of speculation, a lot of things that have changed since the responder had his experience, a lot of misunderstood hearsay, and a lot of stuff that just isn't true.

Good luck - hope your experience is like mine.
