Hi there
Just of the indy.
The kids had the soda package.
There is no freestyle machine onboard.
They could get:
Coke
Diet coke
Sprite
Fanta
And also they were allowed a virgin shirley temple on there soda cards too.
Just sprite and grenedine.
And a cherry coke aswell.
Beware the kids cup they get leaks, so be sure to keep it upright.
I had no problems with the alcohol package atall.
there was no slip signing and everything i wanted was on the package.
The red wine by the glass at dinner was perfectly fine.
And so was the rose.
I didnt see anyone staggering about and not even any drunken loudness.
Alot of people had the package aswell.
I will say the poolside bar makes the drinks far to strong though.
I much prefer the drinks served in the other bars.
Much more pleasent to drink and enjoyable.
I asked them at the poolside bar to halve the alcohol in my drinks.
As i would like to enjoy a few nice drinks rather than have one and have my head blown off!
I enjoyed a pimms and sprite with lots of fruit in the glass the most.
And after debate i got my fresh mint in it lol.
They rekoned pimms doesnt have mint in at the pool bar .
Between 8 am and 11 am
I mostly started with a pineapple and sprite.
Then i had a shandy.
Between 11 and 6 pm
A cocktail, a pimms ,and a beer.
A coke or 2.
water
A cranberry juice.
Between 6 and 12 midnight.
Two small/med glasses of wine at dinner.
water.
Two rums and coke at the show or casino
A baileys before bed.
This is over the course of about 16 hrs.
I was never even merry.
So the package was definatly worth it for us.
I think people forget the soft drinks they drink that would all cost too.
Especially when its hot.

I am on holiday!!
So i am bringing plenty of everything no washing for me i get enough of that at home:D

Hi there.
My 10 year old daughter is a little non adventurous with food.
Basically she doesn't eat mixed up or wet food such as food with gravies or sauces .
Would it be out of line to ask for a plain chicken breast or a baked potato?
She loves veg but not covered in parsley butter.
I don't really want her eating from the kids menu in the evening.
She will probably eat junk in the day.
Thanks Sam .
Coke products from the fountain machine at the bars, such as Coke, Diet Coke, Sprite, Club Soda. If the ship has a Coke Freestyle machine, then there are over 100 varieties that can be dispensed.
So its coke and sprite then?
The indy doesnt have a machine.
How boring:rolleyes:
No tangos/fanta or anything.
Thanks anyway x -
Never had tapas.
Is that posh bar snacks?
Bit more refined than nuts and crisps then:D
-
Hi,
Does anyone know what drinks exactly the children get on there soda pass? Thanks Sam . -
I would be interested too.
I though it was a wine bar??
-
So it's one drink at a time. I get that. Is there a time limit between one drink to the next? Going on the jewel in July and am torn on whether to get the package or not
Thanks Chris.
Sent using the Cruise Critic forums app
I hope I don't have to make a shot last half an hour :D -
I have been told by rccl that every bar honours the package.
When asked about this scenario in particular.
They said the champagne bar is included in the package. -
Many thanks, will come in handy for us:)
-
Well if the bar was really busy or understaffed, I would probably get bored of waiting after a while and give up on buying a drink.
But if I pre-paid, I would feel obliged to wait!
I get you.:) -
It's listed on the English pub menu that I just posted. (Look under the "Second Cousins" section of the menu.) I had multiple Strongbows - they are included in the package. I was disappointed that this was the only cider and am not sure if the other bars on the ship stocked it at all. But the English Pub had it.
Thank you strongbow is what hubby likes.
I got an e mail from rccl today saying they were available on the package.I tried to look on your menu but couldnt quite make it out.I did see a few things so thanks for posting them:) -
I enjoyed several Vodka and Redbulls on the Freedom a few weeks ago
WITHOUT ISSUE
Would be nice.
I only passing on what rccl told me though.
:o -
I have read some recent reviews of European cruises where people had to wait 15 minutes to be served at the bar (not enough staff).
I was thinking about getting this package but do not want to spend hours waiting for drinks at the bar when I could be enjoying myself with our friends instead. Have others found this takes up a lot of their time?
I think if you have to wait 15 mins because of low staffing.
Then it wouldnt matter if you had the package or not you would still have to wait if you were pay as you go?
I just had a thought about this package.
Hubby drinks cider i see no mention of strongbow or magners anywhere?
I will keep an eye on the cider thread just started but theres no replies as yet.

Yes you can get Red Bull and Vodka. I had many drinks with Red bull. The package is very nice to have. If it is going to stress you out trying to always make your daily amount then I wouldn't recommend it. It sounds like you have cruised before. Just use your consumption on those to gauge it. If you are close then I would go for it because like I said it is very nice to be able to try drinks without feeling obligated to drink it all. I also liked knowing that my bill at the end of the cruise would be much lower then in cruises past. Have a great cruise!!
Chris
Whereas today i had it confirmed red bull is not available??
I was looking for this thread yesterday to post my e mail i got.
The amount of inconsistancy with this deal is really getting on my nerves now.
As i have been told i can get rose by the glass i hope i can?
All this teething problem talk.
Really its not hard to print out a list of concrete rules about the package and its contents where and how its sold etc.
Then stick to it.
Heres the email again anyway.
Dear Guest.
I apologise that you did not receive the response I sent back last week.
Nevertheless I hope this answers your questions.
Are ALL cocktails and frozen included = No, HOWEVER there is a very
limited amount of cocktails that are not included. Cocktails that are made
with a Speciality item are not. These are cocktails that are made with very
expensive Liquors.
Are red,White and Rose or White Zinfandel house wines by the glass included
= YES
Is red bull included on it's own or in a drink as a mixer ie vodka and red
bull. = NO
Are juices (not fresh) included = YES from the juice gun
Are you served the package in ALL bars and dining rooms.(reports of refusal
in champagne Bar) = incorrect, available in all outlets (except room
service)
Is sparkling White wine included. = YES House
Are you limited to a certain number of drinks( Inc sodas) in the day
(obviously without being inebriated ) ONE DRINK AT A TIME PER CARD
Are all beers apart from oil can Inc. = NO
Kind Regards
David

I notice that charmay is from England and sailing on Independence of the Seas from there. According to the UK Royal Caribbean site, it does have different pricing for the soda packages:
I'm guessing that these prices are inclusive of gratuities.
That sounds about right then.
Many thanks:)
-
Hi,
Anyone fresh off a ship remember how much the soda package was for under 17?
I was told $5.50 over the phone.
so the price must have risen as I keep reading $4.50?
Thanks Sam.
-
Even as an adult i love the animals.
But i do hope they make the effort for the children on the cruises.:)
-
Dear Ms
Many thanks for your email.
I will certainly pass your thoughts through to our Beverage Planning Team
in Miami.
They are constantly reviewing the packages that we offer all our guests and
do make changes where it is felt there is a need.
Thank you for the suggestion
Kind Regards
David

This was the response to my query.
Seems they all going to diffrent departments!

I have raised this idea with rccl.
If everybody e mailed them they might listen.
-
I am glad you did post this as I also had missed it before.I just booked a Rccl cruise and the travel agent did not say anything about this,I am really amazed that Rccl would take this approach. We just got off the NCL Dawn on Sun. and I can tell you that the service is not even close to Rccl. When a person knows they will get paid anyway they just seem to care a little less about their service to you. It will be interesting in a few months to hear some feedback on this move.
How strange we posted a similar opinion at the same time??lol:D
-
I always tip if I have received good service,I am a generous person.and I don't have particular high expectations .as long as I get service politely I am ok.
If tips are now mandatory will the service with a smile suddenly diminish?
Sorry but tips are after having received a service not before, blinking cheek!
If it was a housekeeping charge fair do's.
But it's a tip?
I just fail to understand this whole concept.
Happy cruising btw :)
I just found out that the new menus will be on Independence for my cruise :D I wonder what the 14 night menus will be like.
Hi we are sailing 13th july 2013,do you know if its available then?how did you find this out?many thanks sam x -
You know what I get in my cabin???? Nothing but a clean room and a week of vacation to look forward to!!!! I have a lllllooooonnnnnggggg way to go until I get burdened with such horrible gifts!!! So I don't really get why you're complaining about something like that. Or why you would prefer a cheesy fanny pack!!! :p
I found the fanny pack so funny, then you go and say cheesy fanny pack.:D hillerious.
I live in england i guess you can figure it hehehe.

Hi
I am utterly disgusted how Rci are treating its UK customers.
One highly priced Ship from Southampton left.
Prices inflated due to high demand of one ship.
This is just chasing the almighty buck with yet another ship in the Caribbean.
The fact is some dont like flying but love to cruise.
It's not the itinerary its the cruise experience.
I think after yrs of loyal uk customers booking the indy.
This is a big let down and a kick in the teeth..
If i wasnt already paid up for this year I would change to another line.
I say go home all together rci.
You've just completly disgraced yourself in our eyes.
