  1. We were on the Beyond last week and tried to upgrade only my DH several times on Day 1 and was repeatedly told no. On Day 2 we were told yes by a waiter working in the World Class bar. He put the sticker on my husband's card and we paid for 6 days. We had to keep an eye on our account because we were overcharged a few times for his drinks after that, but guest services fixed each error.

  2. PSA- we were moved up yesterday for an upcoming Reflection sailing. I happened to notice that our cabin credit had disappeared when I went online this morning to look at shore excursions. I contacted our TA. He had it fixed very quickly, but Celebrity told him it was a glitch in their system. Thought I'd pass along.

Also check to see if it is cheaper just to upgrade your cabin to Aqua with your travel agent. I read a post on here that someone got a suite cheaper than the minimum bid for a suite. That way you both could get in an Aqua class together. If you get the move up and they don’t they will not be able to dine with you in Blu.

Thank you! We have the same TA so we will check the price with him.

  4. Assistance appreciated because I'm having no luck searching for this: We received a move up offer yesterday for a March Reflection sailing. Our friends did not. We want to bid on Aqua. They called Celebrity today and our travel agent, but neither had a good explanation as to why they didn't receive it and said that they should just keep checking. Is there any rhyme or reason to this? We've been on many Celebrity sailings, but they haven't. Is that why? We understand that even if we both bid to upgrade to Aqua we might not get it, but it would be nice if they had a chance. Is the offer to bid purely random? Thank you!

  5. I booked a guarantee balcony on the Reflection for March over the weekend.  They assigned us a 2B cabin a couple days later. I have never been assigned a cabin that fast. Anyway, I called my TA when the new sale dropped and he said I could not get any credit for the price drop on the guarantee cabin because now I was in a higher priced 2B. This just doesn't seem right. Has anyone experienced this??

I hope this isn't indicative of the NS waiting this long on all sailings to assign cabin numbers.  We sail on the 7th and I was hoping to hear something within the next few days.

This is our 6th HAL cruise and we have never waited this long.  I have been checking several times a day to no avail!

  7. We did lots of price checking and have been using the same TA for years.  This is the first time we have come up against this issue.  The cabins are booked and can't be changed without a fee, so I was hoping to find out if we should just attempt to get extra keys for the room or if they would switch us at Guest Relations on board.  Not looking like many folks have had this issue. My TA seemed to think this was not a big deal.   Seems like a pain to me!

  8. I can't seem to find an answer anywhere to this situation -  I'm sailing on the Nieuw Statendam in March and needed 2 cabins. I received a past guest discount as a 2-star Mariner.  The other couple with us consists of a 1 and 2-Star Mariner.  Their past guest discount was not as generous as ours, so our TA booked the cabins with our discount.  However, the cabin assignment has my DH and one of the other couple in a room, while I am listed in a room with the other spouse.  TA said we had to do that to get the best rate.  He said we can switch to the correct cabin on board.  Has anyone done this?  Can this be done at check-in or do I have to see guest services on the ship?  Should we just get extra key cards (do they do that)?  This is our 12th cruise and haven't been in this situation before.  I am worried about all of the room charges, too. Thanks!

  9. SHIP: Silhouette

    CABIN #: 6272

    DECK #: 6

    CLASS: 2C - partial obstruction

    AREA: Aft

    BED NEAR: Balcony

QUIET?: Yes, Cabin is above the Ensemble Lounge area, but we heard nothing. Very quiet room.

BALCONY VIEW: Lifeboats are just under the balcony.

    BALCONY SIZE: Standard

    WIND A PROBLEM?: No

    SOOT A PROBLEM?: No

PROBLEMS/COMMENTS: The room is classified as an adjoining room, but there is no interior connecting door to the next cabin. We only heard our neighbors door 3 times the entire week. Very quiet location and convenient. Would book this room again.

  10. We have an upcoming cruise on the Silly with friends who booked a suite. We are in a balcony cabin. They are excited about their dining choices, but I don't think we are able to accompany them. Does anyone know our options? Are we stuck in the MDR, while they eat at Luminae and Blue? Is there any chance we can eat with them? We are not able to upgrade to a suite. Thank you!

  11. Kaye, Below is my review of our Deck 6 cabin on the Reflection:

    SHIP: Reflection

    CABIN #: 6291

    DECK #: 6

    CLASS: Veranda

    AREA: Aft

    BED NEAR: Balcony

QUIET?: Only during the day. Extremely loud all night

BALCONY VIEW: Classified as obstructed, but really not

    BALCONY SIZE: slightly larger

    WIND A PROBLEM?: no

    SOOT A PROBLEM?: no

PROBLEMS/COMMENTS: Worst noise ever on a ship with no sleep. The cabin is directly above Blu and its kitchen. Every night (between 11pm and 6:30am) there was intermittent banging and clanging below us. We complained for 4 straight days, repeatedly. We were finally moved to another cabin - 6102, for the final 3 nights (which was better, but morning noise to due anchor). Would NOT stay in either cabin again.

Worst sleeping experience on a cruise and guest relations was not really concerned about it, despite our constant calls. The cabin next to us was complaining as well. We were each provided a $250 voucher on a future cruise on the last day of the sailing. I think other areas of deck 6 are probably fine. Choose wisely!! Liesl

  12. We have been on several HAL cruises and our first Celebrity sailing was on the Reflection last month. We love HAL for the crew and outstanding service. I really relax on a HAL cruise and love the layout of the ships. Despite several issues on our sailing, we enjoyed our Celebrity cruise and booked the Silhouette for April. We enjoyed the vibe of the ship and found the food to be very good. The ship was beautiful and sparkling clean. What we missed from HAL was the Promenade deck for walking the entire ship after dinner in a covered area. The decks on the Reflection aren't set up this way. We also missed the Crow's Nest. The Reflection chopped up their Sky lounge for suites. We also felt like there is quite a class system on Celebrity that you don't get on HAL. We are excited about our Silhouette sailing and will probably return to HAL soon because we want to sail the Koningsdam.

  13. I can't believe in all of this thread nobody has mentioned my #1 reason for applauding the demise of formal nights: The Airlines! We enjoy formal nights, but flying is an absolute nightmare these days. Having to pack all that is necessary for 2 nights of dressing up is too cumbersome and costly in these flying times. We just cruised on the Reflection 11/7 with 1 carry-on each, a back pack, and a tote bag. My DH wore his suit on the plane and I actually fit 1 long gown in my carry on bag, along with 6 other dresses. We made out just fine and will be even happier on our next cruise with this change. It was also quite nice to breeze in and out of the airport not worrying if our bags would show up. If you are driving, of course you can take whatever you please and not worry. You can dress up to your heart's content and hopefully not worry about what anyone else has on!
