I just heard Westie was on it's way to Nassau now instead of Grand Turk. Anyone on board heard anything about this?

Have a friend who is looking for a hotel that you can leave your car at while cruising for free. Is there one in NY, if not, can you name a place that they can park that isn't so costly like it is at the terminal?

This is the form my niece received on her recent Conquest cruise. There were 4 in their party and she was the only one caught smuggling booze on board, so it sounds like it's a hit or miss situation

Strange that the same company has so many different rules depending on what line you cruise on.

I have friends going on the Conquest in a couple of weeks and they want to know if you can buy liquor once you get on board the ship. They don't want to pre-order it, but would like to have a bottle for their room.

Can you do this and if so, what brands do they have and how much is it.

I think they drink Jim Beam.

WESTERNDAM Cabin 4166

We just got off the Westerdam on Feb 22nd 2014. It was a 7 day cruise that took us to Grand Turk, San Juan, St Maartin and HAL’S private island, (and my favorite island), Half Moon Cay.

The ship is beautiful. I really loved it. Our cabin was spectacular. It was a regular class VD balcony cabin towards the aft of the ship but had a HUGE balcony. Twice the length of regular balconies and about a foot deeper than regular balconies. We heard absolutely no noise from the stairwell, (thus the reason for the bigger balcony) and we spent a lot of time just enjoying the size of our balcony.

The food………I was disappointed. Seems like no matter what kind of beef I ordered, it was tough. The first night was prime rib and I got mine med rare, my husband got his med. His was tender and delicious. Mine was very tough and full of gristle. One night I ordered from the “every night” menu because I didn’t see anything I liked on the regular menu and I ordered the steak….tough. I couldn’t eat it. Of course the waiter offered to get me something else, but after eating the salad and appetizer, I wasn’t that hungry, so refused. The fish was very good though. I had a couple different types of fish and it was always cooked perfectly and very tasty.

Most people did adhere to the dress code in the main dining room also.

My husband developed a cold during the cruise, so last formal night we put ourselves in a self imposed quarantine and just ordered food from the main dining room menu and had it delivered to our cabin. Surf and turf. It was very good.

Chair hogs were out in full force as usual, but you could always find a place to sit at the tables, if not the lounge chairs.

Our room steward was not very good. This is the first time that I’ve seen a cabin steward with a helper, but he still couldn’t do the job well. He actually left someone’s insulin pin in our cabin. When we got there, I saw it and thought it was a highlighter. I thought that was so nice of HAL to give us a highlighter so we could mark the activities we wanted to go to……..so I opened the pen to start “highlighting” and noticed a dial on the end and realized it was an insulin pen. When I told our steward about this, he was very shocked and took it away immediately and of course, apologized for leaving it in the room. Things we asked him to do, didn’t get done unless we actually called him and pointed it out….and nothing hard………like please sweep our balcony, there’s sand all over it from the last cruise….didn’t get done until we took him out on the balcony and showed him what we meant…

All in all, it was a great cruise. The weather was perfect and our fellow cruisers were very courteous and friendly.

Would I go on the Westerdam again??? Absolutely!

Well, I did receive a reply and as others have said, they apologized and are sending me 2 in the mail so I'm satisfied now. :)

Tiles are normally available at the Mariner's Lunch. If you do not go, you can request them from the Front Desk or Concierge , if you have a Neptune Suite. I think others have been successful asking for them from the Mariner's Society after you return from your cruise,

Someone just ask me which Tile I got and that's when I realized that I didn't get one at all, just coming off the Westerdam.

Has HAL stopped giving out the tiles or was my Cabin Steward really that bad?

We just got back from the Westerdam. We were in VD Cabin 4166 and could see the stars so clearly and brightly. We'd sit outside and name the constellations. I don't know if it was our location or if it's because this ship doesn't have all the things other ships have........outdoor movie screen, water slides....things that make it brighter at night, but we had no problem at all see the beautiful stars at night. You could almost reach out and touch them.

Rather than look through 10 pages of paperwork I know someone can give me the emergency number for HAL in case we can't make our cruise tomorrow because of the weather...20 1/2 inches in Roanoke VA...

Does anyone have that number?

Flip flops are wonderfully comfortable for the beach and town trips...they do NOT belong in dining rooms unless you can do the shuffle walk and cut down on "the Flip Flop " sound!![/QUOT

Would flip flops be OK for Dress Casual nights with a pair of capris??

I know the capris are fine, but not sure about the flip flops.

On a caribbean cruise I live in flip flops, except of Formal Nights.

I'm with you on this one. I find Princess puts on a fine product and beats Hal to a fine pulp in the service area.

This is the exact reason I have left Princess and returned to HAL...Service can not be beat on HAL, unlike Princess.

I know this is all a matter of opinion, but my opinion is HAL beats Princess to a pulp.........to quote your statement. :)

Can you walk along the beach to get to either Jacks or the Crew Bar?

I have a cyber shot camera that is waterproof and thought it would be nice...............OK, I couldn't afford a go pro so thought I would try and find a head strap for it so I could wear it when I went horseback riding at Half Moon Cay...Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I have a friend that will pick us up at the port after our cruise, but not sure they will let just anyone into the port area.

Will my friend be able to pick me up at Port Everglades to take me to the airport?
