Loving the reviews. Thank you so much. Our AMASerena leaves Prague on Dec. 11. We leave Dallas on Dec. 6 for a few days in Prague before the cruise.
-
We leave in 10 days and am so excited. I too refuse to live in fear - but will be aware and cautious while in Europe. But it's the same here whether in Dallas, New York, LA or at church. It can happen anywhere as we have seen in recent weeks here in the USofA.

lackcreativity, I think you make a valid point....to me pics are important, and I will be travelling with my "super zoom" Sony and my cell phone, but for DH, although he enjoys taking pics, he is happy with his cell. I guess it all comes down to how important of a memory the pics will be to the original poster. My only comment to them would be make sure you have storage....you never know if you will need it! I am taking a 32G card for each day...and yeah, I could probably fill them, but others may do fine with what they have on their phone.
Daisi - I'm like you - I want the best I can get in my pictures - so I purchased a high end Canon G7 Mark ii point and shoot which is great for night time photos. I am taking 3 64gb sdxc cards - but I've also got some 3.0 flash drives to down the pictures to so I'll have more space.

Loved to hear more. We are heading on 12/6 to Prague for a 12/11 Nuremberg to Budapest Christmas Markets on the Danube. Can't wait to hear your review.

I'll try and do this on our cruise. We're leaving in two weeks. We'll do a pre-cruise for five days in Prague before getting on our boat in Nuremberg. Then we'll do an additional day in Budapest and another four days in London.

If you don't want to invest in a new camera there are a couple of options. One you rent cameras. Just google camera rentals and there are places you can rent nice point and shoot cameras. I just did this for a friend to take pictures for her daughter's engagement pictures. Another option is to purchase on EBAY a used one that is in good condition and then consider selling it on EBAY once you get through with it. This is the option I took for our trip. It'll be cheaper than renting a camera - especially since I'm using a high end point and shoot.

Be alert and have fun. That's my motto. If we don't go and have fun - the bad guys win. Sure something might happen - but something might happen here where I live. So the other option is to become a hermit and never venture out. That's not living.

These mitts were recommended to me and I purchased them and believe I will love them. They are fingerless gloves with a mitt that you can open to take pictures or use cell phone and when finished closed back off. They also have a pocket that looks large enough to be useable for a cell phone or money, credit cards, etc. https://www.thewarmingstore.com/sprigs-multi-mitt.html

Keep the faith. I have a friend who was diagnosed with stage 4 liver cancer and is surpassing all odds and living a very good life. It is in remission right now. So keep the faith and enjoy planning your cruise.

Just received notice that we should receive our AMA Cruise Documents Monday, Nov. 13. Can't wait.

We are doing a AMASerena Christmas on the Danube cruise - starting off with five days in Prague before getting on the boat in Nuremberg to Budapest and then onto London for four days. Our traveling partners asked if we could buy stamps anywhere in the US for postcards we'll be mailing while we are gone?
Second question is while we are on the cruise I heard or read that AMA will put stamps on post cards and mail them for you. Can somebody confirm if this is true. Also they said this was a "free" service or is it they are just charging it back to your room?

Based on input we bought some cheap ($3 for 12) washcloths at Bed Bath & Beyond. Washed them here to make sure they wouldn't run on other thing. Cheap - but will do what we need while in Europe. Thanks everybody. We're getting close and we were just sent a note that we've been upgraded to a Twin Balcony on AMASerena - Dec. 11. We'll be spending extra days before the cruise in Prague, an extra day in Budapest and four days in London before returning home to Dallas.
-
Thank you - we are going to be in a hotel from Dec. 7 - 10 before boarding on AMASerena in Nuremberg on Dec. 11. Then in hotels from Dec 18 - 22. So we will plan on bringing a few washcloths each.
-
I'm reading that many European hotels don't have washcloths in the rooms and you should bring your own. Do they have them on the AMA boats or should we should we consider bringing our own?
-
Thank you

We're still 50 days out from when we leave - but how long before the cruise should we expect to get the cruise package with all the documents? Yes - I'm excited and can't wait.:)

thanks - appreciate the advice

We've used water out of our Keurig and it doesn't get hot enough and stay hot enough long enough. We have to boil it for a couple of minutes. That's where the problem happens is keeping it hot enough long enough.
-
I have a travel, portable 220W immersion heater for mixing medicine that I need to take. I have to have boiling water. Would the immersion heater be any problems. I see where AMA has 220W so it's the same - just need the proper adapter. It's very small.

We are booked for Christmas Market cruise on Amastella, leaving December 13th out of Nuremberg. I"m interested in information regarding the excursion to Salzburg - I have some questions - if someone has been on this excursion with AMA please let me know. Thanks!
We are scheduled to leave Dec. 11 on the AMASerena out of Nuremberg and want to do the Salzburg excursion. So I too would be interested in anybody that has done this - especially during the Christmas Markets cruise.

Another bank debit card that is popular - I opened one myself is the CapitalOne 360 checking account and then get a debit card. I'm moving a little bit of money every pay period into that account for the trip. We'll be gone a total of three weeks. This card has no atm fees or foreign transaction fees (much like Charles Swab).
FYI - I do not work for CapitalOne - just a satisfied customer.
-
Appreciate all the info and will be considerate of other guest. I'll look into faststone photo resizer. I hadn't thought about how much bandwidth it will take. So will probably do just a few each day.

We're going on a AMA Christmas Markets on the Danube in December. I plan on taking a LOT of pictures but want to see if on AMA if there is a place to insert a SD Card to upload pictures to Shutterfly for immediate viewing by our friends back home.
The camera also has access to WI-FI but not for Shutterfly.

Thanks TravelerThom for clearing that up. Last thing I want is a fire.
AMAWaterways Cruise Documents

Posted
We just received a message from our travel agent that we had been upgraded. Not sure why we were selected or how, but we had our reservations in real early - about 1 1/2 years before the cruise. And we constantly posted on facebook. We like the AMAWaterways facebook and followed their postings. When there were things relevant to our cruise, we always posted something. Not sure if that made any difference - but were constantly saying when we were leaving, what ship we were on and how excited we were.
