I love the way you have ranked the beach from 1-10. Thank you for coming back and posting your review and photos. It's very helpful when deciding what to do while in port.
No problem - it's always good to have first-hand info when choosing what to do! As for the ratings - to be honest, is there a "bad" beach? :) Our needs are pretty low - but we really don't like crowds (just enough people to "people-watch"), or a lot of pushy vendors (one time a guy was offended when my husband wouldn't buy his tshirts "What? You don't like my tshirts?" And kept pushing him....I hate that.) I also hate loud music and a bunch of rowdy people swearing, or kids that cry all day. We don't need powder-white sand (usually that means bad snorkeling).
Although, sitting here at my desk - even the beach I just described sounds pretty darn good! :D;)
Enjoy your vacation - I'm off to plan the next one!

Here are some pics from our Jolly Beach/Castaways day.

Just back -
Jolly Beach - yes on the jet skis - lots of fun for $35 for 1/2 hr. They let you take them all around the bay. This bay had great wave action the day we were there, the water was really stirred up from recent storms. I don't think there's snorkeling here even if the conditions are good. We were only bothered by a couple of vendors, they went away after a firm head shake. Make sure you get a GOOD umbrella when they set you up - some of them are kind of falling apart and a good breeze will make them come undone. We ate at Castaways. I had a grilled chicken w/lettuce & tomato. Late that night & the next morning I had a bad stomach and some extended bathroom time.... :D Hubby had curry, son had a hot dog, they were both okay. Rum punch here was just "okay". (I tried a LOT of rum punches on this trip!)
Rating from 1-10....I give Jolly Beach a 7. (we like to snorkel, don't like crowds, scary-looking locals, vendors or rowdy partying, want good bathrooms and beach bar/restaurant.)

Just back from the Vision and the only indoor smoking area was in the Casino or the library (which converted to a cigar room after 9 pm).
Wow, that sounds wonderful! We sail on the Serenade in just a few days, and I'm so afraid that we won't be able to enjoy the music venues because of second-hand smoke issues.... :( We don't gamble, so having smokers in the casino doesn't matter - and the library - no biggie. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that we don't have any balcony-smokers adjacent to us.
-
That's a LOT of Jack....I think you're all "warped".....LOL
-
Three weeks from today the Serenade will be leaving San Juan for another tour of the southern Caribbean..... and we'll be on her! OMG, can't wait! I tried on my dressy dresses today, thinking about what I'm taking and what I'm not...decided to skip the pizza tonight and go with a salad! :D Almost time to start packing suitcases - need to pick up more sunscreen....I better start making a list of what I have left to do!

42 days for us!

To my cruise, and at the ports, I usually bring a small straw-colored, crocheted-type purse. The shoulder strap is long enough to wear across my body, or I can choose to just hang it on my shoulder. Its small enough that it never gets too heavy, but large enough to fit necessities while away from the ship.
I like this color better than white, or multi-colored print because it goes with much more, and can fade easily into the background if I forget to remove it for picture-taking.
On the ship itself, I do not carry a purse. I have made beautiful swarovski-beaded lanyards for my seapass, which are attractive and convenient. If I really need anything else, I figure I can always run back to my cabin.
I have a similar style of bag that I bought at Target last year, I was considering taking that for excursions. And - great idea for the beaded lanyard, I'll have to try my hand at a couple of those - and maybe a sports-theme beaded one for my son? What do other 9yo kids do with their seapasses?

My "over the shoulder boulder holder" is my purse on cruises. ;)
Cruise card, credit card and copy of passport are again under my "cross your heart".
Eeeeewwwww. So you mean you'll pull your credit card out of THERE and hand it to someone? Ick.

What a wonderful thread. To be honest, when I started researching for our upcoming cruise, Barbados wasn't one of the islands I was looking forward to the most. But - WOW! I am in awe of your pictures, and can't wait for our day there. We're beach bums, and are planning to hop in a taxi and head to Rockley/Bar K'Nai for the day. One question - are Accra and Rockley the same beach, or different sections of the same beach? Sometimes I see both names together, other times just one or the other. Wondering what to tell the driver?
Again - love your pictures. You are a true asset to the island. :)

We were really hoping to do this excursion on our 11/7 RCCL cruise, but it appears to be booked already - so disappointed! They should perhaps look into expanding..... :)

In hotels, sometimes that area under the bed is a dirty, nasty "no-man's-land" kind of place that I wouldn't want to put anything - not so on a cruise ship? Do they clean under there regularly, no dust bunnies?
Jolly Beach?
