What I don't understand is, why would she not be allowed to use her phone, or even walk around, while still on the ship? Am I misunderstanding that she was still on the ship? I certainly do understand (and adhere to) their rules of no phones until you are through customs, but I always thought that to be in effect from the time you exit the ship, until you clear customs. Until that time, you have not officially disembarked, and you are still a passenger on the ship...no?

I don't know how I missed your review when you first posted it, but I just stayed up WAY past my bedtime because I couldn't stop reading! You have an amazing writing style, and had me laughing. Not to mention, re-living many of our moments on the Fantasy 2 years ago. I had sailed another cruise line previously (with friends), but the Fantasy was my first Carnival ship, and the first ship my family sailed on together.

We were on Deck 9, one deck below Lido, on the Dream. I don't remember the exact stateroom number right now, but we were a few doors down from the Aft elevators. Up one flight of stairs and we were in the Aft lobby. One direction led to the Aft pool, and the other was straight into the buffet. A quick walk through the buffet area, before reaching the midship pool, was the ice cream. It was a great location to make a quick ice cream run late at night (not that I would know or anything)! :D

We brought 2 12-packs of soda onto the Dream out of Port Canaveral last summer. The cases were intact, inside of a rolling duffle. They did pull us aside and opened each case, checking the cans inside. Being in the duffle, we just zipped it back up when they were done, and continued on our way.

Thank you for your great review! I would be interested in your views on your room location, as we will be in the stateroom next door, in a couple of weeks. Was there noise from the Lido deck? Or from the Promenade with the hot tubs? Thanks! :)
