We also got a kick out of the little hurricane handwashing stations they have on the Panorama. Not sure if this is a fixture on all Carnival ships these days, but I honestly wish they had these things everywhere!

Great review so far!!! These rolled out shortly before the pandemic on some ships. I agree they need more and they should be used more by cruisers!!!!

I feel your pain. I was booked on the third sailing out of Galveston after the TA.

For those of us who had the T/A cancelled. I had a friend on the Celebration T/A and he and his family were extremely let down.  I heard during the crossing the ship didn't have near enough supplies and bars were depleted a couple days into the crossing.  He also said the "vibe" on the ship was billed a celebratory (no pun intended) sailing, but felt none of that.  This opinion was, according to him , shared by many on the ship.

I take him at his word as he has always been upfront about everything.  My first impression when I got my cancellation notice was twofold:

1- There was a glitch in pricing at somepoint and fare went from the original $3000+ down to $500 for an extended balcony on the port side.

2- They had too many complaints from the Celebration crossing and decided it wasn't worth going through that again.

I am not saying either of those are "real", just my first impressions.  I truly believe we will never know the real reason as it looks like the Jubilee is moving along nicely.

  3. Okay, I have done the Chef's Table often over the past 10 years.  As everything else, the price has gone, and the quality has gone done (somewhat).  The meals are still good, just instead of filet mignon they did a strip, and other similar changes.

Here is the menu from the Magic in August.  I will also note that, while wine is included, it was not as free flowing as in the past.  I had to flag down the sommelier for additional pours several times.

  4. Okay so your mileage may vary here.  I did this last August while on the Horizon.  Myself (solo cruiser) and a couple that I made friends with during the cruise were at the resort.  The facilities were okay at best.  Loungers were old and several torn and dirty (maybe they upgraded them once they started getting visitors again). The reef out in front of the resort was dead, snorkeling was not great.  Limited options for the inclusive drinks.  Food was solid for sure, that was the only thing I can positive about it along with Mama's great personality.

Will guests go with so many key brand elements missing?

If I didn't have the Jubilee TA booked next year, I would have tried my best to get on the Transpacific, definitely.  But then again I think Guys Burgers are way overrated, so that is a non-concern for me.

Embarkation was awful but I learned some tips and tricks from other guests to avoid it. Try to get the earliest embarkation time. If you don't, the wait gets longer. We waited 2 hours from arrival to walking on the ship with a 12:30 embarkation time. Other people told me the waited only 30 minutes arriving as early as possible.

I sailed 8/11 and had an early time.  Yes it was quicker but embarkation is still very disorganized in NYC.  Different people telling us to go to one spot, then getting yelled at to go to another, it was a rough start to my trip for sure! I don't think it has been improved, apparently.

  7. I have attached the menu from the Magic cruise two weeks ago.  I was not thrilled with the Chef's Table, I hope you have a better experience.  Obvious cutbacks in all areas.  Some of the dishes were excellent mind you, but overall the CT is not what it used to be.  Again, I hope you have a better experience!!!

I'd wait for the Dec cruise to be officially canceled (very high probability) before booking for March.

My gut feeling (based on information as of 8/19/20) is that there won't be any sailings until mid-2021 anyway, so even if you canceled Dec 2020 today and rescheduled for 3/2021, there's a good probability that it won't sail either.

What is the information you have as of 8/19?  My gut feeling is that CCL will be cruising by Jan.1, 2021 if not earlier.  A couple European cruises have started back up, US will be close being (again IMHO).
