  1. I am not positive but I am fairly sure I saw the table set up offering the wine packages.....maybe right outside the entrance to the Lido pool deck?

did you notice if they are still offering wine packages that first day? We aren't interested in cheers, but usually prepay for 3-4 bottles....
  2. That would be Deck 5 on the Breeze, I think. There are hot tubs and loungers. We only went on the outside of Deck 5 when we were trying the Pig and Anchor so I can't say if it was busy or not! Sorry!

The lanai area is an area on a deck with loungers and hot tub. Not sure what deck it is on. I’ve read it is on some of the Carnival ships, so I’m hoping it is on the Breeze, as another option to find a lounge chair on those crowded, busy sea days.
  3. Hi Jen,

Weather was perfect except for the last night on the way back to Galveston.....was rainy and it got cold! Didn't matter though because it was absolutely beautiful the whole trip up to then. Water temps were perfect for us. There were some people saying it was a little chilly but it was fine. Pool water was perfect too!

Thank you for your review! Reading this made me super excited for our cruise next year. The Breeze has been the ship I’ve wanted to try since her inaugural sailing.

We love going to Paradise beach when in Cozumel. I keep thinking we should try a new place but when something is great, I have a hard time going away from it.

How was the weather during your cruise? Both sea days and port days? Was the water warm at the beaches?

  4. Hey there!

First of all, Happy Anniversary, early!

I think you will love the Breeze! We sure did!

Guys Burger and Blue Iguana are both excellent....We didn't care too much for Pig and Anchor but we are pretty picky when it comes to BBQ!

Unfortunately, we didn't get to use the Serenity area on this trip. It is one of our favorite places to relax but we were sailing with our 3 grandchildren who are 11, 13 and 14 and we wanted to be able to keep an eye on their comings and goings so we hung out near the main pool and the pool at the back of the ship.

I am not sure what you mean by the "Lanai" area of the ship? The only time we noticed smoke is when we accidentally wandered over to the smoking side of the ship on Deck 11.

As to doing anything for your anniversary, they have specialty cakes and things you can order to be delivered to your cabin or dining table. You can also contact John Heald via his FB page and let him know a few days before your cruise and he will send something special to your cabin.

Hope you have a great trip!! We are sailing on the Breeze again in Feb. 2019

I will be sailing the Breeze next March (2019), and it will be our first time back sailing with Carnival since 2007. We’ve been sailing RCCL and NCL. I am very excited to try all the new food venues on Carnival, especially Guys, Pig and Anchor, and Blue Iguana. I like their idea of Serenity area, and hope I don’t have too much trouble finding a lounger in there. How is the Lanai area on the ship for hanging out? Is there much problem with second hand smoke from smokers (had issues with that on my last Getaway cruise)? My cabin is an inside cabin on deck 8 mid ship. Hoping that’s a good, peaceful location. We will be celebrating our 49th Anniversary on the cruise. (We have the Magic booked for our 50th in 2020 also deck 8 inside.) Will they do anything special for our anniversary? Thank you in advance.

  5. Just some thoughts on our trip -

We are platinum cruisers but this was our first time on the Breeze.

LOVE the ship and LOVE the cruise director, Lee!

Honestly, this was the first time that I felt one way or another about a CD...Just never paid that much attention, I guess, but Lee was great!

FOOD- we had early dining; 6 of us; This is one area I noticed a huge improvement. The past few cruises we were disappointed in the slow service and noticeable cut backs in dining room staff. This cruise was completely different. Wonderful wait staff - very attentive and service was quick and well paced. We ate in dinner in the dining room every night but one. Lido Buffet on Cozumel night because we were exhausted.

Guy's Burger for lunch a few times and tried the Italian restaurant one day but did not care for it. Pizza is always a hit!

ROOM - We had 2 balcony rooms- adjoining balconies. Did not see our room steward until the 2nd day and he never asked about the number of times we wanted our room clean....just did it twice a day. Had to call about bringing an ice bucket 3 times before we actually got it but other than that, it was fine.

ENTERTAINMENT - The only show we went to was Flick. It was pretty good but, to be honest, we really don't like shows too much. We enjoyed the piano bar and all of the musicians playing in the atrium, Red Frog, etc were excellent.

CASINO - Lost - lol Had fun but didn't win anything....

    PORTS-

Cozumel- Paradise Beach- Great time, as always.

Belize- King David Tours- Went to the Zoo and the Howler Monkey Sanctuary- King David tours was great but can't recommend the Zoo or Monkey Santuary.

Roatan- Channin Bodden Tours- LOVE him! Been using him for 12 years and Roatan is our favorite port.

Platinum gift was the fleece blanket.

Feel free to ask any questions! I will be happy to answer if I can....

    Happy Cruising!

  6. Anxious to read more about your cruise....husband and I are going on the July 11th trip- This will be our 3rd cruise to Alaska but 1st on Carnival. We have taken many Carnival cruises just not to Alaska. How was the weather? Trying to decide how much "cold" weather stuff to take....I think the Tracy Arm / Endicott small boat excursion may get pretty chilly? Thanks, in advance, for any tips you can give me!

  7. Thanks for the advice- With our original trip, we were going to have 5-6 extra days after the trip to go up to Denali, etc. But our daughter got accepted into a grad school program and orientation is the 21st, so we have to come back on the 20th. That only leaves us 3 days......So, we decided to rent a car in Whittier and drive over to Seward- stay there for a couple of days and drive up to Anchorage to fly home. Car rental will be a little pricey but worth it to be flexible....

My husband and I will plan to come back in 2015- thinking of doing the northern tour to Fairbanks, Prudhoe Bay

  8. We are taking Princess Northbound May 10 cruise - ending in Whittier on May 17.

We have 3 days after the cruise to do on our own touring. Originally, we were booked on a later cruise and would be starting the "on our own" portion at beginning of June so we planned to go up to Denali.

However, from reading the boards, I gather that it will be too early for Denali around the 18th. We will be renting a car so we are flexible on locations and times. Our daughter wants to go to the North Pole but I think our time would be better spent on the Kenai Peninsula area.

Any suggestions on where / how we should spend our time?

My husband and I have been to Alaska before but this will be the first trip for our daughter and her friend. (22 years old)

  9. Crown Princess- Northbound- May 24th ~

This will be the 2nd Alaska cruise for my husband and I but this time we are bringing our 22 year old daughter and one of her friends- will be their 1st trip. We want to explore on our own for a few days after the cruise. We will get into Whittier on Saturday and plan to fly home on Wednesday, possible Thursday. We want to do the 26 Glacier tour when we get off the boat on Saturday and the only other thing we know we want to do is Denali Tundra Wilderness tour. Any suggestions for us would be appreciated!!! Car rental? Restaurants? Hotels? Thanks in advance!
