  1. Thanks for all of the responses and opinions.  I mentioned the Shore Ex employee on my survey.

We had a great time either way.  Although, it sounds like they may have marked them up anticipating demand from the larger number of cancellations on coco cay.  Many in this thread mentioned Labadee prices recently paid around $500.  The cheapest price he offered us was $850 I believe.  Both islands have beach cabanas, and that’s what I booked originally.

We got engaged in August, and I just wanted to give her a special day.  This was only her 2nd cruise.  We had a blast regardless.

  2. Hi!

Let me start off by saying, I'm very happy with, and very loyal to Royal.  Diamond member, almost never a complainer..........

On our recent Eastern Caribbean cruise on Allure,  Coco Cay was cancelled due to weather.  Ship was instead routed to Labadee.

We have not been to Coco Cay since the upgrades were done, so we were excited.  I booked a Chill Island Cabana very early at what I thought was an excellent price.

When the announcement was first made, I just kind of shrugged it off, and I actually said that I felt bad for all of the families with children that were going to miss out on the water park etc.... I said, "We'll just make the best of it."  A day or maybe even two later, I thought maybe I'd just check with the Excursions Desk to see if they were offering Cabanas to those that had already purchased them for the rerouted Coco Cay stop.  I greeted the man at the desk with a smile, because I assumed that he had probably already been bombarded by other cruisers with children trying to make other plans to entertain them.  The man was very dismissive of me right from his first glance up from his computer screen.  I explained my situation, and my question, and he immediately went back to his computer.  He then very bluntly said..."Yes we have multiple Cabana options still available on Labadee, however we'll not honor the price you've previously paid."  I asked him the prices, and he quoted me a range about twice what we had paid, from $850.00 to $1050.00.  I politely declined, and was on my way.  When we did arrive at Labadee it was actually a very hot, nice sunny day.  As we walked around the Island, I noticed that several of the Cabanas, had not sold, and remained unoccupied for the day.  Could there have been a better system in this situation?  I'm not really angry, but I did mention the situation on my survey.  It just appeared that Royal marked the Cabanas up to maximum price expecting a run on them after Coco Cay was cancelled, and because that didn't happen, they made nothing on some.....We would have gladly taken one at the price we had previously paid even if shore excursions had contacted us the morning of our arrival.  Maybe I just don't understand the logistics of the situation............ Anyway, we had an amazing trip, and we cant wait to book again!
