  1. This beach/pool day seems like something I’d like to do with our family of 12.  Do you book this privately? Could someone share the link?  We are going in December.
    TIA

  2. Do not be fooled. The water can get treacherous quickly.  About 10 years ago, when I was in my late 40’s, I got stuck in the water.  Couldn’t come out, and I had a hard time alerting someone to help me. My husband did not see me, he was watching our kids.  And I was right on the shore, almost out of the water.  It was so rough, I fell, sitting in the sand/rock.  Every time would get up, a violent wave would drag me back.  It is so dangerous.  My bottom was very irritated, I needed to see a doctor when I got home.  I barely weight a 100lbs.  So if you have children, watch them!  But I’m going back soon!  Such an amazing place.

  3. Hello fellow cruisers!

Myself and a group of girlfriends just booked a Disney cruise departing October 28, 2023.  We are very excited about our FIRST cruise on a Disney ship.  We know there is a Pirate night and we plan on going all out with costumes.  We hope there is also an Halloween Night.  Does anyone know?  Is it a separate night from Pirate night?  TIA for any information you can provide.
    Happy Sailings!

  4. St Lucia is a new port for us.  We are a small group of older active adults (5 couples aging from mid 50’s to 70 years old).  Is St Lucia better known for its beaches and lazy days or for an excursion?  I’d love to see your recommendations.

  5. Great review! We were on the Splendor this past November and we just booked it again for October. Yes, you are right, dining time is always something I look forward too. Nothing wrong with Carnival... I have sailed many times on different ships and I couldn't tell you which one is my favorite. It's always a great time! For lunch, my favorite was also Tandoor, delicious!!! My favorite dessert is also Grand Marnier soufflé. Molten chocolate dessert is a close second. Can't wait to go back!! Our dining staff was the best...I'm wondering if there is a way to find out if they will be on the ship in October..and can we request to sit in their section??? I have to look into this.

    Thanks for the review!

  6. I also was on this cruise, 8 family members traveling together. With three first timers in our group, I warned them that usually, out of NYC at this time of the year, we have rough seas. To my surprise, I found this sailing to be quite calm. It was windy but the sea were not rough as I was expecting.

We had a good trip. We ate in the dinning room every night and we had a fabulous team of waiters..very entertaining! We were always the last ones to leave the dining room. We had late seating.

In Florida, we went to Cocoa Beach.

In Nassau, walked around the shops then went to Atlantis to walk around.

In Freeport, we went to the beach at Grand Lucayan resort. $15.

The casino was good to us...we didn't lose any money, everyday play, came out on top.

We won at the first bingo game. Good start to the vacation.

We departed late from Freeport. Watched many official people waiting on the Pier, saw an ambulance then go. Then a white mini van came and a person was taken from the ship on a gurney with luggage and put in back of mini van. I don't know what happened. I thought we were waiting for late passengers.

I have done this itinerary, or the same islands many times. I've done fun excursions in Nassau in the last year. I often stay on board in Florida and I love Grand Lucayan resort in Freeport.

  7. Thank you for your review... I came back today (Splendor) and my review would sound just about the same. I was pleased with our cruise experience. We did stop in Nassau but had heard that it didn't stop the prior week. It was still extremely windy in Nassau. We like Freeport, went back to Grand Lucayan Resort. We had a great time in the dining room (8:15) with our team of servers, we were always the last table to leave. Their names were; Joseph, Alvin and Gerry. It was my brother's first cruise on Carnival (he's done 7 cruises on Norwegian only) and he was pleasantly surprised. As far as the "pink color", I'm not sure I would have noticed that it was everywhere if I had not read it here... And Malcolm was fine... I read negatives comments about him but really I don't see a problem... He did his job! And the "woohoo" was not annoying at all.. It is his signature I guess. I've done 16 cruises so far, on different lines and they are all comparable. I choose a cruise for either convenience of home port or for the islands I want to visit or for price... Never had a bad cruise!!

  8. :) Hello, I'm sure this question has been asked before. We are leaving Saturday for a cruise and stopping in Nassau. For a beach resort experience, which would you recommend? Ease of getting there? Price? Amenities? Anything else? Thank you... I don't have much time to make up my mind and find something that will please most of my family (8 adults).

    Thank you, I appreciate.

In Freeport, I will take them to Grand Lucayan. I was there in the spring and loved it!

  9. Just booked the Westerdam last week for April '09 and we are confirmed for 4 for late seating. I was a little worried thinking we were booking so late and wouldn't be able to get fixed seating. We were actually confirmed for the early but we changed it to late a couple of days ago. I hope that "confirmed" really means CONFIRMED!!! Looking forward to this cruise, never sailed Hal before.
